Pop singer Leona Lewis made a special appearance on ‘The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brian’ recently. The singer promoted her new album ‘Echo’ and performed the first single from the record, ‘Happy’. The song has thus far peaked at #50 on the Billboard Hot 100.

It’s good to see that she is still trying to promote the album because as with the projected figures, it’s going to need all the help it can help. However, with a rather boring and generic single like ‘Happy’, I can’t see the LP getting the push that it so desperately needs. Add that to her emotionally vacant performances and generally poor reviews from the critics, I sense that this album has little hope of matching the success of it’s predecessor.

According to popular chart analyst site HitsDailyDouble, UK singer Leona Lewis‘ second studio album is set bomb on next’s weeks US chart tally. The record, ‘Echo’,  is projected to sell a dismal 60, 000 units, completely missing the top spot. In stark contrast, Leona’s first LP, ‘Spirit’, debuted on the Billboard 200 with over 205, 000 units; more than triple the numbers that ‘Echo’ is expected to ship in it’s first week.

I am in no way shocked by this news. There has been almost zero public interest in the album, with the first single, ‘Happy’, failing to even get pass #50 on the Billboard Hot 100. Leona did experiment with a few new sounds with this project but with the lack of passion in her music and being frankly devoid of an actual personality, I found myself bored with almost the entire record. ‘Brave’ is the only interesting track on the entire album. I sense that it’s high time that her label stops trying to recapture the magic of ‘Bleeding Love’ and trying to create the next Mariah Carey. Rather, they should focus on allowing her to find her own voice in the industry.

Singing sensation Leona Lewis performed new single ‘Happy’ on tonight’s episode of the X-Factor – the show which rocketed her into stardom. Though she’s had better vocal outings, she shows here why she is head-and-shoulders above many of her competitors; in another league.

Leona’s album ‘Echo’ hits stores November 16th in the UK and November 17th in the US.

Last evening Leona Lewis took the stage at the Hackney Empire in London to perform material from her upcoming album. I love the drama in her eyes.

Also on the performance circuit was Lil’ Kim, who offered a different kind of show while performing at Club Zenith in Holland. Long live Kim!

Vocal powerhouse Leona Lewis performed her current single ‘Happy’ at the Rosa Balet Galan in Sweden this week. Check out how she did above.

Hmm…while Ms. Lewis is undeniably a great technical vocalist, this performance was a bit of a snoozer. Perhaps it’s the song (which IMO simply isn’t cutting it) or the fact that she has yet to develop an engaging enough aura about her other than her voice. Regardless, she’s definitely one of the premier talents to emerge in recent years; let’s just hope her forthcoming album ‘Echo’  (due November 13th) serves up better material than this.

Check out the official album cover for Leona Lewis’ sophomore effort ‘Echo’ (due November 17th).

Absolutely stunning; she truly looks model-esque. A classic cover for sure, however whether or not the music will serve as a worthy parallel remains to be seen.

While the record’s lead single ‘Happy’ isn’t rocking my world, the album’s list of hit-making contributors is. Ms. Lewis has clocked up studio time and churned out songs with the likes of Ne-Yo, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Tedder, Max Martin, Claude Kelly, Xenomania, and Toby Gad for the record. Here’s hoping they serve up the hotness.
