Despite tanking with their last two singles ‘Over You’ and ‘Maniac’, Girlicious are proving to be quite the little troopers. Indeed, the trio have lined up yet another single in the form of ’2 In The Morning’, the latest to be lifted from theirs serially delayed ‘Rebuilt’ LP.

Things appear to be going from bad to worse for struggling trio ‘Girlicious’. Ousting members, drug scandal, and poor chart performance, have come to characterise what was once-billed as the new Pussycat Dolls (not that that was ever saying much).
With their most recent effort ‘Maniac’ flopping on an epic scale (even tanking in their biggest market – Canada), the ladies will no doubt be hoping that new single ‘Drank’ sparks interest.

Things appear to be going from bad to worse for Pop group Girlicious. Never quite fulfilling their potential due to line-up changes and label drama, the trio today face new a dilemma, as prominent member Natalie Mejia was arrested after police found her with 12 bags of cocaine (yes, you read right….12!). The singer is currently being held on $30,000 bail. Check out the fine-details below, courtesy of the Glendale News Press:
Mejia and Peter Asencio, 28, of Burbank were taken into custody after a police noticed a 1998 Ford Mustang driving at a high rate of speed, Glendale Police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.
The officer stopped the car at Victory Boulevard and Winchester Avenue, just before it went onto the Ventura (134) Freeway, he said.
Mejia, who was a passenger in the car, was apparently heading to an airport for a concert in Canada, Lorenz said.
Police searched the Mustang after discovering Asencio’s driver’s license was suspended, Lorenz said.
During the search, police allegedly found multiple individual baggies of cocaine in Mejia’s Gucci purse.
It’s kinda sad that upon reading the headline, I already knew it’d be Natalie. Shameful. Any way, I guess this will be the last we’ll be hearing from Girlicious…
As reported, Beyonce is currently in Japan promoting a range of projects, most especially her new single ‘If I Were A Boy’. The 27 year old stopped by the country’s Music Station show today to perform the track. As ever, she nailed it! That said, I’m sure we’ll get more of a stage show with the ‘Single Ladies’ performances. All in all, a great showing.
Randomness: I see her killer band from her ‘B’Day’ era are back, which is a good look.
What do you think of the performance?
Some of you may be wondering just where Girlicious have been since the initial impact of their debut ‘Like Me’? Well, their album has yet to be released anywhere other than in Canada where they have been a surprise success. Their latest release over there is ‘Baby Doll’, which I must say isn’t bad. Microwavable, throw-away Pop/R&B at it’s best. The video, even with its ‘limited’ budget, still manages to be mildly engaging too.
Randomness: Isn’t it ironic that these girls were discovered on ‘The Pussycat Dolls Present Girlicious’, yet their singles thus far have trumped everything but ‘When I Grow Up’ from PCD?
What do you think of the video?
Hmm…ok, I guess. They are evidently still very ‘green’, which is understandable. I’m thinking those Danity Kane comparisons can be put to rest for the time being now though.
Random tidbit: I’m a bit puzzled as to how little promotion they’ve done thus far considering their self-titled debut is due in stores early July. I wonder if it’ll be pushed back?

Since Beyonce and Jay-Z’s much-publicized wedding back in early April, there has been mounting speculation that the ‘Crazy In Love’ singer is expecting the couple’s first child. HollyScoop are now reporting that the pregnancy has been confirmed. Check out the report: Hollyscoop has learned exclusively through multiple sources that Beyonce is expecting. A source close to the couple revealed, “Beyonce is 100% pregnant, which is why the couple rushed their wedding.” The source also told Hollyscoop that all the friends and family that attended the ultra private wedding were all aware that Beyonce was already expecting.
Our source added that Beyonce is in her early stages, but don’t expect this star to come out with a confirmation statement anytime soon. The couple is pretty private about their personal lives–they still haven’t even confirmed their wedding. But the source confirmed that she is expecting and they rushed the wedding due to Beyonce’s strong Christian beliefs.
The video for The-Dream’s new single ‘I Luv Your Girl’, which features rapper Young Jeezy, made it’s debut on BET’s 106 & Park yesterday. Both the song and the accompanying clip are kinda ‘blah’ if I must say so myself. I’m still waiting on him to release ‘She Needs My Love’; I’ve had that on constant rotation since his album ‘Love/Hate’ dropped back in December.

Amateur(ish), yet pretty decent. They have a long way to go. For those not in the know, Girlicious are the creation of Robin Antin, the brainchild behind the Pussycat Dolls. The aim when forming the band, as seen on the show, was to produce a more ‘Urban’ PCD-esque group.

Good. We all have to be held accountable for our actions. With the vast amount of wealth he has amassed over the years, tax evasion seems like the stupidest crime he could have committed.

Wow. For a new group they are pretty good, real polished. Though the song is hardly groundbreaking, it’s processed, ‘fast-food’ music at its best. The striking similarities between Girlicious and the Pussycat Dolls can be attributed to the fact they were both founded/managed by Robin Antin – the brainchild behind PCD’s success. IMO these girls possess more potential for the simple fact that a) there isn’t 10+ of them whose names are a mystery and b) *all* of the members actually sing. With Danity Kane running things at the moment, Pussycat Dolls due out very soon and now Girlicious, the girl-group scene is heating up this year.
