New Song: Chris Brown – ‘I Can Transform Ya (ft. Lil’ Wayne)

chris brown New Song: Chris Brown I Can Transform Ya (ft. Lil Wayne)

Controversial R&B star Chris Brown is looking to re-claim his place in the industry, making a comeback with ‘I Can Transform Ya’ – the lead single from his 3rd studio album ‘Graffiti’ (due November). The swagger-heavy track, which was produced by Swizz Beats, is a gritty club banger, which sees the singer ride over a busy, rock-tinged beat, along with Lil’ Wayne, who for once doesn’t sound like he was flung on there ‘for the sake of it’. Definitely feeling this one, particularly as Chris and/or his team smartly opted to stay away from any of the drama with the billy goat (and no, I am in no way condoning his actions). I can’t think of anything more contrived than a ‘I’m sorry’/public sympathy-designed track to launch his comeback. Anyway, without going off-topic, it’ll be interesting to see how well this does…

New Song: Madonna – ‘Revolver (ft. Lil’ Wayne)’

73aa1d3f27aabcced242623831d9ee8a New Song: Madonna Revolver (ft. Lil Wayne)
‘Revolver’, one of the new songs to feature on Madonna’s ‘Celebration’ greatest hits package, surfaced in its full form today. Featuring rent-a-rapper Lil’ Wayne, the song actually works more than one would assume, considering the names involved. Though nothing profound, the song is infectiously catchy, with it’s easy-on-the-ear verses and rousing sing-along-song chorus. Not bad at all.

Drama! Omarion Dropped By Label (Again) After Single Leak

o Drama! Omarion Dropped By Label (Again) After Single Leak
Things seem to be going from bad to worse for R&B singer Omarion. After severing ties with Epic Records last year (aka was dropped), the former B2K star signed with Lil’ Wayne’s Young Money / Cash Money imprint in June – only to be let go yesterday after the leak of his lead single ‘I Get It In’:
Two months after being signed to Young Money Entertainment, Omarion has been dropped from the giant recording company. Spilling the beans about the matter is the label’s president Mack Maine on his Twitter which reveals that Omarion is fired because he has allegedly leaked his duet song with Lil Wayne.
“ATTN: Omarion is no longer Young Money … the song they leaked ft. Wayne is not official .. good luck 2 him in his future,” so Mack wrote. Shortly after that, one of Young Money’s artists Jae Millz re-tweeted Mack’s short message, apparently trying to emphasize that the news is not a rumor.
Omarion was previously signed to Epic Records before he joined Young Money Entertainment in June. He is currently working on his next studio album titled “A New Me”. Now that he is out of Young Money, it seems that the singer has to seek a new home to release the effort.
Up to date, Omarion hasn’t offered any comment concerning him being axed from Young Money. {Source}
Ouch!!! To say this is embarrassing would be an understatement. What’s more, with the nature of why O was dropped, it doesn’t bode well for his chances of being snapped up swiftly by any other label anytime soon. Never ones to kick folk while they are down though, we wish Omarion the best moving ahead. For despite his voice not really being to my taste, he is immensely talented as an all-round performer.

New Song: Omarion – ‘I Get It In (ft. Lil’ Wayne)’ (1st Single)

omarion+ New Song: Omarion I Get It In (ft. Lil Wayne) (1st Single)
After a brief hiatus from the industry, Omarion is back. Having made the transition from Columbia Records to Lil’ Wayne’s Young Money imprint over at Cash Money, O is set to release ‘I Get It In’ as the lead single from his as-yet-untitled 3rd studio album. The single, which you can listen to below, features Lil’ Wayne, as expected.
About the track, I’m on the fence with this one. While it’s refreshing to see O switch it up musically and serve up a cut with some grittiness to it, the fact he is a ‘singer’ yet is talking on autotune all the way through is quite worrying. I mean this could easily have been a Lil’ Wayne track and sounded almost identical. Speaking of ol’ Weezy, these features are becoming kinda tiresome. Hell, at this rate even I will have a track out with Weezy!

Bow Wow Signs To Lil’ Wayne’s Cash Money

bow+lil+wayne Bow Wow Signs To Lil Waynes Cash Money
Rapper Bow Wow announced late last night on Twitter that he has signed with Lil’ Wayne’s Cash Money label. Check out what the pint-sized star posted:

BOW WOW IS A CASH MONEY MILLIONAIRE. SHOUT TO STUNNA FOR BELIEVING IN ME AND GIVN ME A CHANCE SHOUT OUT 2 WAYNE FOR LETN ME WALK ON BOARD! AND MY YM FAMILY AND CASH MONEY FAMILY. LBW/CASHMONEY/YOUNGMONEY BOW WOW WAYNE AND DRAKE? WHO GOT STOP THAT TRIO! GNR LETS GO ITS SHOWTIME!” {Source}

Is it me or is anyone else a little puzzled by this, as ol’ Shad said he was retiring from the industry early this year as he’d ‘done did it all’? I guess he was trying to save face after being dropped by Columbia. Oh well, I really can’t knock his hustle – regardless of how annoyingly cocky he is. Whether folks rush to the stores to buy his music will be real interesting to see, but best of luck to him.
Tidbit: Bow Wow forgot to list Omarion as one of the other artists signed to Cash Money. The pair will now be label mates again. What? I’m just saying…

Chris Brown Performs At Lil’ Wayne Show; Proclaimed The New King Of Pop

Rapper Lil’ Wayne brought embattled singer Chris Brown out as a surprise guest during his set at ‘America’s Most Wanted Festival’ in Virginia. As well as performing his part on Weezy collabo ‘Every Girl’, Brown also gave an impromptu tribute to his idol the King of Pop Michael Jackson, who died in June (still cannot believe I just typed that…), moonwalking to ‘Billie Jean’, while Lil’ Wayne proclaimed him the new King of Pop.
I guess it kinda goes without saying that Wayne was probably sipping on that syrup when he spouted that line, because there is and never will be no other King of Pop. Yes, new talent will emerge and become great, but that title is for one and one only.
About Chris, it’s good to see him getting out there again on the music tip, something someone should really recommend to Rihanna – as opposed to the constant paparazzi shots of her parading up and down. As much as it may pain some to hear this, life goes on. Whether Chris reaches the dizzy-heights of success he was very much on the brink of pre-ChRihanna-gate remains to be seen, yet the fact he’s getting on with things is commendable.

Keri Hilson Performs ‘Turnin’ Me On (w/ Lil’ Wayne)’ & ‘Energy’ on Kimmel

Hot on the promo trail for her ‘In A Perfect World…’ LP, Keri Hilson performed smash ‘Turnin’ Me On’ with Lil’ Wayne on Jimmy Kimmel last night.  She also performed ‘Energy’, which you can view below. Pretty good performances, though I’m eager to see her perform more cuts from her awesome album.
What do you think of the performance?
