Drake has over 50 billion streams, but has he reached the 25 million mark in album sales (physical and/or digital, not including streaming points)??? If not, then music listeners suggest that his music is only good for streaming but not purchasing or collecting. Adele, Taylor and Beyoncé sell way more albums than Drake but are far less streamed than Drake. So, is Drake really winning with a “huge” music milestone, especially since he puts out a new song weekly and a new album fortnightly???

I just feel times are changing. The only reason why bey & taylor fans buy albums is to show their fav is Superior. Music listener do not think his music is only good to stream. They pay for a streaming service monthly so why would anybody besides die hard fans purchase an album when they can stream it all day everyday? it just doesn’t make sense. He’s winning, also bey & jay made a combine album, which should have sold a ton, however it only manage to sell 70K

You make a lot of great points.

Drake is clearly a digital artist, which may not be a bad thing depending on how you feel. So I guess he’s winning in his own way? However, If I were Drake I’d be less concerned with competing with the Adele’s and Beyonce’s Of the world and more with being taken seriously as a hip hop artist and making classic hip hop albums. Drake is a pop star. None of his recent efforts will ever be classics.

I like how you lames quickly forget that artist like Drake and Rihanna who are streaming forced sold millions in pure sales before streaming game about. These artist has been running it 10+ years in the game. Streaming just came about 2 yrs ago. Stop down playing it because your favs can’t survive with the times. Selling 70k first week? What a joke.

    • Whoops ???‍♀️?? August 9, 2018

Oh no bebe. Can’t survive? Rihanna had to have Samsung by her albums… so they could give it away… for the low low price of $0.00 sis. Let us please not get big and bold and forget the very obvious fear of flopping that surrounded her entire last album rollout. After 3 “buzz” singles that failed to have any impact, Adele chased her out of her “Rihvember” so she couldn’t leech off of Black Friday like she usually does. Then she hastily ran back to the microwave with her tail between her legs to cook BBHMM and Work after swearing she wanted to be timeless and that didn’t catch. Her tour flopped. And you know it’s not a rihanna era if she doesn’t take off all of her clothes because she seems to think that’s a sufficient substitute for a real video concept. Those were all forgotten. And to top it off, she went home Grammy-less. “Cant survive.” If 70k is a joke 460 is a better one. That resulted in a 2 year long “ha-ha”.

You make it sound like Rihanna is or has ever been a blockbuster seller. She has a lot to be proud of but, Please relax. Jay Z has like 15 albums, that old man is 40-something years old. Beyoncé has been here for 20+ Years. The comparisons speak to their impact, not rihanna and drake’s. And honestly, I don’t like the rihanna/Beyoncé comparisons because it conveniently distracts from comparing rihanna to her own peers. Because Beyoncé surpassed all of hers. Has Rihanna?
