With all the controversy surrounding the title of Nas’ forthcoming album (which is still untitled – due July 15th), one could easily be forgiven for forgetting about the actual music. The set’s first official single ‘Hero’ surfaced recently and it’s banger! Produced by Polow Da Don and featuring Keri Hilson, the cut manages to not stray from Nas’ stance in rap, whilst also being commercial enough to service to the masses. I’m really feeling this one. Our friends over at Real Talk NY caught up with R&B star Ciara at one of the stops on her 5 city 22nd birthday tour. The singer spoke on recording the follow-up to her Platinum-selling LP ‘Ciara: The Evolution’ as well as her futures goals and ambitions.

It’s a pretty interesting interview and she comes across really well. Considering I felt ‘The Evolution’ could have been much better than it was, I’m hoping she comes hard with her next project; I really see her as one of the few artists out now who has the potential to be great.

As Jennifer Lopez preps the release of her new album ‘Brave’, new promotional shots for the CD have surfaced. Jenny’s looking on-point! I do find it odd that with pics this good they managed to pick such a terrble front cover. ‘Brave’ drops October 9th.

Continuing her promo trip through the UK, Amerie performed her latest single ‘Gotta Work’ on daytime show GMTV. Though better than the ‘T4 On the Beach’ performance from a few days back, something was still not there in the performance. Still it’s good to see the severely underrated Amerie get her props over here – the song is slated to debut in the top 10 when released next week. Interestingly, the single will go head to head with Beyonce’s ‘Green Light’ which also sees it’s official release next week. {Thanks Adrian}

‘The Beyonce Experience’ tour recently hit the Bank Atlantic Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (July 22nd). Check out this performance of fan-favourite ‘Get Me Bodied’; this version favours the BET Awards performance – with the Beyonce re-enacting her ’spacesuit entrance’ this time dressed as a Bee lol. She did great. Having attended the London show in June (click here to check my review), I would definitely recommend the tour to those who still have a chance to go.

It appears Eve isn’t wasting any time releasing singles from her upcoming album ‘Here I Am’ (due August 7th). As her current single ‘Tambourine’ climbs the charts, the rapper has already shot the video for the follow-up single ‘Give It To You’ – which features Sean Paul. Judging from these pics from the set, the video looks like its gonna be a good one. Be on the lookout for the video in the coming weeks.

R&B star Ciara recently shot the video for ‘Can’t Leave ‘Em Alone’ – the third single from her current album ‘Ciara: The Evolution’. The Darkchild produced track features 50 Cent and the video is expected to premiere in the coming weeks. Check out the pics from the set:

Though ‘Can’t Leave ‘Em Alone’ is a good track, I would have preferred she release the previously-confirmed 3rd single ‘So Hard’ instead. I can see why the label went with ‘Can’t Leave ‘Em Alone’ though; the song has laid-back summer vibe to it and releasing it during this period would be logical.
