Aretha Franklin Zooms To #1 on iTunes Singles & Albums Charts Following Death Announcement

Published: Thursday 16th Aug 2018 by Rashad

The Queen reigns again.

Following this morning’s announcement of the passing of Aretha Franklin (click here to read), the outpouring of grief has seen fans open their hearts and wallets – a move that sees the music monarch’s biggest hits dominate the current iTunes sales charts.

Pushing the likes of Drake‘s megahit ‘In My Feelings,’ Cardi B‘s ‘I Like It,’ and more of the day’s top hits aside, Franklin’s most memorable numbers – ‘Respect,’ ‘(You Make Me Feel Like A) Natural Woman,’ and ‘Chain of Fools’ are just a few of the titles that are topping the tally (as of time reported).

Be mindful, the sources above are paid digital downloads only and do not reflect how heavily her material is being streamed.  Could Aretha’s sudden sales surge block both Travis Scott and Nicki Minaj from claiming the top spot next week on the Billboard 200 (click here for details)?

Check in for next week’s ‘Chart Check’ to find out.

I’m so hurt, I could care less about Arethas sudden chart success because I’d rather have the Legend herself. I cant say the same for a certain “queen”…

What a sad time to rejoice in something so stupid as iTunes chart. The lady died and you idiots are concerned with Nicki shake my head. Such sad individuals with no parental guidance in their lives.

Shouting from the rooftops: Thank You for inspiring others Aretha and bringing us together from the depths of your soul. Like DeNetria Champ sings When “God gets through”, You shine. R.I.P.
