The Predictions Are In! The Weeknd’s ‘My Dear Melancholy’ Set To Sell…

Published: Sunday 1st Apr 2018 by Sam

The Weeknd shocked fans on Friday with the surprise release of new EP ‘My Dear Melancholy.’

Hailed for serving as a throwback to Abel’s earlier sound, the project is the first taste of new material from the Canadian crooner since 2016’s ‘Star Boy.’

In the time since Beyonce’s 2013 “digital drop,” many have followed-suit with varying results. How did The Weeknd fare? The first week sales forecasts are in, so head below to find out…

Per Hits Daily Double, ‘My Dear Melancholy’ will easily premiere at #1 on the Billboard 200 with the following numbers:

150,000-175,000
[Sales Plus Streaming]
********
55,000-65,000
[Pure Sales]

********

While the SPS figure are somewhat congruent with The Weeknd’s previous numbers, the pure sales are a little…diet coke.

Still, SPS is what ultimately dictates chart position. So Abel will be fine, so long as he continues to deliver on that front.

the album is dreadfully boring. there is nothing inventive, creative or mature in his latest offerings.

Brent when u gonna come thru and let me hit? You was talking all that crazy BS the other day but now u runnin

    • ??? April 2, 2018

lmao sounds like you described all of his albums lmfaooo.

I mean why waste money in videos and promotion when you can still 150k dropping 6 songs out of the blue. And he’ll probably drop the remaining 6 songs and still the same…totaling 300+. It’s smart.

I think all big name artist should stick to this tactic. It works for Drake, Future and Beyoncé.

Bey gives her fans more. I mean she has videos for all her songs and does big tours. She won me over by her holding it down solo and being a leader in the African American community. She tapped into an untapped market by taking ratchet RnB mainstream while other RnB acts from her generation struggle in sales because radio does not play current rnb. Now Rihanna is different. She was destined to be a pop star and she is the Whitney Houston of this generation in terms of popularity and crossover appeal, despite her lacking Nippy’s God given vocal talents.

Yup Bey set her own lane. Aint no other artists making video albums and selling out world tours but Bey. Haters stay hating but the Beehive is real and those same haters be crying cause they can’t afford tickets to her concerts. Broke assses. They the same lames who don’t even buy their favs new albums. They just hatin to be hatin. Even Adele’s fat asss a Bey fan. She be buying tickets to the Bey concert to learn some tips but her fat asss can’t dance though and aint got no rhythm.

@ johnvidal, no one else is making visual albums because they don’t need videos to sell their music. Artist like Drake is outselling Beyonce without any music videos at all. Why on earth would artist like him want to dump 1 million making videos? Rihanna is another artist who single chart and perform well without any video (love on the brain, s** with me etc)

We all know that Beyonce vastly depends on videos the sell her music. That’s her thing.

Nah Meme none of what u saying is true. You mixing up generations. Drake, Rihanna, Chris Brown, etc is all from the current generation. Bey from the generation before that and she doin the best out of her generational peers (Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Ashanti, Mya, etc). U cant be mixin up the generations talkin bout how a current artist is doing better in something than an old artist. Bey knocking on 40. Drake and Riri either just turned 30 or about to turn 30. They was still little kids when Bey was already doing world tours as DC. Also Bey dont just put out music videos she do world tours and be performing her whole album at award shows. That is why her music be selling, not just from videos.

Meme loves to tear anything that Beyoncé dies down but will support flat tones Ri-Whine-A till the cows come home!! Her voice sucks yet her songwriters keep her in the news!! ✌??

Rihanna cannot be Whitney Houston. She only sells(or sold) singles. How many albums has she sold?Thank God for this sps(which to me is double counting and therefore a scam)now everyone can claim platinum after selling 15,000 copies.

Be smarter. it´s obvious that troll is not me. From the way he/she has written these comments I´m more inclined to think it is Jasmine the one trolling and not s******. S****** doesn´t write like that when he is “normal”.

Oh and btw, Beyonce´s crossover appeal is nowhere near Whitney´s. Whitney´s was equivalent to Adele´s if anything. All age groups, all countries. Obviously Rihanna is not such thing either. Beyonce has built and empire business wise and she has work her assl off to earn her position. But still, her audience is somewhat limited. But that was not Whitney´s call (building a musical-business empire for decades). Whitney´s was universal natural appeal. Only Adele from the current people can relate.

lmao gurl bye. drake sells millions more than roach and never makes videos until AFTER his songs hit #1. same with adele. roach pours all this money into her b level tired ass videos and still struggles to sell 1 million albums. i tell ya, the one thing the roach nest is good for is fairy tales when their roach queen gets outsold so easily lmfaoooo.

I mean it’s an EP so it’s basically like drakes More Life

    • Caleb April 1, 2018

Drake’s ‘More Life’ was more like an album.

  4. Caleb April 1, 2018

It’s just an EP. so these numbers are good.

  5. Theman April 1, 2018

These are good numbers for an ep which are just digital thus far. It’s only a few songs…

  6. Abel Minaj April 1, 2018

It’s six songs, what do y’all expect?
