A #1 in both the US and UK, the track has become one of the songbird’s most successful releases yet.
And its reign looks set to intensify thanks to the arrival of its movie-themed visual.
Grande tributes classics such as ‘Bring It On,’ ‘Legally Blonde,’ and ‘Mean Girls.’

Love all the references, clueless, bring it on, mean girls etc. she got it completely right with this single and video. Her era was shaky but still came out on top with a #1, a great album and what is shaping up to be a successful tour.

It’s a cute video as expected. I’m still waiting to see an original concept from her though. I get being inspired but she often centers her “artistry” around other people’s iconic ideas.

Lol Exactly. Next she’ll develop a Hello Kitty obsession like Mariah. I also hear a little Kehlani on this track (and on her Christmas EP she did a couple years ago). But the music isn’t my biggest issue. Ariana has a habit of adopting classic themes and vibes which essentially distracts from the fact that she has no original ideas. From her videos to her live performances, she’ll often either use a movie reference to guide her production or she’ll simply theme it with that “old hollywood” ‘50s set up, and at first I thought it was fine that she draws inspiration from those things, but now, it just seems like it’s being used as a substitution for originalality, which I’m not here for. Honestly I don’t know if she’s this smart but It’s like she’s strategically mimicking somebody or something else that’s already iconic and using that association to put her on that same level.
I actually like this song & sadly anything involving a Kartrashian always turns me off!!??♂️

This is one of those songs that you wouldn’t expect to be a massive bop at first but it grows on you and now it’s like oh yea this is a pop hit that I feel !
