Mary J. Blige‘s 9th studio album ‘Stronger With Each Tear’ hit stores in the US today.
Though initially sceptical about the project based on earlier samples, we here at That Grape Juice are loving what Blige has served up with this and have had the LP on constant replay since receiving it. Best described as “one of those albums where (almost) every song could be a single”, Blige is clearly onto a winner this go round. Here’s hoping the record’s sales reflect that.

Mary J. Blige guested on ‘The Jay Leno Show’ last evening. The singer performed the second single from her forthcoming ‘Stronger With Each Tear’ LP, entitled ‘I Am‘. To date, the song has peaked at #67 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #18 on the Hip-Hop/R&B chart.
As usual, Blige sounded and looked amazing. She is one of the few acts who can deliver consistent performances, even during a tumultuous promotion schedule. Although her vocal performances have a few imperfections at times, her presence is enough to make the casual listener overlook such blemishes. Good stuff.

Ever time Blige takes the stage to perform this song, she brings new life to the lyrics. This was certainly a strong performance and she demonstrated excellent control over her instrument. Well done Mary.
This week’s classic From The Vault video is Wyclef & Mary J. Blige’s year 2000 collaboration ’911′, which was lifted from the former Fugee star’s ‘Ecleftic’ LP. Put simply, this track still goes hard today, with the video having aged particularly well some 10 years later. A classic.
Last evening the Skylight Studio, New York hosted the official launch of VEVO, the music video website started by Universal Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment. Mary J. Blige‘s video for new single ‘I Am’, the lead single from her forthcoming LP ‘Stronger With Each Tear’,’ premiered within the hour. Though rather simplistic, I’m loving the visuals in the clip; Mary looks great and it’s evident money was spent on this one – even if only on the setting and the overall gloss of the vid. What’s more, the video is befitting to the song, which I’ve had on replay for the longest while and gets better with every listen.
