Chris Brown has joined the cast of the hit show ‘Blackish.’
Just as Spring arrived the week sprung on music lovers some of the season’s highest anticipated releases from the likes of serial hitmakers Kendrick Lamar, Zayn, Iggy Azalea, and David Guetta (featuring Nicki Minaj & Lil Wayne). Then, as if the overflow of back to back drops from the aforementioned weren’t enough, Chris Brown unleashed his new tune, ‘Privacy’ (believed to be the first single from his forthcoming opus ‘Heartbreak on a Full Moon’).
Critically, most of the new songs are getting thumbs up from listeners – a review we at TGJ HQ share. Commercially, on the other hand, Lamar’s new tune – ‘Heart IV’ – is the only one of the wave of new releases to crack the top 10 on the iTunes sales charts [where it sits at #1 as of time reported] while Azalea’s, ‘Mo Bounce,’ has bounced to #1 on Youtube’s streaming charts.
As we wait to see how well all the competition fares toward their Hot 100 placements on the refreshed Billboard Hot 100 in two weeks, we turn to you – That Grape Juice faithful – to ask:
Who gets your pick for best release of the week?
Chris Brown is back!
Aiming to shake off recent controversies, the R&B crooner releases new single ‘Privacy.’
A club jam which finds the singer in familiar territory, it’s the latest taste of Brown’s seventh studio album – which has a working title of ‘Heartbreak On A Full Moon.’

Tyson Beckford is reigniting his feud with Chris Brown.
During a visit to Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live last night, the supermodel took a fresh swipe at the singer.
See, as some folk will recall, the pair previously butt heads in 2015 over a social media exchange between Beckford and Brown’s ex Karrueche Tran.
Not concealing his present-dat disdain for the singer, Beckford replied to a fan question about Brown by claiming he is on drugs.

Chris Brown is dusting off a recent exposé and pressing on with new music.
The R&B bad boy has embarked on a somewhat start-stop roll-out of his 8th album.
Initially christened ‘Heartbreak On A Full Moon,’ there’s talk that the follow-up to 2015’s ‘Royalty’ may be called something different. Especially after C. Breezy’s latest announcement.
Chris Brown’s ‘With You’ Re-Ascends To Hot 100 Peak
Readers of That Grape Juice know what avid music lovers we are – especially of hits past.
So, just as our retrospective features ‘From the Vault’ and ‘TGJ Replay’ allow us the chance to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday of one artist, our newest feature “Chart Rewind” – a variation of our current Retro Rewind assay – accedes salutes to an entire era of music history.
This week we’ll rewind to ‘With You’ – the third single from Chris Brown‘s sophomore album, ‘Exclusive.’ Produced by Stargate and written by Brown, Johnta Austin, and more, the folk-pop number was almost an instant hit for the young singer, flying to #2 just weeks after its unveiling. Initially blocked from the top spot by Flo Rida‘s hit ‘Low,’ ‘With You’ fell down charts only to have a resurgence after some promotional efforts by Brown. Still, despite some impressive live showings of the tune, it only made it back to #2 this week (held at bay this time by Usher‘s ‘Love in the Club’).
That elusive Hot 100 perch didn’t hurt in the long run, however, as the song went on to garner 2x platinum status and be one of the year’s biggest releases. Tuck in below to relive it and see who joined the R&B bad boy in the top 25 this week 9 years ago:
If folk thought Chris Brown‘s woes were limited to semi-frequent bad press, they’re grossly mistaken.
Billboard have gone to press with a scathing exposé of the R&B bad boy, one that de-trivializes his antics and paints a picture that it altogether darker and more worrying that anyone could have thought.

R&B bad boy Chris Brown may be dodging allegations that he was physically abusive to ex-girlfriend Karrueche Tran, but what he won’t be dodging are swings from Soulja Boy in a highly publicized, now cancelled boxing match.
The duel, originally set for Dubai, is now off the table according to Brown via a recent video uploaded to Instagram.
“I bowed out of this Soulja Boy fight. I’mma tell you why, ’cause it was a legit thing on a positive scale. All the wrong people got in the way. It’s immature, first and foremost…”
The confirmation came just hours after ‘Crank That’ rapper Soulja Boy cranked out a series of tweets indicating Brown’s manager had already alerted him of the ‘Run It’ singer’s intent to bail.
See what else Breezy had to say in the video below:
This week saw Chris Brown back out of his boxing match with Soulja Boy; but according to ex Karrueche Tran he’s been practising on her long before. Allegedly.
