Burgeoning star Lady Gaga kept her momentum going last night by stopping by The Tonight Show With Jay Leno to perform her #1 single ‘Just Dance’. As with most of her live showings, she did great. It seems as if she’s switched things up with her performance of the track on this promotional push (band, less choreography, live-er vocals etc); still, just adds a different feel to what is an awesome and very deserving track.

Some of you may remember our trailer post on 50 Cent’s latest movie ‘Righteous Kill’, which he stars in alongside acting heavy-weights Robert DiNero and Al Pacino. However, with the movie’s release drawing nearer, its makers have begun to distance themselves from the G-Unit general, with Hollywood insiders stating it being due to 50 no longer appealing to the ‘Urban audience’. Peep the report below:Fans may have noticed that 50 has been missing from the promotional ads for his new movie “Righteous Kill” starring Al Pacino and Robert Deniro.
According to a report found on Woooha.com, 50’s absence is due to the filmmaker’s concerns that he is no longer appealing to the “urban market.”
“The real reason the studio cut Curtis out of the campaign is because their research and exit poll information showed that 50 actually was not the urban or young demographic box office draw they were hoping for,” read the report.
“50 basically can’t draw in the core demographic that used to buy his albums by the millions. The box office let down of ‘Get Rich Or Die Trying’ should have been a hint of things to come.”
“It’s no secret in the music world that 50 Cent has lost some mainstream appeal, but in the film world you don’t necessarily need multi-platinum albums to have a successful film career (Common, Mos Def, etc.) you just need to appeal to the urban demo. 50 clearly is losing that appeal.” {Source}
Hardly surprising. Although, I must say, it’s been a pretty rapid fall from grace for 50 – from loosing to Kanye, to G-Unit’s latest LP flopping to this.

As previously reported, female music heavy-weights, including Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna and Mariah Carey, came together to record ‘Just Stand Up’, in aid of the ‘Stand Up To Cancer’ campaign. The track itself, which I must say is pretty good, made its debut today on various US radio stations. You can listen to it below, as well as peep the full list of featured artists:Hit or Miss?

After a near 4 year absence from the music scene, R&B star Usher is back with his much anticipated new album ‘Here I Stand’ – which hits stores worldwide today.
The massive success of the set’s first single ‘Love In This Club’ shows that there is evidently a thirst for the 29 year old Grammy winner’s latest material. That Grape Juice wants to know, though, whether you will be picking up ‘Here I Stand’? If so, why? If not, why? Heard the album already (lol lol)? What do yo think of it? What are your favourites etc? Feel free to drop your views in the ‘comments’ section…

Black Eyed Peas front man will.I.am performed Michael Jackson’s classic ‘Wanna Be Starting Something’ on a show over here in Europe this past week. I can’t deny I enjoyed the performance – even if parts of it were terrible. A tidbit: is it me or did Will’s album disappear as soon as it came out?

ESSENCE: How do you feel about constantly being compared to Mary J. Blige?
COLE: I feel like we are very similar based on everything we’ve been through in our personal lives. It’s helped make us sing the way we sing. Because she didn’t have a vocal coach, and neither did I. And when I met her I told her, “You winning all those Grammy’s—congratulations—it gives me inspiration to this day that maybe I can do the same thing.” You know, it’s just a real big life circle. I think there are a lot of things that she could tell me that’d help me. I’m not trying to take nobody’s place or nothing like that. But I’m just saying, as a woman—as a young Black woman—if she knows some of the answers, Give ’em to me!” (Laughing.) But she said that I could call her anytime. I just haven’t done it yet.

Keyshia Cole performed her smash hit ‘Let It Go’ on Yahoo’s Pepsi Smash recently. She has really stepped it up with the live performances as of late and I thought she did pretty good here – although the choreography was kinda ‘amerteurish’. Still, it’s her voice that she’s loved for, so it’s all good.
In other Keyshia news, ‘Let It Go’ is currently the #1 most played track on US radio. The video for the track also occupies the top spot on BET’s 106 & Park.

The much anticipated debut solo single from Pussycat Dolls front-woman, Nicole Scherzinger, has finally surfaced. Produced by Polow Da Don, the uptempo club track sees the ‘Don’t Cha’ singer team up with rapper T.I. Though the song is good – especially the production – I’m not sure that it lived up to the hype. Perhaps it’s due to the song having the exact same beat as one of Chili’s (of TLC) new tracks ‘Straight Jack’ (the irony). Be on the lookout for the video in the weeks ahead. ‘Shut Up & Drive’ is apparently the second single from Rihanna’s ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ album. I am not feeling this one at all; I can see what they were trying to do with the Rock/Pop/R&B fusion, but her voice doesn’t do it any justice. If this is an indicator of the rest of her album, I will be passing on it.Filed Under: Janet Jackson, Jermaine Dupri
