While Europe and Asia have taken her sound to impressive commercial heights, Lana Del Rey‘s US run has been modest to say the least.
Currently hovering around the 600,000 units figure- her debut major album ‘Born To Die‘ and its supporting ‘Paradise’ were the basis of her recent discussion with ‘Fashion‘ magazine- which saw her pose for a beach based spread and speak openly on her struggle to secure critical acclaim in the US.
More interestingly though, how this has affected her ongoing battle with alcoholism.

Save for ‘Off To The Races’ and a few select others, Lana Del Rey songs have always struggled on a melodic tips, serving sweet hooks but dull verses.
Fortunately for the producers of new movie ‘The Great Gatsby’, the cut she recorded for their soundtrack stands as one of the ‘select few’, perfect from start to finish.
Named ‘Young & Beautiful‘, the Rick Nowels assisted jam becomes available to purchase with the rest of the flick’s soundtrack on May 7th.

Extending her lead as Pop’s most photogenic Princess, the ‘Off To The Races’ belle strikes a number of poses for Jalou‘s ‘L’Officiel’, snapped in a shoot some fans have billed ‘classic’.

‘Off To The Races’ star Lana Del Rey teams up with Jaguar to endorse their new F-Type automobile, via the brand new video for the cut- ‘Burning Desire‘.
As far as the song goes, we’d say it wins on a melodic tip but fails to wow creatively- with Lana’s subject matter going no further than the realm of hopeless romanticism. Sure, while it makes for a good listen, one would hope her forthcoming sophomore LP sees her tackle new thematic ground.

Marking one her best covers to date, the contralto’s spread in the magazine precedes the release of her UK #1 album, ‘Born To Die‘ and its supporting EP, ‘The Paradise Edition’.

Before he’s set to dominate the 2013 Grammy Awards Ceremony next February, Frank Ocean extends his 2012 winning streak this week with another ‘Channel Orange‘ related nod.
However, whilst most-if not all- of the awards he’s picked up this year have seen him celebrated for his craft, his latest achievement sees him awarded for his- well- sex appeal.
