Cardi B’s ‘I Like It’ Eligible for Platinum Certification

Published: Monday 4th Jun 2018 by Rashad

The plaques keep coming back to back for rapstress Cardi B.

After seeing her official debut single, ‘Bodak Yellow,’ cross the RIAA’s multiplatinum threshold, her tune, ‘Bartier Cardi,’ and featured appearances on ‘Finesse’ (Bruno Mars), and ‘No Limit’ (G-Eazy) helped them do the same.

Now, as her debut album, ‘Invasion of Privacy,’ has been certified Gold, its latest single – ‘I Like It’ – has gifted the rapstress the potential for her latest RIAA plaque.

Details inside:

Thanks to a handsome helping of streams and paid downloads before the arrival of its music video (which hoisted it to a #8 Hot 100 peak at the time), the clip’s release last week pushed the J. Balvin-assisted tune to a new peak on the Hot 100 this week.

Blasting to #7, the composite of over 31 million streams and thousands of downloads escorted the song’s overall music consumption past the 1 million mark (thereby making it eligible for platinum certification in the United States).

Every time I see Cardi with an achievement from streaming I think of when Nicki was pushing HARD for streams to be counted and now….LMFAO. With Cardi, it ok because she building a fanbase as a new artist and trying to not be a 1 hit wonder, Nicki already has a fanbase and is an established artist, she should have no problem selling records but depends on streams for Billboard clout, lmao!

lmao girl sit, chun li just went Gold on PURE SALES. corni is the only one whos whole career is dependent on streaming lmfaoooooo

      • jamila June 5, 2018

You can never compare her microwave success to artist who thrived duringpre streaming eras. Not taking away from her success but it’s not comparable.

    • _KINGSEANCOURT_ June 5, 2018

Lol but you just called it microwave success? Success comes in many ways! No you can’t compare someone who been in the game basically almost a year to someone’s 8+ years. Many rules etc has changed since Nicki’s debut and even since 2014, when her last album came out. Cardi is successful, not microwave success, cause if that was the case, she would’ve been gone after Bodak or her 2nd single

Wtf a Rihanna fan talking about microwave success
When all Rihanna make is microwave music .Rihanna been out 14 years and don’t have no timeless music.

      • Meme June 5, 2018

I was waiting for you lames to come here talking smack about Rihanna. First of all, why can’t I make a damn comment without y’all bringing Rihanna name up? Secondly Rihanna put in fuc&ing work to be where she is right now. She wasn’t an overnight success. She got where she’s at by putting in work, building her brand, and increasing sales each year with a new album pre streaming age. She’s gotten her #1 singles from actual SALES. Bye

You need to stop criticizing cardi you no fan of rih for saying something like that girl bye

Except of the „microwave“ comment, I totally agree. Times have changed drastically and all those people comparing current acts to acts that have been there in the 90ies and 2000s are just wrong for doing that. Sales cannot be compared. Hell, current sales cannot even be compared to sales five years ago.

As for Cardi, she is not the best rapper, but she deserves the success. Her album is hot and she is extremely likeable.

Invasion of Privacy is actually Platinum, and Bodak Yellow is 6x Platinum.

    • lmao June 5, 2018

lmao but in PURE SALES, she’s double plastic with only 165K sold lmfaoooooo

    • king z June 5, 2018

invasion of privacy is most likely platinum based on the success of its singles, but it has not BEEN certified yet

albums can sell abajillion copies but until the label requests and pays for certifications, they won’t be granted status by the riaa

  8. KodakRedd! June 6, 2018

Get it Cardi!!!!….People discounting her. But most just mad cuz ‘Chopsticks’ has hopped on all these songs and released 5 of her own and still struggling to match Cardi….?

    • Section8DaGreat June 6, 2018

LOL not “Chopsticks” Now the world is seeing how overrated she has always been. You give her a little competition and she falls away.
