Chris Brown Performs Michael Jackson Tribute

R&B youngster Chris Brown took the stage last night in Los Angeles during his sold-out ‘Fan Appreciation Tour’ and performed a tribute to the King of Pop Michael Jackson. Still think that Omarion did the moon-walk correctly in his ‘Get It In’ video? Show them how it’s done Chris!

Chris Brown Performs ‘Crawl’

R&B star Chris Brown kicked off his ‘Fan Appreciation Tour’ in a sold-out venue at the House of Blues in Houston, Texas on Saturday. Included in the set list was the very first live performance of the 2nd single from his upcoming album, ‘Graffiti’. The song, entitled ‘Crawl’, has already managed to debut at #99 on the Hip-Hop R&B charts after only 3 days of official release. The video for the track can be seen here.

Great performance. It looks like Rihanna isn’t the only one who has been taking vocal classes recently. I applaud him for singing this live given the high energy, dance-infused nature of his show. Keep it up Chris.

New Video: Chris Brown – ‘Crawl’

Controversial entertainer Chris Brown has just debuted his the video for his new single ‘Crawl’ on ‘The Wendy Williams Show’. The clip was directed by Joseph Khan and features a cameo by popular model, Cassie. Additionally, Brown answered questions during an intriguing interview with Wendy (”how you doinnn?”) and offered yet another apology for his actions against Rihanna. His new LP, ‘Graffiti’, hits stores on December 8th.

Nice video but nothing amazing. Actually, I felt like I was watching a collection of Michael Jackson’s best dance moves sans the ‘moon walk’. Regardless, the clip portrayed the story of the lyrics effectively enough to guarantee a hit. Cassie (who was featured with her clothes on) looked beautiful as always. I sense she should maintain her career as a video/fashion model because it seems to be her true ‘calling’ (we all know singing definitely isn’t).

Tidbit: Was anyone else excited to see if Chris and Wendy would get into a blowout given their recent quarrels? I can only dream I guess…

Video: Chris Brown 106 & Park Interview

Chris Brown continues his comeback campaign, yesterday sitting down with BET’s Rocsi for a warts-and-all interview on 106 & Park. Largely centered on the Rihanna incident as well as her 20/20 interview, I definitely see this as one of Chris’ better damage-control interviews, though I am somewhat sceptical about the number of interviews he’s doing about the situation. Though she takes a lot stick, one has to give it up for Rocsi as her questions were particularly on-point.

‘Graffiti‘ hits stores December 8th.

New Song: Chris Brown – ‘Sing Like Me’

SING LIKE ME

R&B star Chris Brown premiered a new song from his forthcoming ‘Graffiti’ LP called ‘Shine Like Me’ on his blog Mechanical Dummy. While little is known about the track in the way of who produced it and whatnot, what can be ascertained is that this the business! A laid-back, breezy mid-tempo which with a killer hook. Great track.

‘Graffiti’ hits stores December 8th.

Video: Fans Shout Abuse At Chris Brown

R&B star Chris Brown swung by sneaker store Foot Action in Manhattan last night. While the majority were ecstatic at seeing the 20 year old singer, two young ladies were very vocal about their negative feelings toward him, shouting “f*cking beater” and “I hope someone beats the f*cking crap out of you!!!”

Damn. Though Chris didn’t flinch, there’s no doubt he heard their abuse (which without condoning his actions, I feel only made them look like the aggressive ones). Can’t we all just move on now…?

Chris Brown’s ‘Graffiti’ Deluxe Edition Cover And Tracklisting

breezy Chris Browns Graffiti Deluxe Edition Cover And Tracklisting

R&B star Chris Brown has released the cover art (as seen above) for the 2-disc Deluxe Edition of his highly anticipated 3rd studio album, ‘Graffiti’. The first single from the project, ‘I Can Transform Ya’ (featuring the pervasive Lil Wayne), has thus far peaked at #24 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #16 on the Hip-Hop/R&B charts. The album is slated for released on December 8th, which also happens to be the scheduled release date of Usher’s new album, tentatively entitled ‘Raymond vs. Raymond’. Below is the official track listing of ‘Graffiti’:

1. I Can Transform Ya featuring Lil Wayne & Swizz Beatz

2. Sing Like Me

3. Crawl

4. So Cold

5. What I Do featuring Plies

6. Famous Girl

7. Take My Time featuring Tank

8. I.Y.A.

9. Pass Out featuring Eva Simons

10. Wait Featuring Trey Songz & Game

11. Lucky Me

12. Fallin Down

13. I’ll Go

The artwork is basically the same with very little dissimilarity from the original other than the gold  tint. It baffles me that most people dislike the cover. Is the fact that he is wearing spandex more important than the concept of the design?

Regarding the track listing, I must admit that I am excited to hear all of the material. If ‘I Can Transform Ya’ and ‘Crawl’ are any indication of what the album will sound like, then I sense this is going to be his most musically, lyrically and vocally sound production to date. My only concern is that he is going to be singing a song – ‘Take My Time’ - with Tank. No offense to Chris but I bet it was difficult for Tank to retrain his vocals in an effort not to out-sing Breezy on his own track. Either way, I expect great things from this album.

Tidbit: Is it just me or has everyone forgotten that Usher is even releasing a record this year?

Watch: Chris Brown’s MTV Interview

Watching now…

Update: Chris Brown has just issued a press release on Rihanna’s big 20/20 interview – which is scheduled to air tonight:

“While I respect Rihanna’s right to discuss the specific events of February 8, I maintain my position that all of the details should remain a private matter between us,” he said in the statement. “I do appreciate her support and wish her the best. I am extremely sorry for what I did, and I accept accountability for my actions. At this point, I am taking the proper steps to learn about me and grow from my mistakes. I only hope that others in similar situations can learn from our experience as well. Abuse of any kind is always wrong. The rest I leave it to God.”

Chris Brown Pushes Album Up!

graffiti promo Chris Brown Pushes Album Up!

Chris Brown’s label Jive today announced that the R&B sensation’s forthcoming effort ‘Graffiti’ will now be released a week earlier. Therefore, instead of arriving in stores December 15th, the set will now be available December 8th.

Instead of competing with the likes of Alicia Keys and Lil’ Wayne, the 20 year old will now apparently go head to head with Usher, whose new LP ‘Raymond vs. Raymond’ is said to be hitting stores…you guessed it…December 8th. Should be real interesting!

Chris Brown Shines At Comeback Show

cb comeback

Controversial star Chris Brown made his stage comeback, his first since the ‘incident’ 8 months ago, at Power 105.1’s Powerhouse 09 concert in New Jersey. Peep Chris’ performances of brand new single ‘I Can Transform Ya’, as well as ‘Take You Down’ below (apologies about the crappy video quality):

Say what you wish about him, but the boy sure knows how to put on a show! After watching these, as well as the positive reception Chris’ new material has been receiving, it appears he has been given another lifeline. It’ll be interesting to see the first week sales of his 3rd studio album ‘Graffiti’ (due December 15th) – which more or less will be arriving in the allocated release window it was given pre-ChRihanna-gate. Anyway…

What do you think of the performances?

New Video: Chris Brown – ‘I Can Transform Ya (ft. Lil Wayne)’

Literally moments ago, Chris Brown’s video for ‘I Can Transform Ya’ debuted on MTV Jams. The video features rent-a-rapper Lil Wayne and has notable cameos from producer Swizz Beatz, who produced the hit track, and Tyrese. The single has so far peaked at #27 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #16 on the Hip-Hop/R&B chart.

All I can say is “GET IT’! This is without a doubt one of the most visually exciting productions of the year, employing almost as much special effects as the ‘Transformers’ movie itself! As one of the people who were still somewhat on the fence about this song, the video has definitely won me over. The graphics were c-ra-zy and were placed perfectly to match the flow of the lyrics without ever appearing random or overdone.

The choreography was insane as well and with all the ‘tutting’ and ‘popping’ that was going on, I felt like I was watching an episode of ‘America’s Best Dance Crew‘ (minus Lil Mama, who somehow managed not to storm the set of the video). All I sense was missing was a dance break where Chris could just go OFF and move like only he can. Either way, this video is fantastic!

Are your eyes spinning like mine
