After just a few hours on sale, the track (which was announced a surprise yesterday) has rocketed to #1 on US iTunes.
Its out of the gate success serves a strong signal of the level of support the 25-year-old has from the masses as she heads into album week.
‘Privacy’ is preceded by #1 ‘Bodak Yellow’ and follow-up ‘Bartier Cardi’ (the video for which we’re still waiting on). It’s momentum is also boosted by Cardi’s appearances on Bruno Mars‘ smash ‘Finesse’ and G-Eazy‘s ‘No Limit.’

This is just a personality/popularity contest because the song is no bueno.
I have come to the realization that even though the population keeps increasing only a very small percentage of people still buys music. Also, lets face it streaming is like pennies to the dollar when music was selling in the 80s and 90s. The music industry’s response was to not invest in good songwriters and producers anymore. Thus, all we get is subpar artists with wack popcorn music. I guarantee you no radio station will be playing this song in 8 months or any year after this. This is popcorn music not real music.

I actually like the switch up mood of the song. She’s showing she doesn’t have to be trap and aggressive on every track. I applaud her for softening it up a bit. It’s by no means stellar but her fan base isn’t the most refine so it’s a good choice for a follow up single.
I Love the beat and the vibe of the song. I like the message. I like that it’s slowed down, not as fast as her other songs.
