Ariana Grande has arrived in the UK to continue the promotional push for new album ‘Sweetener.’
And with the set sitting pretty at #1 on the Official UK Album Chart, it’s only fitting that the songbird hits one of the most potent platforms available – BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge.
Backed by a full band, the 25-year-old took vocal flight with hit single ‘God Is A Woman.’ She also performed ‘R.E.M’ and tackled Thundercat’s critically acclaimed jam ‘Them Changes.’

Ariana sings better than Adele tho but yes Adele is much more popular.
Adele makes better music than her though… And Adele makes songs that actually get remembered. Ariana does not have one classic, iconic hit. After 4 albums. And I don’t think Adele has Ariana’s range or vocal versatility but she sings with wayyy more power and depth. And she has better technique and control. And again, Adele makes better music, which is far more Important than simply hitting big notes just for the hell of it.
Naw Ariana’s technique and control is better. Adele is the literal meaning of one trick pony. Every song sounds the same, every live performance the exact same as the record and it’s consistent but boring. She has three albums exactly the same but I do like a lot of her songs but as a vocalist Ariana is Better and has the potential to only get better. Adele is good too but Ariana is better and more exciting vocally
Ariana absolutely has more potential and she is more vocally exciting. Adele can only do so much. Trust me, I have criticism for Ariana because I know she has the potential. But I don’t think Ariana’s vocals are as good as they were 5 years ago. And yeah Adele’s music/style is not for everybody, so I agree with you there.
The main point is that Ariana is really wasting time servicing these 13 year olds because it’s not like its really getting her anywhere. It’s not like she’s a touring force like Beyoncé, collecting number 1’s like Rihanna or Mariah, selling albums out of her ass like Taylor, or sweeping the Grammys like Adele. By album number 4 they were light years ahead, and Ariana doesn’t have to be them, but it does beg the question, with her talent, why is it taking her so long? If she’s doing everything right and there’s no criticism to be given, why isn’t she hitting milestones nearly every other mainstream pop star had at this point? Ariana’s great voice isn’t gonna mean anything at the end of the day if people don’t have any classic hit to remember it by.
@whoops if this were ten years ago I could agree but it’s 2013. Of all acts maybe 3% are actually doing something. Her music is pretty light but in 2018 even beyonce is only a vocalist love in concert and hasn’t been a true vocalist on record since 2011. The game is much different. Ariana still getting number 1 albums and top ten hits so she’s afforded some success in an industry that doesn’t afford much anymore. The artists you named are mostly older and far well established. That’s true to a certain extent. I’m not expecting Ariana to sell a million albums in one week like Taylor but I do expect her to be selling way better than people like Selena Gomez and Cardi B. And she’s not. So even if Ariana is a different era, how is that an excuse for her lack of success in getting a signature song, when Cardi and Camilla are newer than her and have done that?? Yes, Ariana is doing better than them in a lot of ways too. But that reasoning simply just doesn’t explain why Ariana has yet to make one memorable song.

Adele is super awesome too. Ariana is very talented. She sung extremely well here. She added some extra juice. Furthermore, more range doesn’t necessarily make you better.
Is she ever gon change that hairstyle tho? How much you want to bet with me it’s 2050 and she’s on her 15th album and still rocking the High ponytail?

It’s the whole Lolita things she’s promoting she used the damaged hair story for a minute but these Caucasian girls are out here lacefronting it as well so he has no excuse but certainly the funds.
She occasionally has her wig down for high fashion shoots but I think that because they don’t want a 12 year on their cover, but she resorts back to long boots, oversized jumper and ponytail.
Has anyone noticed that she never used to talk so childlike and cutsie before.

That being said, although not a fan of this album, I realised that I can understand the majority of what she’s singing without having to look up the lyrics.
The terrorist attack really helped her career a little bit. Not much though since she still has to release a song with at least a little potential of being remembered in the future. vocally, she has range but sounds annoying to me. Now that you guys mention Adele… there´s a reason why Adele demolishes basic people like Ariana. Music and voices is more than range.
