From the smooth sounds Joe and Ginuwine in the 90s -to the Hip Hop driven endeavors of Chris Brown and Trey Songz in the noughties.

Troubled singer Bobby Brown is set to release his autobiography next month. Expectedly, his controversial marriage to ex-wife Whitney Houston is a topic the former New Edition star doesn’t shy away from. Check out extracts via The New York Post below:
“I never used cocaine until after I met Whitney. Before then, I had experimented with other drugs, but marijuana was my drug of choice,” Brown writes in “Bobby Brown: The Truth, the Whole Truth and Nothing But,” out next month. “At one point in my life, I used drugs uncontrollably. I was using everything I could get my hands on, from cocaine to heroin, weed and cooked cocaine.”
As far as his 15-year marriage to Houston is concerned, it “was doomed from the very beginning. Within the first year we separated, with several more to follow,” Brown writes. “I think we got married for all the wrong reasons. Now, I realize Whitney had a different agenda than I did when we got married . . . I believe her agenda was to clean up her image, while mine was to be loved and have children.”
Whitney, he alleges, had been under “a lot of pressure. The media was accusing her of having a bisexual relationship with her assistant, Robin Crawford. Since she was the American Sweetheart and all, that didn’t go too well with her image . . . In Whitney’s situation, the only solution was to get married and have kids. That would kill all speculation, whether it was true or not. In the short, I think I got caught up in the politics and ended up marrying one of the biggest stars in the world.”
But Brown notes that he was no saint in their relationship, confessing in his book, “I am guilty of sleeping with other women . . . Women are always throwing themselves at you. I’m only human, so I would make the mistake and bite the hook sometimes . . . I let the testosterone take over.”
One of his most public indiscretions was an affair with former exotic dancer Karrine “Superhead” Steffans. “Yes, I’ve slept with her,” he confesses. “Yes, I’ve spent several nights at her house. But she was only good for what her nickname stood for.”
Reps for Houston, who divorced Brown a year ago, did not return our call for comment.
SMH at him attempting portray himself as the innocent party – for the most part. The way I see it, they were a mismatched pair to begin with. It really says a lot about his current predicament, if he has to resort to pimping details of his former marriage for money, instead of…(shock horror)…actually working. The Queen of Hip Hop/Soul, Mary J. Blige has teamed up with funk-rock collective Maroon 5 for a remix to the band’s current single ‘Wake Up Call’. Produced by Mark Ronson, the remix works on a number of fronts – it’s great to see Mary venturing out of her R&B niche as she did with her collabo with U2 on ‘One’.

Although his pelvic thrusts were geriatric and his tongue aerobics creepy, Brown got through his portion of the New Jack Swing show without major incident. The “King of R&B” (who appeared with one-half of Jodeci, two-thirds of Tony! Toni! Tone! and one-third of Guy) ably revisited his post-New Edition, pre-Whitney Houston peak, including “Don’t Be Cruel,” “Roni” and, of course, “My Prerogative.” As is always the case with Brown, however, what he said was far more interesting than what he sang.
“Baltimore!” Brown shouted at one point. When the crowd failed to react, he asked, “Where am I right now?” After figuring out he was playing to a Washington crowd, Brown said, “They told me I was in Baltimore — I guess so I could come out here and embarrass myself.” The singer also played coy about his reported October heart attack: “You all think I had a heart attack, but I’m all right. I made it. They told me I had an hour and 15 minutes, now they’re telling me I only got 40. I only got 40 minutes, but I still got broke off. I can pay child support for another year — y’all won’t be seein’ my [behind] in jail no more!”

Whitney Houston has been awarded sole custody of her and Bobby Brown’s daughter, Bobbi-Kristina (14) in a divorce hearing on Wednesday. The divorce of the controversial couple was been approved by the courts and will become final on April 24th. Check out an extract of the PEOPLE.com report:
At times dabbing her eyes with a tissue during the court session, Houston testified that she did not require spousal or child support and that Bobbi Kristina could not depend on her father.
“He’s unreliable,” Houston said of Brown, according to the Associated Press. “If he says he’s going to come, sometimes he does. Usually he doesn’t.”
Houston declined to comment to reporters after the hearing. Attorney Ram Cogan, representing Brown (who did not attend the hearing), said he will file a petition on behalf of his client to overturn the judge’s decision.
Houston filed for legal separation from Brown on Sept. 8, and then filed for divorce in mid-October.
On Dec. 28, she requested a default judgment to fast-track the dissolution of the marriage.
Since their separation, Houston has been recording a new album with J Records president Clive Davis in Los Angeles.
Whitney ain’t playing. She’s making moves to sort out her life, yet there’s no sign of Bobby doing the same; she deserves Bobbi-Kristina. So much for the friendly relationship Bobby claimed he and Whitney were maintaining.
The video for Kelly Rowland’s new single ‘Like This’ will premier on MTV’s TRL this upcoming Monday (26th). Rowland will be there to showcase the vid herself. Insiders claim that the video is cyber-heavy and will feature a shower scene. Interesting. Be sure to check back here for the video.
It’s official: Foxy Brown has lost her damn mind. A warrant was issued for the arrest of the rapper after she failed to attend a court hearing regarding an assault charge.
Bobby Brown has plans to become the next Flava Flav. The soon-to-be divorced singer is apparently shopping around a reality show that pits contestants against each other for his affections. This comes after his first reality show ‘Being Bobby Brown’ was cancelled upon the news of his divorce from his superstar- ex Whitney Houston.
What’s up with all these stars repeatedly running in with the law? Busta, Foxy and now Bobby Brown (again). Brown was arrested yesterday for non-payment of child support fines and failing to show up in court. More embarrasingly, he was arrested outside his daughters’ (not Bobbi Kristina) cheerleading competion. Brown, 40, was said to be co-operative and is expected to post bail shortly.
Bobby Brown says that he is still “friends” with his soon-to-be ex-wife Whitney Houston.
The ‘I Will Always Love You ‘ singer filed for divorce from Brown in October last year- after 14 years of marriage; however Brown insists that the pair are maintaining a civilised relationship for the sake of their 13-year-old daughter Bobbi Kristina.
He told People Magazine: “We’re trying to work everything out so the divorce goes right – not like a Hollywood divorce. We’re friends, you know. We’re friends.
“We have been close because of who we are together, and what that child (Bobbi Kristina) means to us. She’s the greatest thing in both of our lives. We just appreciate each other now that we know the direction that we both want to go.”
I guess the rumours of a Whitney/Bobby reconciliation have been proven wrong. Besides Whitney’s spokesperson recently putting out a statement to deny the claims, take a look at these pics:
