Pick Mary J. Blige’s Next Single

Mary J. BligeOn Mary J. Blige’s official website, fans have been given the chance to vote for the next single to be lifted from her ‘Growing Pains’ album. Note that it’s the third single and not the follow-up to ‘Just Fine’ – which has already been confirmed as ‘Work That’. Having dropped a solid, versatile CD, I think there’s a host of great tracks to choose from. My personal vote goes to ‘Stay Down’ – IMO the album’s standout track, with the most potential for success.

Which song do you think should be Mary’s next single?

Solange Signs With Geffen

l 8a02e27e429cd781c1517ca60 Solange Signs With GeffenIn what comes as, somewhat, of a surprise, it has been announced that Solange Knowles has signed a new recording contract with Geffen Records. The deal, which sees Knowles move to Los Angeles, is a joint-venture between Geffen and Music World Music. Geffen is home to major artists such as Mary J. Blige, Fergie and Keyshia Cole. ‘Solange and The Hadley Street Dreams’, Knowles’ debut for the label, is set to hit stores early next year. {Source}
That’s what I’m talking about! I applaud her for being the first in the Knowles camp to spread her wings and do her own thing. What I’ve heard of her new material has been promising and I’m anticipating the record even more so now. Kelly Rowland, take notes…

New Song: Mary J. Blige – ‘Work That’

mjb21 New Song: Mary J. Blige Work That With the release of Mary J. Blige’s album ‘Growing Pains’ drawing nearer, new material from the anticipated LP has surfaced. ‘Work That’ sees Blige proclaim a self-appreciation message. Though I’m feeling the song’s overall positivity, it sounds like an album-only track. I’m hoping the album has better material than this. ‘Growing Pains’ hits stores December 18th.

Hit or Miss?

Toni Braxton Update

toni2 Toni Braxton Update Following her departure from Blackground Records earlier this year, R&B star Toni Braxton has been hard at work on her sixth studio album. Though currently untitled, the album is set for release early 2008. Most interestingly, the LP is slated to drop via J Records – reportedly Braxton’s new label. If true, it’ll be a homecoming of sorts for the ‘Unbreak My Heart’ singer, whose most successful years were when signed to Arista (now J Records). Bryan Michael Cox, Johnta Austin and Monica have all been tapped to work on the project. {Source}
Having really enjoyed Toni’s last album ‘Libra’, it’s great news to hear that she’s making new music. The ‘label did me wrong’ excuse is cited so often with artists these days, yet when you have a stellar album such as ‘Libra’ flopping, something had to be up. Here’s hoping she is successful with this new project.

Will you be checking for a Toni comeback?

Rihanna Covers Teen Vogue

rihannateenvogue Rihanna Covers Teen VogueOk, this becoming overkill now. Rihanna is featured on yet another magazine cover – this time the November issue of Teen Vogue. Yes, she looks good, but she needs to disappear for a while. With four months gone since the release of ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ and the monster hit that was ‘Umbrella’, the album has sold 722,440 copies – I doubt she’s gonna be able to squeeze much more out of it.

What do you think of the cover?

That Grape Juice T.V Mention

Thanks very much Jay for passing this one along; I didn’t have any idea about it. It’s great to be getting some mainstream exposure. As I said before, we have some major features in the pipeline so keep it locked on That Grape Juice.
