New Video: Chris Brown – ‘Crawl’

Controversial entertainer Chris Brown has just debuted his the video for his new single ‘Crawl’ on ‘The Wendy Williams Show’. The clip was directed by Joseph Khan and features a cameo by popular model, Cassie. Additionally, Brown answered questions during an intriguing interview with Wendy (”how you doinnn?”) and offered yet another apology for his actions against Rihanna. His new LP, ‘Graffiti’, hits stores on December 8th.

Nice video but nothing amazing. Actually, I felt like I was watching a collection of Michael Jackson’s best dance moves sans the ‘moon walk’. Regardless, the clip portrayed the story of the lyrics effectively enough to guarantee a hit. Cassie (who was featured with her clothes on) looked beautiful as always. I sense she should maintain her career as a video/fashion model because it seems to be her true ‘calling’ (we all know singing definitely isn’t).

Tidbit: Was anyone else excited to see if Chris and Wendy would get into a blowout given their recent quarrels? I can only dream I guess…

Behind The Scenes: Beyonce’s ‘Sweet Dreams’ Video (HQ)

Some of you may recall an uber-low quality behind the scenes clip of Beyonce’s latest video for new single ‘Sweet Dreams’ surfacing on the net last week. Well, now the clear, high-quality version has surfaced and it’s looking like a winner. Check it out above.

Confirmed: Usher & Tameka Divorce (See Court Filing)

Confirmed: Usher & Tameka Divorce (See Court Filing)Reports surfaced yesterday suggesting that R&B star Usher has filed for divorce from wife of 2 years Tameka Foster. Today, the speculation was confirmed, with the court divorce filing hitting the net also. Peep the report and the filing below:
ATLANTA (AP) — R&B singer Usher filed for divorce Friday from Tameka Foster Raymond, less than two years after their glitzy wedding at a Georgia resort.

The 30-year-old Grammy-winning artist, whose real name is Usher Raymond IV, filed the petition in Superior Court in Atlanta. Records posted to the court’s Web site did not give any details about the split between the R&B star and his wife, who were married in August 2007.

About 200 people attended the wedding between the two at resort built in the style of a 16th-century-style French chateau on 3,500 hilly acres outside Atlanta.

They have two young sons, 1 1/2-year-old Usher Raymond V and 6-month-old Naviyd Ely Raymond. His wife has three children from a previous marriage.

E-mail and telephone messages to Usher’s publicist were not immediately returned.

In a May 2008 interview with The Associated Press, Usher addressed negative feedback from bloggers over his relationship with his wife, who’s 8 years older than him and was once his stylist.

“People are so attracted to drama. That’s easier to take than a story of righteousness,” Usher said at the time.

“I decided to marry this woman, then I decide to be a father to my child,” he said. “… It’s not like I got caught with a gram of coke in my car or speeding or was caught for murder, so why would I be ridiculed, that’s why I don’t understand – that’s the part that is mind boggling. Why would I be ridiculed for that, even a year later.”

Prior to the marriage, Usher had a string of public romances, most notably his three-year relationship with Chilli from TLC. {Source}

Another one bites the dust. Sad. I see a lot of folk rejoicing and suggesting Usher’s career will hit sky high because of this, yet since when should someone else’s sadness or heartbreak be a good thing in the eyes of others?

The Saturdays Perform At Radio 1 Big Weekend

As one of the biggest acts to emerge from the UK scene over the last year, The Saturdays were to invited to perform at today’s BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend festival in Swindon. The fierce-five piece offered, somewhat, stripped down versions of their biggest hits (I’m guessing to go with the ‘festival’ theme). Peep a selection of their performances above and below, inclusive being ‘Issues’, ‘Work’ and ‘Beggin’:

While their performance of ‘Issues’ was great, as was that of ‘Beggin’, the same can’t really be said for ‘Work’. The track which is hands down their best yet IMO didn’t transcend as well in this particular live setting. Where was the choreography, polished stage presence and whatnot? For what it’s worth, I liked the live instrumentation of the track, though.
Tidbit: Why do people pay to go to shows to stand still and be mute? Don’t some people know it’s a recession?! Wack or otherwise, if paid for, I have to enjoy the show – it’s not even an option not to!
What do you think of the performances?

Bow Wow Retires

Bow Wow Retires
Following the dismal sales of Bow Wow’s most recent LP ‘New Jack City II’ (31, 000 copies to be exact), the rapper has decided to hold true to his earlier promise to hang up the mic:

Shad had me cracking all the way up! If this wasn’t a video full of excuses, I really don’t know what is. Your album belly-flops on the charts and now, all of a sudden, you’ve ‘donedidit’ all and moving on from Hip-Hop LMAO. Blunt as it may sound, I’m pretty sure Hip-Hop stopped caring about Bow Wow a long time ago.
The phrase ‘it’s about quality, not quantity’ comes to mind during this obvious ’save face’ of a clip; of Bow’s 7 albums, how many do you actually have? What’s more, how many were actually any good? I will say, though, Mr Moss, is very smart, as, without being overly pessimistic or hard on the boy, after those sales I can’t see his label holding onto him for too long. It’s looking very much like a ‘retire, before I get my behind dropped!’

Pussycat Dolls – ‘Jai Ho (You Are My Destiny)’ Video

Check out The Pussycat Dolls special video for their version of A.H Rahman’s ‘Jai Ho (You Are My Destiny)- the Oscar winning song from the hit movie ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.
Same ol’, Same ol’ if you ask me. On a random note, their budget for this their 2nd go round must be hella high. Their ‘Doll Domination’ LP belly-flopped on the charts, yet they are churning out video after video, single after single. For that I can’t hate, keep trying till it works, ey?
What do you think of the song / video?

American Idol 2009: Your Thoughts?

I’ve just got through watching this week’s Michael Jackson themed American Idol episodes (we get everything a lil later here in the UK). I must say, while the quality of contestants aren’t as great as previous seasons, a couple have really stood out – namely Danny Goky and Lil Rounds. Peep their performances on this week’s show below:

Danny Goky – ‘P.Y.T (Pretty Young Thing)’

Lil Rounds – ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’

Having watched this season from the start, I’m definitely rooting for these two. Great performances.

What do you think of the performances?

New Song: Britney Spears – ‘Womanizer’

Britney Spears’ hotly anticipated new single ‘Womanizer’ made its premiere just a few hours ago on US radio – 4 days ahead of its official release date. It appears her label caved in to the pressure from disappointed fans, who learned the track had been pushed back a week this week. Anyway, enough of my rambling, check out the track below:

Hmmm. Well, it’s very Pop sounding and by that I mean bubble-gum meets the oh-so-popular Electronica sound that is all the rage these days type of ‘Pop’. I’m kinda puzzled as Britney’s last go-round saw her embrace a much more Urban sound – fusing it with Pop. This has me wondering whether she’s alienated/confused her new acquired Urban audience with this. Whatever the case, there’s no doubt this one will be big.

Britney’s new album ‘Circus’ hits stores December 2nd.

New Song: Brandy – ‘First N’ Luv’ (Snippet)

Brandy - 'First N' Luv' (Snippet) With Brandy’s ‘comeback’ single ‘Right Here (Departed)’ heating up the airwaves, a snippet of, what is said to be, the 2nd single from her forthcoming ‘Human’ LP has surfaced. Produced by Hit Boy, ‘First N’ Luv’ isn’t really sounding like the follow-up I’d been expecting.
Though I never tire of Brandy’s trademark airy delivery/vocal arrangements, the busy/all over the place production makes for a pretty hard listen. Potentially a grower, though; so I will reserve full judgement until hearing the track in its entirety.

Hit or Miss?

Sugababes Working On ‘Funky’ Album

Sugababes Working On 'Funky' Album The UK’s leading girl group, the Sugababes, are reportedly looking to serve up a ‘funkier’ sound on their forthcoming sixth studio LP. Check out the report via Digital Spy below:
Despite the girls vowing to take things slowly earlier this year, the new disc is now expected to be released in October – just one year after they brought out Change.

Orson’s lead singer Jason Pebworth, who has been working with the group in the studio, has predicted that the new record will be their best yet.

“I’ve just come out of the studio with the girls and they’re like machines – they don’t stop working,” Jason told the Daily Star. “You gotta admire them. The new tunes are taking them in a much funkier direction.

“I think this next album will be their finest moment. You’re always trying to do something special for Sugababes because they’re no ordinary pop band.”

The group are expected to perform some of their new tracks at the Virgin Mobile V Festival later this month.

In an industry oversaturated with non-singers with pretty faces, the ‘Babes – who are all great vocalists IMO – continue to stand as a refreshing breathe of fresh air. Having enjoyed the girls last record ‘Change’, I’ll definitely be paying close attention to their new LP.

That Grape Juice Interviews Michelle Williams (Part 2)

michelle+mtv+shoot+7 That Grape Juice Interviews Michelle Williams (Part 2)As many of you guessed correctly, it was Michelle Williams who I caught up with at the Sony BMG UK head office in London last week.
In what serves as a part 2 of sorts to our interview with her back in May, Michelle spoke candidly to That Grape Juice about a number of issues including the recent push-back of her ‘Unexpected’ LP, future plans for the record and label issues. What’s more Michelle, offered a surprising response to that age-old question: “Will we see another Destiny’s Child reunion?”
Be sure to keep it LOCKED on That Grape Juice this week for the goods!

Omarosa: "I Knocked Wendy Out"

OMAROSA 788322 Omarosa: "I Knocked Wendy Out" Reality TV star Omarosa has declared victory over shock jock Wendy Williams, following their spat on Williams’ talk show recently:

“She’s been talking smack about me for the past five years and she thought I’d go on her show, forgetting about it? She’s been so vicious, she couldn’t have expected a tea party!”

“I had some expectation that she would try and up her game, but she lowered it. I find it ironic that she would beg and plead me to come on her show and then be rude and unprofessional when I got there,” says Omarosa, who thinks she won this fight with the radio shock jock. “I knocked Wendy out. She’s so used to bullying people, but for the first time, she met her match.” “She definitely has a face for radio.” {Source}

Ouch…

Do you agree with Omarosa?
