Believe it or not, there were still financial repercussions lingering for Janet Jackson’s now infamous ‘Nipplegate’ moment at the Superbowl four years ago. However, it has been announced that the last of the barrage if fines leveled against the networked which aired it, CBS, has been dropped:

PHILADELPHIA – A federal appeals court has thrown out a $550,000 fine against CBS Corp. for the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show that ended with Janet Jackson’s breast-baring “wardrobe malfunction.”
The three-judge panel in Philadelphia ruled Monday that the Federal Communications Commission “acted arbitrarily and capriciously” in issuing the fine for the fleeting image of nudity.

The 90 million people watching the Super Bowl, many of them children, heard Justin Timberlake sing, “Gonna have you naked by the end of this song,” as he reached for Jackson’s bustier. {Source}

About time already. All parties seemed to have moved on anyway, so the fine really was pointless IMO.

According to MTV, Fergie is set to re-release her multi-Platinum smash ‘The Dutchess’. Boasting several new tracks including her collaboration with Nelly, ‘Party People’, as well as ‘Labels & Love’ – the theme of the much-anticipated ‘Sex In The City’ movie, the revamped LP will hit stores on May 27th.

That’s what everyone’s doing nowadays, I hear,” she laughed. “The label came to me and said this would be a good idea, and I thought, ‘Well, OK, if this is another way for me to put out these songs that I’ve been wanting people to hear, then great.’ The music business is changing, and this repackage thing is a new way for people to put out songs that they want people to hear, so I’m cool with it.”

Well, at least she was honest. It still baffles me as to why the label would re-issue an almost 2 year old album. Surely everyone who wanted it the first time has it already?

With the US release of Leona Lewis’ debut LP ‘Spirit’ just around the corner (due April 8th), a new track from the anticipated set has surfaced. Produced and written by Akon, ‘Forgive Me’ is a funky Pop/R&B cut that sees the UK sensation embrace a much more edgier sound, as well as subject matter. Though perhaps slightly premature, I’m hoping this is the direction Leona explores more on her sophomore LP.
