Hollywood: "50 Cent Has Lost His Hood Appeal"

50fif Hollywood: "50 Cent Has Lost His Hood Appeal"Some of you may remember our trailer post on 50 Cent’s latest movie ‘Righteous Kill’, which he stars in alongside acting heavy-weights Robert DiNero and Al Pacino. However, with the movie’s release drawing nearer, its makers have begun to distance themselves from the G-Unit general, with Hollywood insiders stating it being due to 50 no longer appealing to the ‘Urban audience’. Peep the report below:

Fans may have noticed that 50 has been missing from the promotional ads for his new movie “Righteous Kill” starring Al Pacino and Robert Deniro.

According to a report found on Woooha.com, 50’s absence is due to the filmmaker’s concerns that he is no longer appealing to the “urban market.”

“The real reason the studio cut Curtis out of the campaign is because their research and exit poll information showed that 50 actually was not the urban or young demographic box office draw they were hoping for,” read the report.

“50 basically can’t draw in the core demographic that used to buy his albums by the millions. The box office let down of ‘Get Rich Or Die Trying’ should have been a hint of things to come.”

“It’s no secret in the music world that 50 Cent has lost some mainstream appeal, but in the film world you don’t necessarily need multi-platinum albums to have a successful film career (Common, Mos Def, etc.) you just need to appeal to the urban demo. 50 clearly is losing that appeal.” {Source}

Hardly surprising. Although, I must say, it’s been a pretty rapid fall from grace for 50 – from loosing to Kanye, to G-Unit’s latest LP flopping to this.

Rocsi: "50 Cent Is Garbage"

Check out this video that surfaced recently of BET 106 & Park host Rocsi laying into 50 Cent, when questioned about the ’50 Cent vs Kanye’ chart battle :

I’m kinda taken a-back by her the looseness of her comments. Can’t say I disagree, though LOL. Anyway, peep Rocsi interviewing 50 and the G-Unit yesterday on 106 & Park:

Interesting contrast LMAO…

50 Cent Launches Verbal Attack On Keys

fif2 50 Cent Launches Verbal Attack On Keys Following Alicia Keys controversial comments on ‘Gangster Rap’ recently, the ever-outspoken 50 Cent has launched a scathing verbal attack on the singer:

“I don’t like Alicia Keys no more. If she thinks what they consider gangsta music is [made] to bring black people down then I think my sh*t falls into that category. I don’t like people who don’t like me. I don’t like her then because that’s what provides the life for me.

I think if you ask Ice Cube the same shit, he’ll tell you, “F*ck Alicia Keys” for even saying that. Because the success he’s had as an actor and a businessman, there was no opportunity for that sh*t without N.W.A. But I don’t think that [her] classical sh*t is cool. I don’t give a f*ck if you can classically play the piano. I haven’t been classically trained, because my upbringing, nobody put me in front of a piano at that time. If they did, I would know how to do it as well as she does. I could learn how to play the piano if I was passionate about it right now.

That’s obviously my perspective evaluating what she does, and I could f*cking care less about the sh*t. So she don’t like the music that embodies the harsh realities because they’re not her realities. She hasn’t been subjected to the same things”. {Source}

While 50 does present some valid points, his argument ultimately sinks when considering the wider picture. Yes, he’s had tough experiences, however it’s hard to see what he, himself, is doing musically (or otherwise) to bring about a change in how these ‘realities’ are depicted by the media and rappers themselves. Instead, 50, and others – having long risen above their ‘hood’ beginnings – oft use their platform to release music that a) glorifies a lifestyle they are no longer lead and b) allow it to be used to, as Alicia put it, ‘government forces’ to continue to oppress young black men who aimlessly get caught up in it.

Lol, this is all getting a little wordy and essay-like, however it’s all in the name of healthy debate – something 50 should have considered when articulating his point, as this just seems like another case of 50 running his mouth.

50 Cent: "Young Buck Gone From G-Unit"

young%252Bbuck 50 Cent: "Young Buck Gone From G Unit" It turns out the rumors of friction among Hip-Hop collective G-Unit turned out to be true:

“50 Cent revealed today that the Tennessee rapper was no longer in G-Unit the group, but would still record for the label.

‘You can look at it and see that’s Game [former G-Unit rapper] all the way. I was giving him a chance, giving him the benefit of the doubt [to remain with the group]. You can take this as an official notice right here – pretty much you can say: Young Buck is no longer in the group G-Unit, but signed to G-Unit [Records] as a solo artist’, 50 Cent told DJ Envy, a co-host on the Hot 97 Morning Show with Miss Jones.” {Source}

Maybe he’ll actually have a chance of success on his own…just a thought.

‘Righteous Kill’ (Starring 50 Cent) Trailer

Check out this trailer for the much anticipated ‘Righteous Kill’ movie starring Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino and 50 Cent:

Though I couldn’t tell you what 50′s role in the film is even if I tried lol, I have to give him his props. Considering that many aren’t checking for 50′s music as they once did, keeping his name out there via other means – especially in such a high-profile movie – is a good look on his part. ‘Righteous Kill’ is set to hit theatres in the US on September 12th.

Will you be going to see ‘Righteous Kill’?

Fat Joe Takes Aim At 50 Cent

lil wayne makes it rain Fat Joe Takes Aim At 50 CentRapper Fat Joe has hit out at 50 Cent again, this time in a video where he vows to break 50′s “f**king new teeth”. Check out the report via Contact Music below:

In the footage, which is set to appear on music website All Access later this month (Mar08), the hip-hop star reiterates his desire to fight the In Da Club hitmaker – even though he is positive the G-Unit rapper would win. The 37-year-old – real name Joseph Cartagena – says, “He’s mad. We never fought a one-on-one. He should win. I’m being honest with you. “You can put your money on that guy. I just want to bust his f**king new teeth he got. Wide-open. “What he doesn’t understand is that Fat Joe is straight brave heart. I’m a warrior, win or lose… I’m a warrior.”

Ok then…lol. As much as I feel 50′s career is on a downward spiral, Fat Joe stopped being relevant way before. This just comes off as a desperate attempt to drum up interest in whatever, harsh as it sounds, destined-to-flop album he’s looking to release.

New Song: 50 Cent & Lil’ Kim – ‘Wanna Lick’ (Magic Stick – Part 2)

50centlilkim New Song: 50 Cent & Lil Kim   Wanna Lick (Magic Stick   Part 2) {Image Credit: Kevipod}

In somewhat of a surprising move, 50 Cent and Lil’ Kim have collaborated once again for this new track ‘Wanna Lick’ (Magic Stick – Part 2), the sequel to the 2003 original. This their collaboration for the forthcoming G-Unit LP ‘Shoot To Kill’ (due in December) is kinda unexpected, considering their much publicized ‘beef’ a few years back. Anyway, about the track, it’s pretty good. Not sure if it tops the original, but still decent all the same.

Ja Rule Comments Spark Controversy

jarule Ja Rule Comments Spark ControversyJa Rule was interviewed in the current issue of Complex Magazine. The rapper spoke on the Jena 6 controversy, politics, 50 Cent and homosexuality. Ja’s comments on the latter, inparticular, have caught the attention of the mainstream press – some of whom have branded Ja, real name Jeffrey Atkins, ‘homophobic’. Check out quotes from the interview below:

On Congress & Homosexuality:

“…They got my man Doug Morris under fire and shit, they got him going down to go speak to Congress about hip-hop lyrics, are you fucking serious? There’s a fucking black kid right now about to get 25 years for having a fight with some white kids over hanging the nooses over the white tree, lets get to that. Let’s get into shit like that, because that’s what’s tearing up America, not me calling a woman a bitch or a hoe on my rap songs. And if it is, then we need to go step to Paramount, and fucking MGM, and all of these other motherfuckers that’s making all of these movies and we need to go step to MTV and Viacom, and lets talk about all these fucking shows that they have on MTV that is promoting homosexuality, that my kids can’t watch this shit. Dating shows that’s showing two guys or two girls in mid afternoon. Let’s talk about shit like that! If that’s not fucking up America, I don’t know what is.”

On 50 Cent:

“That’s the difference people don’t understand. Everyone talks about the beef I had with 50; he has beef with all types of rappers, but I’m the only rapper who went and handled my business and went and hollered at him man to man… And the moment I heard he had a record about me, I knew where he resided, I knew where he hung out, I went and seen and him. “Homie, you have a problem with me? What’s happening? You ain’t got to rhyme about it, I’m right here in front of your face.” So that’s how our situation took place, and I handled my business with 50 and 50 knows that. That’s why I’m such a threat to him, that’s why he doesn’t like me so much.”
