BET’s ‘Rip The Runway’ 2011 was filmed last evening at the Manhattan Center in New York. Several artists attended the event including Keri Hilson, Foxy Brown, Fabolous, Melanie Fiona, Lloyd, Whiz Khalifa and Miguel.
R&B crooner Lloyd is back with the video for new single ‘Lay It Down’. The Polow Da Don produced cut is the first single to be lifted from the former Murder INC singer’s forthcoming LP ‘King of Hearts’ (due Q1 next year).
Rap-Up TV caught up with Lloyd on the set of his new video for his current single, ‘Lay It Down’. The singer spoke about the concept behind the production and also revealed that the next single from his upcoming ‘King of Hearts’ LP (which is being executive produced by Polow Da Don), will be ‘Let’s Get It In’. Peep the interview below:
With Lloyd‘s new album ‘King of Hearts’ set for release early next year, the R&B singer decided to accompany his new material with a new look. Having sported a lengthy mane since debuting in 2004, the 24 year old cut his hair – donating it to the ‘Locks for Love’ charity, whose wigs benefit those who have lost their hair via illness. {Via VIBE}
R&B singer Lloyd is back. After inking a deal with Zone4/Interscope, the former INC star is currently readying his fourth studio album ‘King of Hearts’ for release next February. In the meanwhile, he serves up the LP’s lead single ‘Lay It Down’ – which surfaced a few moments ago.
Take a listen to the Polow Da Don produced cut below. It’s a must lol…
Lloyd found himself in hot water late last year when he claimed that Ciara had been changed by fame. The singer suggested that because of how she had changed that he doesn’t “get down with her anymore”. However, Lloyd has decided to issue a public apology regarding his statements. Peep what he had to say below:
R&B singer Lloyd has announced that he will be releasing an EP entitled ‘The Young Goldie EP’ in December. The project, which includes productions and appearances from J. Holiday, Nicki Minaj, Juelz Santana, Richboy, Drake, is preceded by the title track ‘Like Me’ (featuring Bun B) which was produced by Jim Jonsin. The singer’s new album, which hits stores in 2010, comprises contributions from Jim Jonsin, Cool & Dre, Rico Love, and Rodney Jerkins.
It’s encouraging to see that Lloyd is continuing to pursue his career given everything that he has had to endure with the disaster that is now The Inc. (which some refer to as the new Bad Boy Records) and Irv Gotti. I thoroughly enjoyed a lot of his earlier releases, especially ‘Girls Around The World‘, ‘You’ and the monster club hit, ‘Get It Shawty’. If only ‘Like Me’ was of similar quality. The song is generic and boring; hardly even worth the energy required to type this sentence.Nonetheless, I’m still expecting to hear bigger, and hopefully better, things from Lloyd because he has a lot of potential. Listen to ‘Like Me’ below:
Irv Gotti’s INC ship seems to continue its descent, with R&B singer Lloyd announcing that he has too left the once dominant label:
R&B singer LLOYD has parted ways with his longtime record label The Inc.- just a month after ASHANTI walked out of her contract at the music firm.
Ashanti left the label, run by music mogul Irv Gotti, in May (09) after years of reportedly frosty relations with The Inc. bosses.
And Lloyd has now followed her out the door after releasing three albums with the company – but insists the split was amicable.
He tells AllHipHop.com, “I’m ready for a change. There’s no bad blood. I just feel I need to take more control over my career and get a fresh start. Hopefully Irv can understand my position.”
Lloyd’s manager, Henry ‘Noonie’ Lee, adds: “Even though Lloyd is appreciative of the opportunity that has been afforded him by The Inc, he feels it’s time for him to move on and seek opportunities that will allow him to build and enhance his brand.” {Source}
Ouch. It really goes to show how you can be the hotness one minute and no one wants to touch you with a barge pole the next; The INC are seeing all their talent flock elsewhere, yet no good new talent are taking their place. About Lloyd himself, I feel as though we’ve yet to see the best of what he has to offer. Here’s hoping the future is bright for him.
Unsure about this one. The track is ok but the video is kinda bland. It should do well, though, off the back of his last single ‘You’ which hit #1 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip Hop chart.
Lumidee (ft. Tony Sunshine) – She’s Like The Wind
Although I didn’t think I would, I’m liking this one. Maybe its because she’s rapping instead of attempting to sing (like before). Video is pretty much your standard R&B vid – nothing more, nothing less. One question though: Why does the feature artist appear more on the track than she does?
Timbaland (ft. Nelly Furtado & Justin Timberlake)
Not liking this one at all. The video is cheap as anything and I just can’t get into the track. Nelly’s voice- which I usually don’t mind- is really nasal and annoying. Then again, it might just be me…I can’t get past the idea that the song is supposedly taking shots at two artists I respect – Prince and Janet.
