And while silence has greeted the ever-fervent question from fans, the singer’s mentor and label head LA Reid addressed the status of her ‘One Woman Army’ project on Bravo‘s What Happens Live last night.

Mariah Carey may be shooting the video for her new single ‘Triumphant’ today, yet that didn’t stop American Idol‘s newest judge from glamming it up for Russell Simmons’ 13th annual Art for Life gala in New York last night.
Accompanied by husband of four years Nick Cannon, the premium diva joined the likes of LA Reid, Babyface, and Melanie Fiona at the star-studded charity event which raised over $2 million for art programmes.

Power couple Beyonce and Jay-Z led a host of music royals in celebrating the launch of ‘The Thriving Child’ – a parenting book by Erica Reid, the wife of Epic Records head LA Reid.
The trendy event, which was also attended by Mary J. Blige, was a break of of sorts for 30 year old Beyonce. For, the megastar is in intense rehearsals for her series of comeback shows at the Revel resort in New Jersey at the end of the month. As reported, overwhelming demand has seen another date added to the hotly anticipated showcase.

In somewhat of a surprise move, Clive Davis’ Annual Pre-Grammy Gala did indeed take place last night following the untimely death of Davis’ protégé, Whitney Houston - just hours prior.
The likes of LA Reid, Ciara, Kelly Rowland, and Diana Ross, were among those in attendance at the industry celebration; one producers insisted should go on – as it’s “what Whitney would have wanted”. A nod, it seems, to the age old Hollywood adage “the show must go on”.
Granted Whitney’s body was still at the very same venue (the Beverly Hilton Hotel), I can’t say it’s a sentiment we share.

As the newly appointed head of Epic Records, LA Reid has already made a number of groundbreaking decisions pertaining to the label’s future.
Indeed, after signing ’Fantasy Rider‘ Ciara last year and X Factor alum Cher Lloyd this year,today saw confirmation of news that will have many a Pop enthusiast buzzing- to say the very least.
For, in what will serve as an added incentive for any wannabe vocalists hoping to join X Factor USA’s upcoming season, the exec has signed three of last year’s more promising acts.
