Congratulations are most certainly in order for Adele.

Because, despite selling over 16 million copies world wide since last year, her album ’21‘ has now sold enough copies to match a record held by the ‘Titanic’ soundtrack.

Indeed, with 16 weeks spent at #1 in the US, it has now matched the soundtrack’s previously unbeaten chart run.

Chart Check: Rihanna Tops, Katy Drops

d9c2fe622926ea241d192266f6436089 Chart Check: Rihanna Tops, Katy Drops

Review of the refreshed Billboard tally tomorrow will find ‘We Found Love’ back atop the Hot 100 after a brief dethrone by ‘Sexy And I Know It’ duo LMFAO.  For what comes as the 9th non-consecutive week, Rihanna‘s faithful Navy have assisted her float back to rule over the singles chart – helping the songstress notch her longest reign yet on that front.

Elsewhere, gal pal Katy Perry was previously showing unstoppable signs of unseating LMFAO from the top spot, but ‘The One That Got Away’ is looking more like the one that won’t make it to #1 as it drops from 3-6.  Despite an acclaimed remix featuring B.O.B. and discounting the song, the former Mrs. Brand has yet to land her record breaking 6th no. 1 single from parent album ‘Teenage Dream’.

Filling out the rest of the charts, Adele (who is currently number 1 on Billboard’s album tally) continues her double dominance of the top 10 with ‘Set Fire To The Rain’ at no. 4 and ‘Someone Like You’ slipping to number 10.  And, while Jay Z/Kanye West and Flo Rida stay put with ‘Ni**as in Paris’ (#7) and ‘Good Feeling’ (#5) respectively, crooner Bruno Mars moves his ‘It Will Rain’ up to the no. 3 spot.

UK Charts: Adele’s ’21′ Makes History

adele21 UK Charts: Adeles 21 Makes History

With only a few weeks shy of the anniversary of its release, Adele‘s sophomore album ‘21′ has made history yet again!

Indeed, with a whopping 19 non consecutive weeks spent atop the UK Album Chart, it is the longest running #1 album in the country since Simon & Garfunkel’s ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ which held court at the top spot for a mind blowing 33 non-consecutive weeks following its release in 1970.

This comes after the project was confirmed as being 2011′s highest selling album world wide with over 15 million copies sold, and after the singer picked up multiple nominations at the 2012 Grammy Awards, surpassing the efforts of chart rivals Rihanna, Lady GaGa and Katy Perry.

Well done Adele!

Chart Check: Adele Rolls In 2012 Atop Billboard Charts

af89ddbfafdf280049751bcd6d04d4b1 Chart Check: Adele Rolls In 2012 Atop Billboard Charts

‘Rolling In the Deep’ diva Adele’s ’21′ album is still rolling over competition on both album and single charts despite debuting almost a year ago.   Already crowned 2011′s best selling album and spending 43 of its 44 week shelf-life in Billboard’s top 5, the songstress moved back to #1 after moving an additional 144k albums this week.  Such feat ties her with fellow female powerhouse vocalist Whitney Houston’s 1986 self-titled debut for a 14 week run atop Billboard’s album charts.  The only other female (or female led) albums to know such reign would be ‘The Bodyguard’ soundtrack (20 weeks from 1992-1993) and Carole King‘s ‘Tapestry’ (15 weeks in 1971).

On the singles front, the British beauty is commanding the lower half of the chart’s top 10 with ‘Someone Like You’ and ‘Set Fire To the Rain’ at no.8 and no.9 respectively.  At the chart’s higher end, ‘Party Rock Anthem‘ duo extend their top 10 reign at #1  and #6 respectively with their party favorites ‘Sexy and I Know It’ and ‘Party Rock’.  Filling out the top five, gal pals Rihanna and Katy Perry can be found at #2 and #3 respectively with ‘We Found Love’ and “The One That Got Away”.

Finally, while the ladies have run this motha- for quite sometime, the men are finally getting in on some of the action.  Bruno Mars makes a splash with ‘It Will Rain’ at #4, Flo Rida makes good at #5 with ‘Good Feeling’, and Jay Z/Kanye settle at #7 with ‘Ni**as In Paris’.
