The Projections Are In! Cardi B’s ‘Invasion of Privacy’ To Sell…

Published: Saturday 7th Apr 2018 by David

The Hip-Hop titan Cardi B has much to celebrate this year.

For, months before the arrival of her first child, the Afro-Latina megastar is to watch her debut album ‘Invasion of Privacy’ soar into the Billboard Hot 100’s Top Ten in its opening week.

Ready to catch her sales projections?

Follow us…

Opening Position: #1

Projected Pure Sales Figure: 45,000.

Projected Figure (With Streams): 170,000.

The well-received set is expected to move a modest 45,000 units in pure sales but soar north of the 170,000 units mark when the streams it swept up with ease are thrown into its chart mix!

With this, Cardi is set to stand tall as the highest-selling female rapper of the week and outperform recent efforts launched by her Rap sisters Remy Ma, Azealia Banks and the ‘FancyIggy Azalea.

There’s more.

‘Invasion’s projected first-week figure will see Cardi stand as the first female rapper since Nicki Minaj to see an opening number which sits over the 150,000 barrier.

Minaj’s debut album, ‘Pink Friday‘, opened with pure sales of 375,000 units in the week of its release and went on to shift 1 million copies in the U.S. in its opening month.
It now seems, with streams and a wave of positive reviews on her side, Cardi’s ‘Privacy’ is on course to reaching similar highs.

Forgettable album, forgettable numbers, forgettable rapper with a great and funny personality. She’ll be a great tv personality though

    • jaochim April 7, 2018

well like she said, her fifteen minutes lasting a long ass time. Do you like yourself?

      • Jasmine NOT Trashmine or TROLLmine??‍♀️??‍♀️ April 7, 2018

Lol yes 45k units sold… no comment necessary ????

    • S****** Blonde April 7, 2018

I just love listwning to ratchet hip hop while my man is deep in my guts and busting nuts up inside me. These kind of albums put me in a ratchet mood and I immediately feen for thug d!!ck. ?

    • Brent Christopher April 7, 2018

The projection is 200,000 copies — not 170,000.
      stop low-balling her numbers.

The units sold is 55,000 — not 45,000.

lets keep in mind that Kendrick Lamar & JCole sold 220,000 of their debut albums.

      keep EVERYTHING in perspective.

      • ??? April 7, 2018

lmao stop lyin, she’s flopping with 45k, deal with it lmfaooooo ?

      • Jasmine NOT Trashmine or TROLLmine??‍♀️??‍♀️ April 7, 2018

@??? You know I usually don’t use you cause you stan talent-less rihanna but I have to be on ur side today. 45k? I can’t. But I mean that’s on par with K Michelle, Tamar and the other reality stars who cane out with music- except they were actually extremely talented

  2. G7Pat April 7, 2018

I was expecting 200k but not too bad sps..

    • Brent Christopher April 7, 2018

      THE REAL NUMBER IS 200,000.

      PHYSICAL UNITS IS 55,000.

      CONGRATS CARDI!

Kendrick Lamae & JCole both debuted with 200,000 with their first albums out the gate.

      • Jasmine NOT Trashmine or TROLLmine??‍♀️??‍♀️ April 7, 2018

Kendrick and Lamar are hip hop artists while Cardi is an over media exposed pop star with a number one record. You’re comparing apples and oranges.

      • Brent Christopher April 7, 2018

you aren’t at all an intelligent debater.
this is not at all an apples & oranges comparison.
despite YOUR definition of “pop star”, Cardi B would not be considered such at this stage in her career. Cardi B is by far still very heavily rooted in HIP-HOP.

you are obviously a white female and/or below the age of 35.
YOU ARE OUT OF TOUCH with the fact that being attractive and a female in the music industry does NOT automatically place that artist in the POP category.

Cardi B has not yet released one solo record that is considered anything aside from HIP-HOP. Cardi B does not lead any record on the Billboard 100 that isn’t saturated in the core essence of rap music.

        This isn’t an opinion.

      • Jasmine NOT Trashmine or TROLLmine??‍♀️??‍♀️ April 7, 2018

You’ve no idea what you’re talking about, you don’t know rap you’re a Cardi B Stan- one of the worst rappers ever. I’m just going to stop as you’re already bathing in delusions and have absolutely no knowledge of rap or talent in the rap category. Hahahhahahahahahahahah but enjoy your little bar-less wonder, dumb music has to entertain some folks- the dummies ??

      • Caleb April 7, 2018

There are no physical units yet. I think you mean digital copies.

  3. Kim.Kesha& Pam April 7, 2018

These will increase. Mark my words.

    • Brent Christopher April 7, 2018

      A B S O L U T E L Y!

Cardi will appear on SNL for two performances tonight & then co-host late night talk Monday – Friday of this upcoming week.

  4. Kerry Johnson April 7, 2018

That’s cool, she’s very popular now these days so due to that kindda helped her out. She won’t beat Nicki but she pretty good in her own lane. I don’t know why Iggy slipped out so soon cause she had some potential ? oh well congrats on Cardi B

    • Jasmine NOT Trashmine or TROLLmine??‍♀️??‍♀️ April 7, 2018

Female rap is just in a sad state right now.

  5. Marcel April 7, 2018

Not bad could have been higher fin she released her album when BY had momentum but her
Numbers will increase with the promo that’s lined up like SNL

    • Brent Christopher April 7, 2018

The SPS projection is 200,000 copies!
      lets stop low-balling her numbers.

The physical units sold is 55,000 — not 45,000.

  6. Beystansince1997 April 7, 2018

Numbers make perfect sense! A lot of people including MYSELF have streamed the album. Either way I like a few songs and I’m happy for her success!

  7. YEAKELLY April 7, 2018

In terms of pure sales, she’s been bested by Nicki and Iggys first albums. Let’s keep it real. That’s not good

    • tisha April 7, 2018

thats because streaming back then wasn’t as popular as it is now! duh common sence!

      • Faf April 7, 2018

Yeah but still even with streams that’s low i would’ve thought at least 230k look how many followers she has

    • SdotB April 7, 2018

LOL @ Faf “at least 230k…” wow, and if she had 230k, you would’ve been like “I thought she’d sell at least 260k…”, just had to add an extra 30k for ur projections huh…wtf kinda specific a** projection is that?!?! The reach…

  8. Ajm265 April 7, 2018

We live in a new age. Stream is king no new artist will have longevity because no one is investing in them. We listen to songs and move on.

    • Jasmine April 7, 2018

      Touring still works though.

  9. #TeamTinashe Stan (PRE-ORDER “JOYRIDE” & STREAM “Me So Bad” TODAY) April 7, 2018

It’ll definitely see more increase. Congrats to her!

    PRE-ORDER “JOYRIDE” here – http://smarturl.it/joyride?iqID=yt

    • SdotB April 7, 2018

Pre-Order or not, Joyride will sell less than 20k sps…

  10. tisha April 7, 2018

Good for Her! Album is actually really good!

  11. Yolanda April 7, 2018

Put this in perspective, Cardi did not have pre-sales. Nicki’s album went on pre-sale for about a month AND Nicki had a live pre-sale at a record store with Diddy. Also Cardi does not have a purchasing audience. Cardi’s has a streaming audience. With that being said, 170k streams in a week is great!

    • Faf April 7, 2018

But that doesn’t matter if u can’t preorder that means there should be MORE anticipation bc we didn’t even get a track list with features until the night before

  12. B2B April 7, 2018

Her album is good! I couldn’t find a physical anywhere. With that being said her numbers are awesome. I know she will be platinum by May. I LIKE should be the next single for pop radio, let drip do it’s thing on urban formats. Ring and I do should both be singles, so good.

    • Yolanda April 7, 2018

Right. Without physicals, Cardi cannot do a meet/greet/sell. You cannot compare sales between eras. It is so unfair when they say Nicki broke Aretha’s record. Really? In a time of push-a-button sale? In Aretha’s era, you had to go outside rain/sleet/snow to buy a song and then most of the time the record was sold out so you had to either go to another record store or wait another week. There4 u had to have long-term interest invested in a song. NO hot-button-social-media-personality bullshyt.

      • The truth April 7, 2018

Plus Aretha or all the female rap greats from the 90s didn’t jump on 150 songs a year – she’s a features w**** and other rappers used to have to siign exclusivity deals with her saying they wouldn’t work with any other female tapppers. Nikki’s careeer is very smoke and mirrors – hope Cardi does her thing that album was better than any of those trash bop albums Nikki put out and please don’t tell me PF was great it was mediocre at best.

      • Faf April 7, 2018

Girl are u dumb when did they do such a thing? Every artist who worked w nicki has worked with cardi or remy

      • SdotB April 7, 2018

Faf, how did every artist who worked with Nicki work with Cardi or Remy???? Did they work with Young Money? Jay Z? Bey? Rih? and the 100 million other artists Nicki has worked with on her 1234,567,865,432,244 singles??

      • SdotB April 7, 2018

Faf, how did every artist who worked with Nicki work with Cardi or Remy???? Did they work with Young Money? Jay Z? Bey? Rih? and the 100 million other artists Nicki has worked with on her 1234,567,865,432,244 singles and features??

      • Rap Fan April 7, 2018

FAF I am talking 2012-14 when she was popping. Big Sean etc al those mid weight rappers who needed her on their albums at the time. That’s why Kendrick or J Cole never did any tracks with her they ain’t f****** with those exclusivity deals. Do your research – so the question is R U Dumb? She’s trash anyway – Monster is her only memorable verse and in 20 years time what is she gonna perform Starshios, Superbass abd Anaconda – that’s all she’s got. LOL

  13. Smh April 7, 2018

Hey at least she will do what Nickis debut album couldn’t and that’s actually debut at number 1 her album debut at number 2 and weeks later moved up

    • Jasmine NOT Trashmine or TROLLmine??‍♀️??‍♀️ April 7, 2018

Nicki sold way more though and she at least can rap, so… and I don’t even like wannabe lil Kim but facts are facts.

    • Guest April 7, 2018

What competition does anyone have on the charts these days though? Especially when the bar is being lowered every year and the amount of sales you need to hit number 1 has decreased substantially between 2010 and now? That doesn’t even make sense. And I don’t see the comparisons between the two of them because there are plenty of things Nicki did that Cardi could never.

      • Faf April 7, 2018

And that’s more of a success to go #1 week two where most ppl decline dumb ass

      • Guest April 7, 2018

        Um….. wut?

      • Jason April 8, 2018

FAF is right! Going higher in your second week is more impressive than debuting at #1 with a fraction of what you SHOULD sell… Her buzz should have easily sold her 300k in the first week! Alas… ??‍♂️ “I do” is a TOTAL BOP, tho!!

  14. Lake Erie April 7, 2018

I like the whole album! Every track is banging. Someone made a great point, you really can’t compare eras. This time is totally different from 2011.. I’d say if it was less than 5 years ago, then yes we def game. But it’s been almost a decade. Nicki was great at that time for what she did. But Cardi is definitely showing signs of no type of recession in the industry… Those are good numbers for a female RAP artist in this climate.

Congratulations Cardi! I also think those numbers will rise because word of mouth is spreading fast!

    • Yolanda April 7, 2018

Cardi’s sales are great for artists in her era/category: Yachty, Migos, Lil Zan, etc. You can’t just put her in a female rap category because she is a girl. Remy is not in her category. Remy is a veteran rapper in the category of Fat Joe, The Game, Snoop, LLCoolJ, Missy, Kim, Latifah, Salt/Pepa, Timbaland, 50 Cent, etc. I personally do not like Cardi’s album. The sound is mostly for strip clubs and the Love & Hip Hop audience, which I am not a part of. I do not club or twerk so I cannot judge what the youngins like today. I do not like Cardi’s delivery. It sounds like she’s talking, not rapping (if you know what I mean).

    • Caleb April 7, 2018

“I’d say if it was less than 5 years ago, then yes we def game.”

Okay then let’s compare with Nicki’s 3rd album. 1st week sales 244,000 vs 170,000. Pure sales 198,000 vs. 45,000. Quite a difference wouldn’t you say?

      • Yolanda April 7, 2018

Nicki, like Drake, Jayz, Kendrick, have already established a purchasing audience. Nicki is not FROM the streaming era. Her fans still want to purchase a physical to keep as an ornament. She is, however, from the social-media-personality era. Cardi’s first album is FROM the streaming era with streaming fans.

      • Yolanda April 7, 2018

It’s unfair to compare Cardi to Nicki. Cardi is part of the mumble rap lineage. No shade, just facts. Cardi has stated many times that she is in the rap game for the money. She could care less about keeping the rap legacy flourishing. Cardi would fail a Q&A on rap legends. You think Cardi knows about Big Daddy Kane? hehe

  15. Anfuq2 April 7, 2018

I don’t see the Cardi fascination… next is Blac Chyna??? Minaj is better. She at least writes her own s***!!!

    • tisha April 7, 2018

      danmnm you sounds dumb!

      • SdotB April 7, 2018

        “danmnm you sounds dumb!” ?!?!

lmfao the played yourself-ness is real…

  16. ??? April 7, 2018

    LOL

  17. ??? April 7, 2018

lmao horrible numbers. drakes new SINGLE is gonna out sell her whole album lmfaoooo???

  18. Jason April 7, 2018

This number is kinda shocking considering all the buzz/hype around her. Either way, congrats!!

  19. Caleb April 7, 2018

Considering all the hype, these numbers are so-so even with the streams.

  20. _KINGSEANCOURT_ April 7, 2018

Lmao she’s def doing more than 90k in pure sales. It was just released yesterday! These are predictions. You haters gonna look stupid af. lol

    • Faf April 7, 2018

That’s not how this works sis
      Projections don’t get doubled

This is based off the fact most ppl are buying an album the first day if they’re interested sales only decrease through the week which is why she was #3 on iTunes at last glance

  21. Yeah I said it… April 7, 2018

I like how David on posted 45k pure sales and 170k sps, but he got the information from hits daily double, and they said “Cardi B (Atlantic) 170-200k total activity, 45-55k album”. I guarantee you it will go higher before the week is up. Even Oprah posted on IG of her listening to the new Cardi B CD. You get no bigger than that!

    • SdotB April 7, 2018

where on Oprah’s IG do u see that?? I’m lookin at it right now and there’s no such post…

  22. Brent Christopher April 7, 2018

    The projection is 200,000 copies!
    stop low-balling her numbers.

The units sold is 55,000 — not 45,000.

lets keep in mind that Kendrick Lamar & JCole sold 220,000 of their debut albums.

    keep EVERYTHING in perspective.

    • Jasmine NOT Trashmine or TROLLmine??‍♀️??‍♀️ April 7, 2018

Kendrick and J.Cole were not pop artists with number one hit records and featured on major successful pop records with pop artists.. they’re straight up, hard core hip hop, talking about real deep issues and true to what hip hop is, with little to no pop appeal. She is a trap mumble talk rapper who makes nonsense pop music catered right to the ignorant millennial buyers with poor taste. Wrong analogy, she should have sold much more given her hype and over saturation.

      • Brent Christopher April 7, 2018

are you sure you’re clear what an analogy is? …

I am simply making a statement about the out-the-box sales record vs. pure genius of an artist with longevity and mass appeal.

        aside from that…

NO ONE aside from the ‘white savior’, Taylor Swift — including Eminem & Justin Timberlake, are pushing BIG opening week numbers that framed album sales in yesteryear. it’s the state of the contemporary music industry. EVEN BEYONCE DID NOT IN REAL LIFE PUSH 630,000+ copies of that “Lemonade” LP in April 2016. her streams were majorly inflated by TIDAL to create a sales narrative that does not/did not truly exist.

Cardi’s 200,000+ units sold and equivalent #1 spot on the BILLBOARD 200 falls in line with what major industry stars are doing in this day & age. yes, I too was hoping for 350,000+.

HOWEVER, once I truly stopped to pay attention to the numbers that Katy Perry, Eminem, Britney, Justin Timberlake and all of the others just pushed, this release mirrors that same commercial standard for “success” amongst the music’s industry A-listers. WELCOME TO THE CLUB CARDI!

      • Jasmine NOT Trashmine or TROLLmine??‍♀️??‍♀️ April 7, 2018

Sorry girl. You literally compared a girl on everything from mags to carpets, to features to commercials- to guys who had none of that. She’s literally everywhere and they were quite the contrary with no number one hits. Eminem doesn’t have a number one hit… neither does just… nor Britney… nor Katy… ur making bad comparisons. She’s new “hot” and on top, she definitely should have sold waaaaay more- not less than Iggy Azaleas debut, with a less successful number and we see where Iggys at now. YOU CANT SIT WITH US SIS #AllHype #SheTried #NoBars #LowSales #NoTalent #PoorTing

      • Brent Christopher April 7, 2018

please do not disrespect me by referencing me as “girl”.
I am not one of these raging homosexuals in the world who rant and rave about Beyonce vs. Rihanna or Cardi vs. Nicki.
That isnt at all my lane.

I am stating my opinion in a very intelligent manner.

seriously, do not direct your statements towards me using pronouns that I do not even respond to in my regular, daily life. it’s majorly disrespectful and antagonizing.

argue your point with intellect and support to balance your overall statements.
keep all of the gay h** lingo out of the back and forth.
give me honor and respect as a reputable black man.
        all jokes aside.

      • Jasmine NOT Trashmine or TROLLmine??‍♀️??‍♀️ April 7, 2018

Yes girl, you rant about talent-less aśš Cardi B… so not only ru a GIRL but you’re a hoodbooger ghetto girl with the feeble brain capacity to actually stan for a chick with no bars. Smh lmfaoooooooo.

You’ve no idea what you’re talking about, you don’t know rap you’re a Cardi B Stan- one of the worst rappers ever. I’m just going to stop as you’re already bathing in delusions and have absolutely no knowledge of rap or talent in the rap category. Hahahhahahahahahahahah but enjoy your little bar-less wonder, dumb music has to entertain some folks- the dummies ?? essence of hip hop!?!? Hahahahaha GIRRRRRRRL essence of dumb füçks is more like it. But enjoy miss thing

    • ??? April 7, 2018

lmao whether it’s 45k or 55k, those are still FLOP numbers lmfaooooo ???

  23. yfactor April 7, 2018

45K in pure sells with all of this hype is embarrassing. Why is this pressed dummy comparing Kendrick Lamar and J Cole’s real physical album sells to numbers inflated by streams? How do you have multiple hits and come out doing Solange numbers? Her label is working the crap out of the streaming thing lol. Blogs like this are pushing her but those album sells are tragic. Knock on wood for streaming!
She’s debuting at number one but her fans can’t even come at Nicki anymore, nor any of the females that sold back in the day. They actually had to get on the charts by actual sells, not trickery.
I predict this album to be certified multiple Platinum with less than 700,000 sold, just like Kendrick and Rihanna’s last albums respectively.

    • Caleb April 7, 2018

Please don’t categorize her with Kendrick’s last album, which sold WAY MORE than 55,000 in week 1, as did Rihanna’s.

    • Jason April 8, 2018

Leave Queen Solange out of this! Her Grammy, and multiple weeks at #1 ON THE ALBUM CHARTS have nothing to do with mumble B! ?

  24. Theman April 7, 2018

Her label was stupid not to release the physical/digital together. The physical would have helped her to move a lot more units. Plus a lot of people are trying to get her as an album artist.

  25. Lana Del Fan April 7, 2018

That one clip of Nicki proves everything I’ve been saying for a while now. Nicki is queen. No other female rapper has that charisma or energy. Nicki can’t be dethroned I’m sorry. Cardis album was good, but I could barely understand half the stuff she was saying due to her accent.

    • Jasmine NOT Trashmine or TROLLmine??‍♀️??‍♀️ April 8, 2018

Nicki is the weakest female live. She’s horrible and the only female rapper ever known for serial lip sync.

  26. Erin April 8, 2018

    375k PURE. SALES.

    NOTE THAT.

  27. DIABETES UNBOTHERED April 8, 2018

To put this in perspective, back in 2003 Solange debut Solo Star… yes SOLANGE sold 112,000 copies first week according to Nielsen SoundScan. No Hits whatsoever , no popularity whatsoever yet sold a significant portion of what ALIYAH used to sell. It baffles me to this day cuz her music was awful back then. But I will say Cardi B has HEAT on this album and the better songs after Bodak Yellow (10, Money Bag, & i like It) have not been released yet. This will be a SLOW & STEADY seller mark my words. And Nikki is PLAYED OUT, Pink Print FLOPPED and only proved the Legends RIGHT, “ALL Female Artist that Collaborate with BEYONCE do not live to tell about it” (Missy, Shakira, Alicia Keys, Gaga, and now NIKKI) Nikki was no exception. I see Cardi atleast going GOLD, Migos doesnt do much better, nor does Rihanna for that matter LOL

  28. April 8, 2018

Her pure sales don’t surprise me but damn the way they been hyping this chick[and dragging Nicki through the mud for no reason] I thought her streaming would be higher.
