As reported yesterday, Alexandra Burke is set to take up residency at the iconic Royal Albert Hall, paying live homage to the soundtrack of movie ‘Lady Sings The Blues’.
Promoting the stint ahead of its June kick off, the 24-year-old revealed the stunning snap above. Given that ‘Lady’, which starred Diana Ross, told the story of Jazz singer Billie Holiday, it’s clear that that is exactly who the X Factor graduate is channelling here. Stunning.

Alexandra Burke is one busy busy girl.
The Pop powerhouse is currently hard at work on her third studio album (which will also serve as her American debut), however she is set to take brief break from recording this June to take up residency at London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall.
In what appears to be a strategic move to re-position Burke as a Soulful siren, the 24 year old will pay homage to the soundtrack of classic Diana Ross movie ‘Lady Sings The Blues’. As many will note, the 1972 original told the story and celebrated the songs of Billie Holiday.

Cop a gander of R&B beauties Alexandra Burke and LeToya Luckett.
The pair was snapped catching up at an NBA All-Star event in Houston, Texas over the weekend.
Brit-bred Burke was in H-Town recording her third studio album, while former Destiny’s Child member Luckett resides there (when not working in Los Angeles). No word on when Lady L will be releasing her own third project, however she’s by no means idle. The 31 year old is a series regular on BET sitcom ‘Second Generation Wayans’ and is set to star in a new Gospel production.
More power to the ladies in their respective hustles?
Randomness: Does anyone else think a collaboration between the two would be super interesting? It wouldn’t be the first time LeToya has joined forces with a UK songstress. Indeed, her sophomore set ‘Lady Love’ housed the sublime Estelle collaboration ‘Take Away Love’.

Taking a brief break from recording her third studio album, Alexandra Burke made an emotionally charged appearance on BBC’s ‘From The Heart’.
Joined by her mother Melissa Bell, the singer relayed how kidney disease (which affects Bell) has impacted their family. The tear-jerking interview was followed by a rousing performance of ’Can’t Give Up Now’ – a song made popular by Mary Mary. Jazz maestro Jools Holland backed Burke together with a full band.

As sophomore albums go, Alexandra Burke‘s effort ‘Heartbreak On Hold’ was criminally underrated. Released last May, the Dance heavy set was hailed by fans, yet shunned by certain media sects for reasons as puzzling now as they were then.
Hoping to appease all on bases on her next outing, the X Factor graduate has revealed that she’s slowing down the tempo and channelling a more Soulful sound for LP number three (which also dubs as her US debut).
