Vote: The Best of Music Biopics

Usher, Justin Timberlake, Nina Simone, and Marvin Gaye are just some of the many known names in music who will see themselves involved to some capacity in a biopic this year.

Indeed, the coveted biopic role has launched many-an-act to stardom in its tenure by bringing to light the real personal lives of celebrated public figures.

Most recently, VH1 has taken the reins in preparation of a TLC biopic and continues to tease fans with snaps from the set of the highly anticipated film (like the one seen here). However, today the American Idol alum has much to smile about following the impressive debut of her fourth studio album ‘Side Effects Of You’.

The ‘Lose To Win’ led set has been propped by a number of high-profile promotional stops, including Idol, Good Morning America, and The View; stops that have helped the LP make a strong debut on this week’s Billboard 200.

Fantasia Eyes Winning First Week Numbers With ‘Side Effects Of You’

Hits Daily Double have very good news for ‘Without Me’ songbird Fantasia.

For, by way of their daily sales update, they have revealed that the singer’s new album ‘Side Effects Of You’ is well on its way to meeting commercial predictions set last week…selling enough units each day to possibly surpass these predictions.

Fantasia is on fire!

The powerhouse’s new album ‘Side Effects Of You’ is on-course to become one of the best-selling R&B first-week performers of the year, while its lead single ‘Lose To Win’ continues its ascend on Urban. So as to give the latter an added push, the American Idol stopped by The View to perform the Harmony number and sit down for a chat with the show’s anchors.

‘Hood Boy’ hitmaker Fantasia was feeling a little “hood” herself last night aboard Bravo TV’s ‘Watch What Happens…with Andy Cohen’ when she broke out into ‘Twerkin By The Cakes’ – an improvisational tune set to the viral video of the young lady who twerks in various public places.

In hot promo for her new cd ‘Side Effects of You’, the singer sat alongside ‘Pain & Gain’ star Anthony Mackie while jazzing it up like only she can.

If industry sales estimates are anything to go by, Fantasia is on-course to score one of the biggest all-out R&B debuts in almost a year with new album ‘Side Effects Of You’.

However, the American Idol alum is not one to rest on her laurels. She stopped by ABC’s Good Morning America to perform the LP’s lead single ‘Lose To Win’.

Now, Fantasia joins the elite group of artists from the genre who can still boast of a potent pull when it comes to selling albums.

Much like our ‘Retro Rewind’ and ‘From the Vault’ segments, readers of That Grape Juice know what avid music lovers we are – especially of hits past. So in a quest to re-spin the gems and jams of yesterday we introduced a new retrospective segment – ‘TGJ Replay’.

Unlike its ‘Rewind’ and ‘Vault’ predecessors, ‘Replay’ looks to dust off and showcase albums (and eras) from a library of pop music hits.
