Fergie Performs ‘The Star Spangled Banner’ At Obama Easter

Black Eyed Peas front-woman Fergie performed the US National Anthem at the Obama’s first White House Easter Egg Roll event this past extended weekend. Hit play to hear the atrociousness of a performance. It really should go without saying: some people should just not touch certain songs. Awful.

Ciara On By 106 & Park

Ciara stopped by BET’s 106 & Park yesterday to talk about her new project ‘Fantasy Ride’ project. Among the discussed, the 22 year old spoke on her collaboration with embattled label mate Chris Brown, a track called ‘Turntables’ and whether it will remain on the album, the LP’s release date (please believe it has changed again!) and more. Peep part 1 above and part 2 of the interview below:

Though Ms. Harris always comes across pretty well in interviews, these constant push-backs of her album don’t bode all that well. Hopefully everything works out with the record; for what it’s worth the radio reception of her and Justin’s collabo ‘Love, Sex, Magic’ has been pretty good.
Tidbit: I guess Chris Brown won’t be making it onto the album. Though I’m awaiting the full details in the ‘ChRihanna’ drama, it really is seeming like he’s done – his own label yanking him off his label mates album.

New Song: Ludacris – ‘What Them Girls Like (ft. Chris Brown & Sean Garrett)’

ludacris New Song: Ludacris What Them Girls Like (ft. Chris Brown & Sean Garrett) The first single from Ludacris’ forthcoming album ‘Theatre of The Mind’, ‘What Them Girls Like’, surfaced a few hours ago. Produced by Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins, the cut also features both Chris Brown and Sean Garrett. Though the chorus is a lil repepitive, I must say I’m overly liking the production on this one (it’s a club banger, no doubt). Luda may just have a hit on his hands with this one.
‘Theatre of The Mind’ hits stores October 21st.

Hit or Miss?

‘Hancock’: Will You Be Seeing It?

'Hancock': Will You Be Seeing It? Will Smith’s much-anticipated new superhero flick ‘Hancock’ was simultaneously released in both US and UK yesterday. Though generally receiving a ’so-so’ response from most critics, the film is poised to deliver Smith’s highest grossing debut to date, with early projections touting somewhere in the region of $80 Million being grossed in its first weekend.
So with that said, That Grape Juice wants to know if you’ll be going to see ‘Hancock’. If not, why? If you’ve seen it already, your view?

Rihanna Talks Image

Rihanna Talks Image In a recent interview with The Guardian over here in the UK, R&B/Pop star Rihanna spoke about her ‘edgy’ image, asserting that it was her own decision to deviate from the industry norm of ‘long blonde’ hair who she identified Beyonce, Ciara, Christina Millian and Mariah as rocking:

“I felt like the whole world had long, curly, flowy blonde hair. Ciara, Beyonce, Mariah, Christina Milian. Everybody wanted to be like everybody else. So I cut my hair and they made me put my long hair back in as extensions. The second time, I didn’t have any discussions, nothing. I just cut it, I dyed it black, I went into the studio making music my way. I found myself all at once. I like things strong, edgy, a little to the left. I don’t like things that are expected – nothing cliched. When I first started, I didn’t know anything. I didn’t really have a say. The second album, I got a little more freedom”

Granted today Rihanna’s image seems pretty legit, I find her comments real hard to swallow. IMO the whole ‘I’m was good girl, now I’m bad…look at my black hair and dominatrix outfits’ was overly contrived and screamed ‘record label construct’.

Snoop Performs ‘Sensual Seduction’ on Ellen

Snoop Dogg stopped by the ‘Ellen Degeneres’ show earlier this week to perform his latest single ‘Sensual Seduction’. Though kinda weary of the song at first, I have to give Snoop his props -he came with something ‘different’ this time and it turned out great.

In other Snoop news, his reality show ‘Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood’ premieres this Sunday in the US at 10:30/9:30c on the E! channel.

Chris Brown’s ‘Kiss Kiss’ Storms To The Top

chris brown Chris Browns Kiss Kiss Storms To The TopR&B star Chris Brown has stormed to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart with current single ‘Kiss Kiss’. The song, which features T-Pain, has seen a steady increase in digital downloads which allowed for it’s move into the top spot from #2 the week prior. Brown’ new album ‘Exclusive’ hits stores November 6th.

This must come as a relief to his camp, as there inevitably would have been alot of worry after the first single ‘Wall to Wall’ pretty much tanked. Though ‘Kiss Kiss’ is an improvement on that track, I’m kinda surprised why the label went with both songs as singles as there is better material on the album. Be on the lookout for a review of ‘Exclusive’ later this week or early next.

Bow Wow & Omarion – ‘Girlfriend’ Video

The video for the first single from Bow Wow and Omarion’s joint album ‘Face Off’ premiered yesterday. Considering I had my preconceptions about the album, I must say that I am liking this song and video; nothing great, but still pretty good. ‘Face off’ hits stores December 4th.

Beyonce To Release New Album Next Year

009 1 Beyonce To Release New Album Next YearIn news that will no doubt please her fans (and infuriate everyone else), Beyonce is set to release another full-length album next summer. Speaking at the New York launch of the Armani ‘Diamonds’ fragrance (which she is endorsing), the singer revealed her plans to release a new CD, as well as another movie next year – which she hopes will be ’something a little darker, but still musical’. {Source}
Lord have mercy! Although, it would have been two years since the release of ‘B’ Day’ by the time the new album drops, this is beyond overexposure. She been promoting ‘B’Day’ for the better part of a year – not forgetting the re-release and it’s 10,000 videos; so why the rush out another CD so soon? Yes, she’s on her way to greatness, but it’s like she we’re being force-fed her. Even the greats, such Michael Jackson, take time with their projects. Are Matthew and co scared she’ll be forgotten or what? She could make another CD in two weeks again (ala ‘B’Day’) for all I care, but she really needs to disappear for a minute…damn.
