Mya Confirms April 2018 Release Date For New Album / Previews New Song ‘Damage’

Published: Sunday 18th Mar 2018 by Rashad

Fans familiar with the musical journey of Mya Harrison, better known mononymously as Mýa, know April 21st will mark 20 years since she burst onto the scene with her self-titled debut (featuring the hits ‘All About Me’ featuring Sisqo, ‘Movin’ On,’  My First Night with You,’ and more).

To commemorate, the singer-songwriter has announced April 20th as the long-awaited release date of her new album, ‘TKO.’  The follow-up to the Grammy-nominated ‘Smoove Jones’ (2016), ‘TKO’ is preceded by critically acclaimed cuts ‘Ready For Whatever’ and ‘You Got Me.’

Now, to whet appetites even more for the R&B joint, Mya’s unleashed a snippet for the project’s next official single, ‘Damage.’  Hear it below ahead of its March 23rd release:

Wow. Can’t believe it’s been 20yrs. I still remember clear as day us making a routine in the 5grade to Its all about me.

    • Fancy BISH March 18, 2018

That was 5th grade for you? Wow, I was a senior in high school….black ain’t cracking over here tho lol…but yeah, I was bopping to Mya driving around in my first car…I cook yo dinner, I wash yo clothes…baby HELL NO lol

      • Meme March 18, 2018

Really? Wow girl you up there. I’m right behind you though. I think it’s so cool how much you’re still into music/pop culture.

      • BootzShza March 19, 2018

Yesss that was my bop in high school as well! Whenever that song came on in the club (oddly there were some clubs that hosted 17+ in our days, you don’t see those around anymore) I would be doing choreography and isolations on the dance floor lol. Love Mya that’s my girl.

That would be great. But sorry, I can’t with these singers who leave for twenty years and then comeback like if people are only waiting for them

mya has consistently released music her debut. she just fell off after 2003 for refusing to play the game

she stayed true to r&B and went independent way before it was popular. her popularity suffered as a result

check her catalog. she never went away

    • Martaevia La’wayne March 18, 2018

Where have you been? Mya hasn’t left… do some research:)

      • BootzShza March 19, 2018

Exactly. Hellooo her last album was… last year? Or within the last 2 years? Grammy nominated! Hellooo!

if she had an album nobody knew…. it was very poorly promoted so again she fell off she’s only releasing because of Tinashe

    • SdotB April 7, 2018

That bish said she’s only releasing b/c of Tinashe….lmfao Tinashe has no impact on anyone’s decision to release. There’s an empty seat in the corner waiting for you to occupy it.

  3. Jackx March 18, 2018

Yess I can’t wait, I’ve loved both singles so far.
New Music is about to be lit. Tinashe, Toni Braxton, now Mya.

Tinashe always had a mya vibe its a toss up on the 2,, but will only spit out of hot song every couple years

  6. Jasmine March 18, 2018

I still remember her earlier songs. I always like new music from Mya. I bought her last album so I will buy this one as well.

  7. Sweetnothing78 March 19, 2018

It’s nice to keep this vibe going. Although this sounds like a demo for before Ciara’s ‘Promise’ landed.

  8. Smoove Jones March 19, 2018

First of all, the singles from this new album are Ready for Whatever, Ready Part II, and You Got Me.

Secondly, Mya is celebrating her 20 year anniversary. She’s not in competition with Tinashe. That’s dead.

Thirdly, Mya kept a hot song on the radio whether it was her own or a feature.

  9. DanYiel Iman March 19, 2018

I love her sound she’s amazing!!

  10. cocobutta March 20, 2018

Yes give me those Mýa grooves.

Smooth was a niceee album but this one sounds like an RnB flame is lit fully.
