As far as the charts go, Rihanna is well and truly the thorn in many a Pop Princess’ side. As far as the stages goes….well that goes without saying doesn’t it?

Renowned for serving vocals of the deep fried persuasion, it’s a wonder people still pay to see the entertainer(?) live when the likes of Beyonce are touring at the same time.

Alas, in getting caught up in the smoke’n'mirrors that serve her cause so well, there are some who make this mistake of doing so….at their own risk.

Hot Shots: Rihanna Hits Bulls Vs Nets Game

As each and every one of her ‘Unapologetic‘ cuts heads to the commercial heavens, Rihanna enjoyed some downtime in NYC two days ago- hitting the Bulls vs Nets game with close friend and ROC pal Tyran Smith.

Sporting a new hue as she signed autographs for fans, the ‘If It’s Lovin’ That You Want‘ songbird was snapped in what has no doubt been a busy week for her fellow Roc siblings- with Rita Ora continuing work on her US debut in LA and Elijah Blake gearing up for the release of his ‘XOX’ video- set for release by the summer’s end.

Rihanna Releases New ’777′ Documentary Trailer / Critics Rip Show To Shreds

As anyone who’s been to a Rihanna show (that wasn’t cancelled) will agree, performing isn’t where her “wow” factor lies. Indeed, even her staunchest supporters will be the first to confirm that it’s her catalogue of hits that make her, for better or worse.

Therefore, it’s little surprise that her new ’777′ tour documentary has been unceremoniously slammed by critics.

Set to air on Fox on May 6th, the fly on the wall special chronicles the 25-year-old’s 7 shows, in 7 cities, over 7 nights promo push for her hit album ‘Unapologetic’. The ‘Diamonds’ led set, which is her 7th LP, became her first chart-topping project in the US upon release last November.

And while the album’s success may relay a triumphant narrative, its accompanying docu-movie reportedly boasts little in replay value. Not a good look when the full 77 minute version of the hour-long special will be released on DVD a day later (May 7th).

‘Diamonds World Tour’: Rihanna Soars With ‘No Love Allowed’

As far as her up tempos go, Rihanna has always struggled to execute the renditions of her cuts live half as well as well as she does in the studio.

However, the same can’t be said when it comes to her ballads or mid tempos. The proof of that pudding was showcased in the earlier part of last week, when she took her ‘Diamonds World Tour’ to Baltimore’s 1st Mariner Arena, and performed her Reggae kissed cut ‘No Love Allowed.

Meeting members of her loyal fan base ‘The Navy’ as she stepped out of the Italian spot, ‘The Final Goodbye’ singer sported a pair of Tom Ford gladiator boots nights after serving another hit packed ‘Diamonds’ show, and hours after ROC sister Rita Ora enjoyed the company of Beyonce and Jay Z in London!
