August Alsina: “I Was Addicted To Drugs”

Published: Tuesday 10th Jul 2018 by David

August Alsina‘s friendship with Jada Pinkett-Smith saved his life.

How? Her decision to address the drug addiction he refused to believe he had…an addiction he says was powered by what felt like a swimming pool of pills.

August’s story, via ‘Red Table Talk’ below…

August has now overcome his dangerous habit and is hard at work on new music that is inspired by the latest chapter of his journey.

So, what are percocets and how do they affect your brain and body?

It takes courage to admit your addiction in public and a black man at that. I hope he stays clean and loose these weight *yikes*
I’m still convinced Jadet is smashing ????

August has been through SOOO much in recent years and in life before fame and he at his strongest point seems like. I notice he holds stuff in and releases it through music, that’s good he has some outlet to let go too. The weight gain and vocal change is appealing but I wonder is it a change because of the drug usage. I pray the Smith’s do right by him. Hes had family turn against him and industry friends, Jada and her family took him in a really gave him emotional and spiritual love which he was lacking and looking for.

No homo but August is such a beautiful man. His features are almost feminine they are so fine.., that said, Percocet is no joke. I believe that was the drug that stole another beautiful soul, Heath Ledger?.

Aren’t these the same kind of drugs that are increasingly the subject of celebration in rap and hip-hop music? Kids and teens learn new dances to these songs that celebrate cutting, snorting, stirring, cooking and the majority of us in the community act as though it’s no problem. There’s a reason why white business owners and professionals are funding this kind of music and only for black artists–this country still has us enslaved and most of us don’t even know it.

I love me some August. Wish he would’ve gone on to make many many albums. His 2014 album is one of my favorites of all-time.

Everybody who does Percocet are extremely addicted and need help to get off the drug. But somewhere in outer space, the Barbz do not think Nicki is hooked.

HI was wondering where he was or why I haven’t heard from him in a while. He’s very talented and has a beautiful personality! Someone mentioned below that he has been through a lot…he HAS! I happen to share the same exact Birthday (Month, day and Year) of August, and as a VIRGO I KNOW how hard it is to admit something very personal as that! We like to internalize everything! I’m very proud of him!!!
