Cassie Laid Into Live On Air – By Charlamagne

cassie Cassie Laid Into Live On Air By Charlamagne Some of you may remember Charlamagne as shock jock Wendy Williams’ former side-kick, and for those who do, you’ll know, like Williams, he’s no holds barred. So whose decision it was to allow Cassie on his show on 100.3 The Beat recently is anyone’s guess. Because, as you probably guessed, he ripped her to shreds live on air. Everything from her vocal ability, to the nude pics, to being a nobody in the ‘Beyonce / Rihanna’ world, to Diddy…this really was slightly uncomfortable to listen to – even if a little funny. Nonetheless, Ms. Ventura kept her composure, which I guess earns her brownie points in terms of following the Media Training 101 handbook.
Anyway enough of my rambling, check out the interview below:

The Saturdays Perform At Radio 1 Big Weekend

As one of the biggest acts to emerge from the UK scene over the last year, The Saturdays were to invited to perform at today’s BBC Radio 1 Big Weekend festival in Swindon. The fierce-five piece offered, somewhat, stripped down versions of their biggest hits (I’m guessing to go with the ‘festival’ theme). Peep a selection of their performances above and below, inclusive being ‘Issues’, ‘Work’ and ‘Beggin’:

While their performance of ‘Issues’ was great, as was that of ‘Beggin’, the same can’t really be said for ‘Work’. The track which is hands down their best yet IMO didn’t transcend as well in this particular live setting. Where was the choreography, polished stage presence and whatnot? For what it’s worth, I liked the live instrumentation of the track, though.
Tidbit: Why do people pay to go to shows to stand still and be mute? Don’t some people know it’s a recession?! Wack or otherwise, if paid for, I have to enjoy the show – it’s not even an option not to!
What do you think of the performances?

Cassie On The Set Of ‘Must Be Love’ Video

Peep this behind the scenes look at the video for the Cassie’s, whose name is on everyone’s lips right now, new single ‘Must Be Love’.
I can’t say either the song or (what we’ve seen of the) video are rocking my world, to be honest. Maybe my judgement is clouded by the fact that I will forever wonder how Cassie has (and even secured) a record deal.
I’m still a little suspicious about the whole leaking of the nude shots of her earlier this week. With promotion for her new single and video ‘Must Be Love’ set to kick off shortly, the timing of the scandal seems oh so suspect.

Pussycat Dolls – ‘Jai Ho (You Are My Destiny)’ Video

Check out The Pussycat Dolls special video for their version of A.H Rahman’s ‘Jai Ho (You Are My Destiny)- the Oscar winning song from the hit movie ‘Slumdog Millionaire’.
Same ol’, Same ol’ if you ask me. On a random note, their budget for this their 2nd go round must be hella high. Their ‘Doll Domination’ LP belly-flopped on the charts, yet they are churning out video after video, single after single. For that I can’t hate, keep trying till it works, ey?
What do you think of the song / video?

Cassie Talks Diddy Rumors

In this recent interview with _______ (LOL), Cassie discussed the rumors about her ‘involvement’ with label head Diddy. Check it out:

Jmx*PTEyMDY2ODA*ODEyMzcmcHQ9MTIwNjY4MDU1Mjc1MyZwPTE4NzYzMiZkPSZuPQ== Cassie Talks Diddy RumorsbT*xJmx*PTEyMjIzNTkwNjgyMjMmcHQ9MTIyMjM1OTA3MTk*MCZwPTE4OTAyMSZkPSZuPSZnPTImdD*mbz*4ZWUxYjlhNTg*ZjE*ODY5YjVmMWY4ODUwYjI1NTg1OQ== Cassie Talks Diddy Rumors

For the record, Cassie seems like a nice girl, really. However, I’m really going to need someone to word these Diddy questions differently, as I find it hard to believe that she still has a deal and is cranking out big-budget videos, with her talent being well…you know the deal with that.
Randomness: Poor Donnie…LOL

New Song: Brandy – ‘First N’ Luv’ (Snippet)

brandy 02 New Song: Brandy First N Luv (Snippet) With Brandy’s ‘comeback’ single ‘Right Here (Departed)’ heating up the airwaves, a snippet of, what is said to be, the 2nd single from her forthcoming ‘Human’ LP has surfaced. Produced by Hit Boy, ‘First N’ Luv’ isn’t really sounding like the follow-up I’d been expecting.
Though I never tire of Brandy’s trademark airy delivery/vocal arrangements, the busy/all over the place production makes for a pretty hard listen. Potentially a grower, though; so I will reserve full judgement until hearing the track in its entirety.

Hit or Miss?

Cassie Interviewed On Hot 97

Cassie stopped by the Angie Martinez Show on New York’s Hot 97 radio station recently. The ‘Me & U’ singer spoke on everything from the rumored relationship with Diddy, Bad Boy label-mates, Rihanna and her feelings going into her new project. Peep the interview below:

For all the criticism levelled against her (95% of which is justified IMO), she does seem to have a really cool personality.

Randomness: I am gonna need someone to ask her flat out whether she ever has been with Diddy, as opposed to whether she is currently dating him. There’s a difference lol…

Any thoughts?

Sugababes Working On ‘Funky’ Album

sugababes222 Sugababes Working On Funky Album The UK’s leading girl group, the Sugababes, are reportedly looking to serve up a ‘funkier’ sound on their forthcoming sixth studio LP. Check out the report via Digital Spy below:
Despite the girls vowing to take things slowly earlier this year, the new disc is now expected to be released in October – just one year after they brought out Change.

Orson’s lead singer Jason Pebworth, who has been working with the group in the studio, has predicted that the new record will be their best yet.

“I’ve just come out of the studio with the girls and they’re like machines – they don’t stop working,” Jason told the Daily Star. “You gotta admire them. The new tunes are taking them in a much funkier direction.

“I think this next album will be their finest moment. You’re always trying to do something special for Sugababes because they’re no ordinary pop band.”

The group are expected to perform some of their new tracks at the Virgin Mobile V Festival later this month.

In an industry oversaturated with non-singers with pretty faces, the ‘Babes – who are all great vocalists IMO – continue to stand as a refreshing breathe of fresh air. Having enjoyed the girls last record ‘Change’, I’ll definitely be paying close attention to their new LP.

Cassie: "I Don’t F*ck For Checks"

cassie+cover+complex Cassie: "I Dont F*ck For Checks" Bad Boy’s Cassie appears in the August/September issue of Complex Magazine. The 21 year old ‘singer’ spoke frankly on a number of issues check extracts from the feature below:
On her voice:

“Based on my past and how my last album came out, I really need to come back much much stronger, I wanted to have more personality. I really want to tell a story when I’m doing a song. Vocally, either you like my voice or you don’t. I’m not trying to blow like Mariah, back when she was doing that.”

On the harshest thing that’s been said about her:

“She’s fu***** for checks. I don’t f*** for checks–I’d rather live on the street.”

On her song “Official Girl” being a marketing ploy to cash in on the P.Diddy rumours:

“Nope. It wasn’t planned. It was just a song I really loved that I heard. Nobody will ever know who “Official Girl” is about. They think it’s about certain people but it’s not. Anything that happens in my personal life is personal. I never actually put anything out there. Nobody’s really known who I’ve dated.”

On dealing with her ethnicity growing up:

“What’s funny about it is, when I was growing up, I wasn’t confused. I knew exactly what I was. My dad’s Filipino, my mom is Mexican, West Indian and black–I’m a little melting pot. In school, you were either black or white. Being Asian really wasn’t anything until I got to high school and was modeling all the time, and it was important because it intrigued people. Black people definitely didn’t claim me before. They were like, ‘Light skinned over there, she’s just not for us.’ It’s all perception. The other day, I was at the drugstore and this girl in line was like, ‘She’s next, the white girl.’ I’m not white. I’m not even close.”

Seems like she’s got a thicker skin this go round. That said, if she’s not doing…well…’you know what’ for tracks/checks, how else could her still having a deal be explained?
