Normani Breaks Silence On Debut Solo Album / Addresses Future Of Fifth Harmony

Published: Thursday 15th Feb 2018 by Sam

Normani is ready for her solo close-up.

The fiery Fifth Harmony performer officially set sail on her singular journey yesterday with the debut of Khalid collaboration ‘Love Lies.’

With the 21-year-old striking out on her own, two consistent questions have arisen – what can we expect of her album and what is the future of 5H.

In a brief but sweet interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1 radio, the rising star revealed all.

Details below…

When speaking on her as yet untitled solo LP, Normani confirmed that she’s about “30% in” and that “there’s gonna be some bad ass collabs.”

Addressing the fate of Fifth Harmony, she offered fans hope saying:

“We’re resilient. It’s literally been us against the world. Whether that’s together or apart. So we’ll always have some place to call home – and that’s Fifth Harmony.”

Exciting times.

It appears that while 5H will remain the base, the ladies are respectfully allowing one another to explore the length and breadth of their creativity.

She’s the only one who looks and performs like a star in that group.

    • Meme February 15, 2018

You have to be kidding me. I like Normani (2nd fav) but she could never be Camila.

      • Jamie February 15, 2018

Why does she need to be? She’s great on her own! It’s certainly, by far better than being you!

      • SMH February 15, 2018

You say that as if Camila is something spectacular lol. Get real.

      • The truth hurts February 16, 2018

Nobody wants be a 2nd tier taylor swift victim.. oh wait that’s what Camila wants to be.

      • @Nate February 16, 2018

What is Camilla? If these girls perform on an award show(in their OWN eras) at the same year, any of them.. Most people will go, “what is Camilla”. It’s cute, but it’s also basic. Normani got it! And she has a personality too! On top of being that bad b**** who broke the splits at the MTV awards?! How many times had that happened before?!?

    • Meme February 15, 2018

P.S being a bad bish and fierce doesn’t equate to Starpower. We’ve been so fooled in thinking that Beyonces style is the only type of style for black females.

    “Bad ass collabs”
Translation…. this album is full of collabs with ten tracks.

    • The Wig Snatcher February 15, 2018

      Don’t hate, hō.

  3. DanYiel Iman February 15, 2018

I’m here for her & her talents!! I actually like her vocals!!

  4. Smashing February 15, 2018

I prefer her as star over Camila any day…*Kanye shrugs*

  5. GrapeJuice Fan February 15, 2018

If only she could actually sing ?

  6. GurlWepa1989 February 15, 2018

She doesn’t have e the star power like Camila. She’ll be another Tinashe if she lucky. Just keeping it real.

    • Meme February 15, 2018

She wouldn’t even be that. Maybe a sevyn streeter

      • iamdiego February 15, 2018

You say that as if being Sevyn is a bad thing…. this is the reason black women can’t win. As if Nomani and Sevyn aren’t great in their own right. They are both dope and more polished than the member who left 5H. If anything it should show you that the industry likes mediocre gimmicks over talent.

      • Jeans February 15, 2018

        ????????

      • NotHereForStanWars February 16, 2018

Iamdiego ????????????. You said it all. They talk like Camila is a Janet Jackson or Whitney or Beyonce… she has a #1 hit we get it bit does it make a her a long lasting star ? Time will tell… by the way Carly rae jepsen had a #1 song too… anyway black females have to fight as twice as other females but we keep downgrading them and tarnishibg their work because we want any of them to be beyonce Rihanna Nicki or now cardi… let them girls be theirself simple and plain. I have high hopes for normani. She can make it to the top

    • The truth hurts February 16, 2018

Only reason Camila has star power now is because her PR is phenomenal at promoting her mediocrity to the Anglo market that supports white/white latinas

  7. Mark111 February 15, 2018

I knew the Carmel stans would come out hating. These girls won’t even be in the same market and don’t y’akk have a flopping album to buy? Normani will perform circles around that doca girl.

    • iamdiego February 15, 2018

Exactly! Just wait until Normani finds her voice. Baby girl (camila) used to be sloppy af up there with 5h with those mickey mouse vocals. She couldn’t keep up with Normani. It was very smart for her to go solo because she only has to keep up with herself. I like her, but I hate how people act as if she is doing anything great or on another level. Her music STILL sounds like 5H (mixed with taylor swift scraps) the only difference is she doesn’t have to share the check lol Epic is shady af because they are just now starting to back her after she secured her own bag with Havannah ooh nanah lol… a mess.

  8. Sandra February 15, 2018

She doesn’t have the best or strongest singing voice, but there a currently a lot of Caucasian basic singers out at the moment doing well…. Taylor Swift case and point. She might make it and she might not but if I’m honest she is eye catching. If people can still be taking about your splits months on it can’t be all that bad.

  9. Buzz Off! February 15, 2018

    I Like Her But… idk
Her vocals are not that good, even when she’s performing LIVE.. she’s always using the backtracks to carry herself through the performances..

Who I’m waiting for Is For QUEEN DINAAAAAAH ..
    Now, she’s Beyoncé Subsitute..

    • iamdiego February 15, 2018

nahh she’s great and might have the look but there are enough of lil Beyonce’s running around the industry.. I get more a Mariah Carey/Leona Lewis type vibe from her. Great singer, decent performer, but she doesn’t come off authentic for some reason. girl can sing down tho!!!

    • sww February 18, 2018

She is a hating ass wannabe Leona Lewis who feels superior to black people. Her family members call Normani all types or racist colourist names and Dinah even retweeted a comment about dark-skinned girls looking like they have mustaches because of their complextion. Normani dated her cusion and Dinah family would tweet about how black girls were ugly.

She’s a fake nice girl with poor morals and a shady spiteful attitude towards Normani.

  10. cocobutta February 16, 2018

All about timing and just as her vocal is gaining better technique she taking that solo leap.
Although her tone is light, with the right producers she’ll get some hits that carry.

  11. A&R February 16, 2018

(Clears throat) considering that it’s really early and I don’t want to project pressure.. I’m saying this loosely.. this young lady has all the right tools to be one of our next SUPER STARS. And what’s is working in her favor is timing / societal trend shifts. Blackness and dark brown is currently being celebrated. If she plays her cards right, her look meets her God given talent smashed into a Beyoncé work ethic can make her “It”. I’m excited at the possibility and am deeply craving that a woman of her look makes it. She’s also almost always promoted with a positive attitude. Her written and video interviews are always well done. She has an opinion but tends to be shared with tact.

    Yo, I’m rooting for you.
