Leona Performs ‘Happy’ At Rosa Bandet Galan

Vocal powerhouse Leona Lewis performed her current single ‘Happy’ at the Rosa Balet Galan in Sweden this week. Check out how she did above.

Hmm…while Ms. Lewis is undeniably a great technical vocalist, this performance was a bit of a snoozer. Perhaps it’s the song (which IMO simply isn’t cutting it) or the fact that she has yet to develop an engaging enough aura about her other than her voice. Regardless, she’s definitely one of the premier talents to emerge in recent years; let’s just hope her forthcoming album ‘Echo’  (due November 13th) serves up better material than this.

Leona Lewis ‘Echo’ Cover

Check out the official album cover for Leona Lewis’ sophomore effort ‘Echo’ (due November 17th).

Absolutely stunning; she truly looks model-esque. A classic cover for sure, however whether or not the music will serve as a worthy parallel remains to be seen.

While the record’s lead single ‘Happy’ isn’t rocking my world, the album’s list of hit-making contributors is. Ms. Lewis has clocked up studio time and churned out songs with the likes of Ne-Yo, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Tedder, Max Martin, Claude Kelly, Xenomania, and Toby Gad for the record. Here’s hoping they serve up the hotness.

Leona Performs ‘Happy’ On America’s Got Talent

UK singing sensation-turned International star Leona Lewis performed new single ‘Happy’ on the finale of America’s Got Talent last night. Sans the high-notes and vocal prowess, this was a pretty unremarkable affair. Evidently opting for the ‘safe’ option with this Ryan Tedder produced track, I’d like to see a bit more versatility on Ms. Lewis’ part with her future releases and performances. That is, granted she is actually versatile…?

New Song: Leona Lewis – ‘Happy’ (New Single)

‘Happy’, the lead single from singing sensation Leona Lewis’ sophomore effort ‘Echo’ (due November), officially premiered today. Produced by Ryan Tedder, the power ballad plays to the star’s biggest asset – her undeniably remarkable voice, with Lewis turning in a stellar vocal performance. That said, I can’t say this one is exciting me much at all. I’m still hopeful the album serves up the good good, but this seems like at best ‘a grower’. Still, with the major promotional machine her success-to-date grants her, I’m sure this one will be a hit. Whether it genuinely deserves to be is definitely up for debate.
Hit or Miss?

Leona To ‘Echo’ On New LP

Leona Lewis 023 Leona To Echo On New LP

International star Leona Lewis is set to release her sophomore LP this November. Today it has been revealed that the record will be titled ‘Echo’:
Simon Cowell protégée Leona Lewis has decided on a title and release date for her new album. Echo, the follow-up to Lewis’ platinum-plus 2008 debut, Spirit, is due Nov. 17.
“An echo describes a big, organic sound,” Lewis says of her choice.
Lewis is recording in various cities, including New York and Los Angeles. Though one track called Don’t Let Me Down has
leaked online, neither the lineup of songs nor the list of contributors has been finalized. “I’m working with incredible songwriters and producers, and my music has really evolved,” Lewis says.
Ryan Tedder, who co-wrote and produced Lewis’ chart-topping breakthrough hit, Bleeding Love, is one confirmed collaborator, and a number of top artists have joined her in the studio, including Justin Timberlake, Ne-Yo and producer Timbaland. {Source}
I’m definitely a supporter of legitimate talent, so I’m very proud of Leona’s success – particularly with her UK roots. However, saying that, I wasn’t too big on her debut album, which sans ‘Bleeding Love’ and a few other select cuts was kinda ‘blah’. The roster of writers and producers on this new album look quite impressive, I just hope the material measures up too.
Are you checking for ‘Echo’?

Leona Lewis – ‘I Will Be’ Video

Leona Lewis’ latest video ‘I Will Be’ premiered today. The track will serve as the next release from her ‘Spirit: The Deluxe Edition’ LP (due for a US release February 3rd). About the video, (which stars Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford), it’s pretty decent. Though kinda unremarkable, which let’s face it most videos of today aren’t, it’s refreshing to see Leona in another guise, other than the ‘stand in one place and look pretty balladeer’.

Leona & Alexandra Perform On Top of The Pops

X Factor standout winners Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke performed on today’s Christmas episode of Top of The Pops. Peep Leona’s spine-tingling showing of ‘Run’ above, while you can view Alexandra’s performance of Christmas #1 ‘Hallelujah’ below:

Great performances! I know some will disagree, but I’m really feeling they are the new Mariah and Whitney. Very excited to see where the future takes these two.
