Beyonce Performs ‘Halo’ On Today Show

Beyonce stopped by The Today Show earlier today to perform her current single ‘Halo’. Put simply, awesome performance – much better than her ‘Letterman’ showing earlier this week. Everything from her energy, to her adlibs and riffs, to her outstanding vocal delivery were on-point.

Tidbit: Beyonce’s new movie ‘Obsessed’ hits theatres in the US today. The movie also stars Idris Elba and Ali Larter. Will you be going to see it?

Jennifer Hudson & Jennier Holliday Shut It Down In ATL

Jennifer Hudson’s joint tour with Robin Thicke rolled into Atlanta last night. The Grammy and Oscar winner was joined by the legendary Jennifer Holliday during ‘And I Am Telling You’, with the pair shutting it all the way down (I love me some church wailing and Ms. Holliday’s priceless facial expressions!). A-mazing performance. {Thanks Kisha!}

New Song: Beyonce – ‘Ego (ft. Kanye West) (Remix)’

The official Kanye West assisted remix for Beyonce’s ‘Ego’ surfaced over the weekend.

Having enjoyed the swagger-heavy original, I must say I’m disappointed with this. There’s nothing in the way of new vocals on Bouncy’s part and Kanye’s verse seemed lazy and long. For a collaboration of such a magnitude, and for song that is said to be getting the single treatment, this one kinda disappoints IMO.

Ginuwine – ‘Last Chance’ Video

After a lengthy hiatus from the music scene, R&B singer Ginuwine is back with ‘Last Chance’, the first release from his forthcoming LP ‘A Man’s Thoughts’ (due June 2nd). The video for the Bryan Michael Cox song, which sees Lisa Raye and Tyrese make cameos, isn’t bad at all. My only gripe is that the choreography scenes come across kinda ’1999′. Still a decent effort.

Lil’ Wayne Performs On BET Blueprint

With the release of Lil’ Wayne’s highly anticipated LP ‘ Tha Carter III’ rapidly approaching (June 10th), the rapper performed a set on BET’s Blueprint in support of the record. The Boondocks: Banned Episode #2

The finale for the current season of Making The Band 4 took place yesterday in New York. Hosted by veteran MTV VJ Sway, the night saw performances by the show’s stars Danity Kane, Day26 etc, as well as an appearance by Diddy’s twins D’Lila Star and Jessie James. US visitors can catch the finale on MTV tonight at 9:00PM ET/PT.

Lil’ Wayne & Birdman Perform ‘Pop Bottles’ On Kimmel

Rappers Lil Wayne and Birdman performed ‘Pop Bottles’ yesterday on the ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ show. In other Lil’ Wayne news, he shot the video for ‘Lollipop’ – the first single to be lifted from his forthcoming ‘The Carter III’ album – in Las Vegas recently.

Janet Jackson Tidbits

Taken from Janet’s recent feature in the latest issue of Billboard magazine, the pic above looks great. Judging from the recent press shots of Ms. Jackson for her new album ‘Discipline’, it appears she’s going for the ‘grown and sexy’ look. Indeed, she looks both.

A new press release I received today on ‘Discipline’ confirmed the titles (and the composers) of four tracks on the album:

* ‘Discipline’ (Written and produced by Ne-Yo)
* ‘Can’t Be Good’ (Written and produced by Ne-Yo)
* ‘Letchu Go’ (Produced by Jermaine Dupri and Co-Written with Johnta Austin)
* ‘Roller Coaster’ (Produced by Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins)

Interesting. Kinda random, I know, but I’m glad Darkchild has more than one track on the CD (he produced lead single ‘Feedback’ with newcomer D’Mile). He delivered a great, unexpected new sound with ‘Feedback’, so I’m particularly anxious to see what he’s done with Janet on ‘Roller Coaster’. Saying that, I’m hoping Janet wracks up at least a couple of writing credits on the album.

‘Discipline’ hits stores in the Europe on February 25th and the US on February 26th.

Mutya Buena – ‘B Boy Baby’ (ft. Amy Winehouse) Video

Ex-Sugababes singer Mutya Buena teams up with Amy Winehouse for the latest single to be lifted from her ‘Real Girl’ album ‘B Boy Baby’. Having heard the song earlier this year, it stood out to me as one of the better cuts from Buena’s LP. The video, on the other hand, barely just serves it’s purpose. Amy Winehouse’s absence in the vid need not be explained. Still, despite the video’s shortcomings. Mutya may be onto a hit with this one.
