New Video: Lauren Jauregui – ‘Expectations’

Published: Wednesday 24th Oct 2018 by Sam

It’s flight-time for Fifth Harmony’s Lauren Jauregui.

The 22-year-old songstress sets sail on her solo journey with the release of debut single ‘Expectations’ – the video for which was unleashed moments ago.

Fittingly titled, the track arrives amidst ample excitement for the soulful voiced starlet – who signed with industry juggernaut Columbia Records (home of Beyonce and Adele) earlier this year.

Its stunning, stylized visual embraces the monochrome and sees Lauren get her cinematic on.

Watch the ‘Expectations’ video after the jump…

Salute to Lauren for serving up a video that skilfully sews together beauty, performance, and storytelling.

The clip, which she helped to creatively direct, encapsulates the aura of the song brilliantly and, above all, visually anchors Lauren’s point of difference. From both her group and her female contemporaries. All from her first swing of the bat.

Already #8 on iTunes, this is shaping up to be a hit. And deservingly so.

Why they hyping up the black girl when this one clearly has the better vocals

      • Klorie October 24, 2018

Thank you!!! This one feel more genuine and more real with herself. Nor is trying too hard and manufactured.

      • Mark111 October 24, 2018

Because she’s a full on entertainer, the other is another White girl trying to sound Black. We have enough of those.

      • nunya October 25, 2018

  2. The Empress October 24, 2018

Video does not do the song justice. The choreography looks like Britney Spears at age 50.

  8. Sandra October 24, 2018

The song is one bar from generic, and although she has a good voice it’s nithibg out of the ordinary. I’ll wait for the next single

  13. Haterz Gon’ Hate October 24, 2018

I‘m surprised….. vocally not what i was expecting – Night yet turn out to be a studio singer but the girl got a nice tone. Her voice actually held my attention more than Camilla and Normandi. Sure she was as stiff as s board, but for a debut at least the video had a story line

Love the moody, soulful R&B/blues rock song. Her voice is utterly captivating, very emotive. Gotta say It’s risky to release this as her debut solo single, this isn’t really marketable in pop today in order to be very successful. Normally new artists, especially having come from a pop girl group, would get a major artist to jump on a single and perform something that’s trendy. I’m not sure releasing this first is commercially viable, but it’s great, and a great intro to the likely fusion world of her debut album (can’t wait for that)
