Watch: Drake Talks ‘Saturday Night Live’ & Denounces Drugs On ‘Jimmy Fallon’

Before he rocks ‘Saturday Night Live’ with what’s set to be a fun-filled appearance, Drake hit ‘Late Night With Jimmy Fallon’ for what can only be described as Beer-fuelled fun & games.

For, in showcasing the lighthearted nature that’s made him one of Rap’s more likeable characters, the performer engaged in a game of Beer Hockey and explained why an experience with weed in his teens brought on a paranoia he believed almost ruined his life.

Did You Know: No African American Artist Had A #1 Hit in 2013? [Weigh In]

Screen shot 2014-01-12 at 1.45.49 AM

With digital downloads and online streams becoming two of the more dominant ingredients in the recipe of most of Billboard Hot 100 hits today, critics started to argue that topping the chart had become easier than ever to achieve.  But, despite the likes of Jay Z, Drake, and Beyonce making headlines in 2013 for moving some of the year’s most impressive numbers on Billboard 200, they have another commonality – no Hot 100 #1 singles.

In fact, they join a bevy of African American hitmakers (i.e. Alicia Keys, Kanye West, J. Cole) who delivered chart-topping albums in late 2012 or 2013 without the aid of a similarly successful single.

Even this generation’s Hot 100 queen Rihanna, whose #1 single ‘Diamonds’ was dethroned two weeks before 2013’s beginning, did not see her name stamped atop the tally [as a leading act] for a song she released this year…

Producer Noah “40” Shebib Halts Drake’s Plans For Posthumous Aaliyah Album

‘Started From the Bottom’ beau Drake started a polarizing war of fans last year when he revealed plans of creating a posthumous album filled with some of the late R&B singer Aaliyah‘s unreleased tracks.

Earning a collective thumbs down from those closest to the fallen star (see: Timbaland, Missy Elliott, Ginuwine, her family), the Torontoian rapper was still set to forge ahead with the project as Aaliyah’s label (run by uncle Barry Hankerson) did offer their approval.

Continued negative public reaction to the album – as recent as last month – had the album’s primary producer Noah “40” Shebib on the fence so much so that he, according to a recent interview with VIBE magazine, has called for Drake to halt the project…indefinitely.

“I was seven songs deep.  [Aaliyah’s] mother saying, “I don’t want this out’ was enough for me. I walked away very quickly.” – Noah Shebib

Drake Covers VIBE / Talks Kanye West, Wanting To Be A Dad, & More

As many of Drake rivals would even confirm, the Canadian native is easily one of Hip-Hop’s most successful talents.

Naturally, such status brings with it ample praise and critique in equal measure. The latter, especially, has been levelled against the MC in recent years due to his supposed “emotional” nature. A start contrast to the hyper-masculinity that stills dominates the Rap arena.

Keen to address the matter, the ‘Hold On, We’re Going Home’ rapper readily offered his response to the internet jibes thrown his way in the latest issue of VIBE magazine, which he also covers.

The 27-year-old also waxed honest on his friendly rivalry with Kanye West, his goals, desire to be a dad and more.

Peep excerpts from VIBE interview with the articulate star after the jump…
