As flop albums go, Nelly Furtado is re-writing the “rule book”.
For, despite her latest LP selling just 6000 copies first week in the US last year, the Canadian star is pressing on with promotion. A commendable decision, yet one which is seeing her confronted with blunt questions about her commercial relevancy – to her face.
One such instance is a new interview with Gig City, who quizzed ‘The Spirit Indestructible’ singer on “why she’s not famous any more”.
What did the 34 year old say in response? Her answer awaits after the jump…

Once, twice, thrice, we’ve said it many a time, but can’t say it enough – Nelly Furtado has quite the hustle factor.
For, despite selling just 6000 copies first week of her latest album ‘The Spirit Indestructble’ in the US last September, the eclectic star has pressed on with promotion. Indeed, in the months since, the 34 year old has announced a small-venue Euro-Canadian tour, and has released new visuals. The latest of the latter is for the LP’s fourth single ‘Waiting For The Night’.

One has to admire Nelly Furtado.
For, unlike many artists who willfully and skillfully erase any trace of their flop projects, the Canadian native is standing by her latest LP ‘The Spirit Indestructible’. This, despite the set selling just 6,000 copies first week in the US last September.
Having already opened up on the project’s performance (or lack-thereof), the 34 year old offers “interesting” insight on her career plans in the wake of the album’s sales in a new interview with the Times Colonist.

For Nelly Furtado, the cost her six year long chart hiatus hit home upon the release of her new LP ‘The Spirit Indestructible’.
Leaving spectators dazed and confused with first week sales failing to hit 7,000 units sold figure, recent weeks have seen Furtado shy away from speaking on the project…until now.
Find out what she had to say on the release below…

These days a six week industry hiatus runs risk of folk forgetting you; hence a six year break is arguably asking for it.
Case, point Nelly Furtado, who’ll need to channel the title of her new album ‘The Spirit Indestructible’ to get over its shocking chart performance this week.
Preceded by singles ‘Big Hoops’, ‘Parking Lot’, and its title track, the LP (which is Furtado’s first traditional release since 2006′s super-seller ‘Loose’) is on course to debut with shocking numbers.
