Chart Check: Ariana Grande Makes Hot 100 History With ‘No Tears’ Debut

Published: Wednesday 2nd May 2018 by Rashad

As we previously reported, ‘No Tears Left To Cry’ – the first single from Ariana Grande‘s fourth album, ‘Sweetener’ – has certainly come as some well received ear candy for the diva’s legion of dedicated fans (affectionately called #Arianators).

Need proof?  Look no further than the tune’s impressive first week commercial performance.  Netting a whopping 36.9 million US streams and 100,000 digital downloads, the out of the box success led it straight to a top 5 debut on the Hot 100.

The chart premiere is accompanied with two equally impressive historic feats:  1) she tied Rihanna and Lady Gaga for sixth place among all acts for the most top 10 debuts and 2) she earned the distinct honor of being the first artist to debut in the Hot 100’s top 10 with the first singles from each of his or her first four albums.  Simply put:  every lead single from each of her albums has debuted in the Hot 100’s top 10.

More inside:

Note:  This achievement is NOT to be confused with artists who have earned top 10 singles at some point from each of their first few albums (i.e. Rihanna, Madonna, Justin Timberlake, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, etc.).

While we extend our congratz to the 24-year-old, tuck in to see who joins her in the top 25 on this week’s ‘TGJ Chart Check:  Hot 100’ edition:

So all the posts on these white b|tches and white gay celebs are POSITIVE news but ALL the posts about black straight men are NEGATIVE and the ones about black women are NEGATIVE b|tchy shade posts. Hmmmm is the writer of these articles names RASHAD, a black gay man from the south, suffering self-hate issues???????????????????????????????????

So this site is not going to say anything about j cole’s 6 entry in top 20 of billboard top 100 and three debut in top 10!? Or hip hop isnt discussed here!? Congratulation to J Cole

    • Jasmine May 3, 2018

Of course not. They are busy bashing all black straight men on here. The writers are black gay men who suffer self-hate issues obviously, especially RASHAD. Sam is more open-minded and not a racist but Sam needs to get rid of some of these contributors who have such a closed mind towards reality and are racist towards straight black men.

I could’ve sworn there was a post about that no?

      • King z May 3, 2018

yes there has already been a post about j Cole. H*** love to hate without doing research

THey specifically shouted out his Billboard hot 100 achievements

      • Jasmine May 3, 2018

Queen z STOP your LIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Those positive posts about J. Cole were written by Sam, and not that self-hating RASHAD! I stand behind everything I said above about him. He is a self-hating black gay man that has an agenda to bash straight black men. You will not find a single post on here by RASHAD that is positive about anyone black!

Congratulations to all the black people on the charts, especially those with multiple songs charting like Drake, J. Cole, Bruno, and Rich the kid. I love that Plug Walk song and the other BLACK songs on the chart.

So we’re just going to pretend like this is impressive when the standard is debuting at #1. Number 1 (for those in the back)! Just because these girls today aren’t in the same league of talent with the legends doesn’t mean the goal post should be moved for them. What’s next, most Top 11 Debuts When An Album Drops on a Holiday Weekend With a Full Moon and Mercury in Retrograde??? It’s getting ridiculous.
