“Whoa lover” were lyrics fixed on the lips of many this summer. Indeed, escaping Kelly Rowland‘s run-away hit ‘Motivation’ during its impressive run would have been quite the feat.
Much of song’s success is attributable to its heavy radio rotation. Rotation which has seen Rowland spin her way to the top of the Urban radio year end tally.

In embracing the the festive spirit, our From The Vault pick this week is Destiny’s Child‘s ’8 Days Of Christmas’.
Released as the first single of their holiday album of the same name, the cut – which was released in Winter 2001) is a fan favourite and a R&B classic.
The track amazingly blends traditional hooks (the core of the song is an interpolation of the carol ‘Twelve Days Of Christmas’) and modern Urban beats. It also doesn’t hurt that their world-renown 3-part harmonies are on full display – showcased at its most stellar with the choir-like breakdown.
The accompanying video sees the three diva’s dressed in sexy Santa outfits, parading around a Christmas-themed toy store, complete with a carousel and all. All very standard-festive-fare. Yet, we love it all the same.

Def Jam‘s newest signee Luke James has been been drumming up quite the buzz as of late.
The singer-songwriter, who counts Beyonce as a big fan, visited That Grape Juice’s The Splash recently to perform a rousing set. Included in his session was a stellar take on a track titled ‘All of the Night’ by a certain Kelly Rowand – who too is a huge supporter of his.

Kelly Rowland digs into her inner disco diva in these shots from Hunger Magazine. The ‘Motivation’ hitmaker, who is diligently at work on her 4th studio album (due 2012), reteams with the famed Rankin (who also lists directing Rowland’s ‘Rose Colored Glasses’ video to credit) for the interesting shoot. The collection marks the second time an American singer was found featured in the fashion mag – Kelis being the first.
