Roc Nation Signs Major Deal With Universal Music / Becomes Standalone Label

Jay-Z continues to make mega-moves with his Roc Nation empire.

Fresh from hitting headlines that the full-service entertainment force is venturing into the Sports world, it has today been announced that the company has teamed up with Universal Music to house the official Roc Nation record label.

Beyond literally being a big deal, some may be wondering why this is this such a “big deal”. Well, while the Roc manages and A&R’s the likes of Rihanna, Rita Ora, Timbaland, and Kylie Minogue, they -until now-have not operated as an actual record label. Indeed, each of the aforementioned acts sit under different (and in some cases, rival) corporate umbrellas.

With this latest development, Roc Nation truly becomes its own 360 entity. Put simply, it’s now its own Def Jam, RCA, Columbia, and presents exciting new prospects for music moving forward.

Hot Shots: Beyonce & Jay-Z Celebrate 5th Wedding Anniversary In Cuba

Having blazed the scene with new Pepsi commerciall today, Beyonce soaked up the sun in Cuba this afternoon with Hip-Hop hubby Jay-Z.

Accompanied by bodyguards, Jigga’s mother Gloria and Bey’s mother Tina, the iconic couple – who celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary today – were snapped absorbing the scenes in Havana.

Naturally, mass fanfare ensued. However, the pair kept their cool, greeting well-wishers on their way.

The break will no doubt be a brief one though, as next week sees the start of King B’s hotly anticipated Mrs Carter Show World Tour in Serbia, while Jay continues work on his next studio album and gears up his stadium trek with Justin Timberlake.

Watch: Usher, Monica & Jay-Z Perform At ‘So So Def 20th Anniversary’ Bash / Mariah Carey Makes Appearance

When we interviewed Jermaine Dupri earlier this month, the hitmaker stressed that he’d be pulling out all the stops for the 20th anniversary of his So So Def imprint. And, oh was the he not lying.

Last night’s show at the Fox Theater in Atlanta saw the likes of Usher, Monica, Jay-Z, Ludacris perform, while Mariah Carey made a surprise appearance at the sell-out gig.

It’s Official: Justin Timberlake & Jay Z Announce ‘Legends Of The Summer Tour’

After ample speculation, it has today been confirmed that Justin Timberlake and Jay Z will hit the road together for the ‘Legends Of The Summer Tour’.

Billed as a must-see extravaganza, the jaunt will follow the release of Timberlake’s new album ‘The 20/20 Experience’ which hits stores on March 19th. The pair collaborated on the project’s lead single ‘Suit & Tie’.

Hot Shots: Beyonce And Alicia Keys Hit NBA- All Star Game Following ‘Life Is But A Dream’ Airing

Beyonce and Jay Z were all smiles as they enjoyed the NBA All-Star Game in her hometown of Houston, Texas- perhaps buzzing from the critical acclaim afforded her HBO ‘Life Is But A Dream‘ documentary.

However, as you would have spotted above, Jay wasn’t the only A-lister to join Bey at the game- with ‘Feeling You/Feeling Me‘ belle Alicia Keys arriving with her son Egypt.
