In a recent interview with Vlad-TV, R&B crooner Ray J elaborated on the decline of his sister Brandy’s singing career. Ray noted that his sister is currently waiting on the right deal from a label that will grant her freedom in her career for the right payment. The singer went further to divulge that he is collaborating with Brandy to develop two new shows through their new production company, R&B Productions.
It goes without saying that Brandy is one of the most talent and technically skilled singer sin the game right now. Her rare vocals are easily distinguishable amongst the filth that has been clogging the airwaves in recent years. However, although I understand that she is trying to ‘get hers’ by waiting on the right cheque, the current industry has become increasingly competitive with little room for complacency. Regardless of how big her career used to be, the fact remains that her last album was commercially unsuccessful and many labels will be uncertain about how to handle her.
Hopefully she is able to work something out soon because after listening to her amazing vocals on the ‘Human‘ LP, (especially ‘ A Capella/Something’s Missing’) I felt insulted the next time I heard a certain singer chant “eh eh eh” on the radio.
R&B vocalist Brandy was spotted in California recently. The ‘Long Distance’ singer guested at the Microdine product launch & web concert at SIR Studios in Hollywood. Brandy has been working on the followup to her ‘Human’ LP for quite some time but is yet to indicate when the new record will hit stores. Check out a 2nd pic below:
Timbaland and Brandy aka Bran’Nu rocked the stage at Y100′s ‘Jingle Ball 2009′ which was held at Fort Lauderdale’s Bank Atlantic Center last evening. The concert also featured performances from a host of other entertainers who gathered to ring in the Christmas season. Peep more photos from the event below:

Sexy siren Shakira unleashed her inner she wolf for the fans.
Jordin Sparks worked it out on stage.
Finally, rapper Flo Rida had to cool things down during his blazing hot performance.
R&B star Brandy put her sweet harmonies on the bench for a night, instead debuting her rap alter-ego (Bran’ Nu) live at Timbaland‘s ‘Shock Value II’ album release party in Miami last week. You can check out how the 29 year old did above.
Timbaland hosted an album release party for his new LP ‘Shock Value II’ at LIV nightclub at Fontainebleau Miami Beach this weekend. The super producer (seen above with wife Monique) also performed ‘Meet in tha Middle’ with Brandy aka Bran’Nu and ‘Lose Control’ with Interscope Records’ newest act JoJo. Music legend Russell Simmons posed with Serena Williams and Brandy.
Hip-Hop rocker Travis McCoy also made an appearance.
With the release of Timbaland’s highly anticipated ‘Shock Value II’ on the horizon, a new song from the LP has surfaced. The track, entitled ‘Meet In The Middle’, features the multi-talented Brandy who unleashes her rapping alter ego, Bran’ Nu. Brandy guests on two songs on ‘Shock Value II’ which hits stores on December 8th.
The production on this one is c-razy! The piano and the beat mix perfectly or should I say ‘meet in the middle’. Additionally, this track shows how dynamic Brandy can be as an artist. In fact, she spit her verse better than Timbaland did! This only makes me even more excited to hear what she is going to put forward on her next release which will supposedly hit stores sometime in 2010. Great stuff.
R&B songstress Brandy took to her bathroom again on film, this time offering her rendition of Sam Cooke’s classic ‘A Change Gonna Come’. Put simply, this was off-the-charts! I literally got chills listening to this. If there was ever proof needed as to why Ms. Norwood remains one the industry’s premier vocalists, this is it! The power, the range, the runs… wow…
R&B singer Brandy took to Youtube to offer her own rendition of The Wiz classic ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’.
Disclaimer: As regular visitors will know, we love Brandy around these sides…
However, for as good as she sounded, I couldn’t help but think she over sung the song. Too much rifting and ad-libbing (literally on almost every word). Nonetheless, Ms. Norwood gets a pass; after all these years in the game, she is still stands as one of premier vocalists in the industry.
R&B star Brandy took to Twitter last night to reveal her new short hair-do. As usual, I’m finding it quite funny seeing some of our fellow blogger friends with headlines to the tune of ‘Brandy Chops Off Her Hair!!’ It’s her hair alright…hair she clearly has a receipt for! Obviously weave folks. This will be the Ciara ‘long-then short-then long again’ episode from a couple of months back.
