Shakira Performs ‘Santa Baby’

Vocal vixen Shakira performed a rendition of the Christmas classic ‘Santa Baby’ at last evening’s at NBC’s 12th Annual ‘Christmas in Rockefeller Center’. The event was held at the Rockefeller Plaza in New York City and also featured Aretha Franklin, Alicia Keys and The Roots. The special will air on NBC on December 2nd.

A lot of people criticise Shakira’s singing because they don’t understand her unconventional technique. However, there is no denying that she sounded amazing in this performance. Just imagine if certain other singers tried their hands at that song; it definitely won’t be a very merry Christmas.

New Video: Shakira – ‘Give It Up To Me’

Belly dancing beauty Shakira has just dropped the full version of the video for her new song ‘Give It Up To Me’. The track was produced by Timbaland, who also co-wrote the track along with Dwayne Carter, and features the ever-present Lil Wayne. Shakira’s new album, ‘She Wolf’, will be released in the US on November 23rd.

The video is by no means as thrilling as her other recent releases (see She Wolf) but it serves its purpose. I appreciate the fact that Shakira is experimenting with new sounds and concepts on this album, as well as more intricate choreography instead of remaining in her comfort zone (although I have no problem with her mesmerising hip shaking). All the more power to her for being creative with her artistry.

Sidebar: I am eager to hear the Illuminati theorists perspectives on the symbolism of her multi-handed Statue of Liberty. Bring on the crazies…

Preview: Shakira ‘Give It Up To Me (ft. Lil’ Wayne)’ Video

Peep this brief preview of the video for Shakira’s Lil’ Wayne-assisted single ‘Give It Up To Me’. While I’ll reserve judgement until seeing the video in its entirety, it’s quite refreshing to the 32 year old (bet you didn’t know that LOL) engage in choreography in the traditional sense. Clip looks real cool.

Shakira Performs ‘Give It Up To Me’ On Letterman

Saucy Shakira stopped by the Late Show With David Letterman a few hours ago to perform ‘Give It Up To Me’, the 2nd US single to be lifted from her ‘She Wolf’ (awwooooooo lol…ok that was sad, but I’ve always wanted to do it LOL) LP.

Though I’m not sure if the song, which I’ve had on REPLAY for the last week or so, translated as well live, Shakira did a decent enough job here.

Tidbit: You’ll be seeing Shakira a lot more around That Grape Juice in the next few weeks (hint hint v.20. baby!)

New Song: Shakira Ft. Kid Cudi – ‘Did It Again (Remix)’

sk 2 New Song: Shakira Ft. Kid Cudi Did It Again (Remix)

Sexy siren Shakira and Kid Cudi have teamed up to create the official remix of her international release, ‘Did It Again’. The original version song, which will not be released in the US, has so far managed to reach #50 on the Spanish Singles Chart. Shakira’s new album, ‘She Wolf’, will be released on November 23rd.

Having thoroughly enjoyed thee original version of this song, I was a bit worried that a remix would have diluted it’s flavour. On the contrary, I rather enjoyed every moment of this remix! The pumping dance beat, the heavy bass and the tight production on her vocals suited the song perfectly. However, Kid Cudi’s verse was a bit forgettable and  he came across as nothing more than a hype man on the track; adding nothing to the chemistry of the song. That said, I remain eager to hear Shakira’s new project. Great work.

New Video: Shakira – ‘Did It Again’

Sexy siren Shakira has released the video for ‘Did It Again’. However, the single will not be released in the US market. Rather it will only be availabel internationally and has been replaced in the States by the Timbaland and Lil Wayne-assisted ‘Give It Up To Me’. Shakira’s 3rd English studio album, ‘She Wolf‘ be released in the US on November 23rd.

Why this song is not being promoted as a single in the US is beyond me. It coincides quite nicely with the Dance/Pop elements that are currently dominating the airwaves a la Lady GaGa and Rihanna. The video is exciting and, as usual, Shakira emanates the kind of raw yet natural sex appeal that many other acts struggle to imitate. Hopefully she sees success with this album because unlike one of the aforementioned artists, her talent deserves to be rewarded.

Shakria Performs ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ On Dancing With The Stars

Shakira stopped by ABC’s Dancing With The Stars this week to promote her new LP ‘She Wolf’. The Colombian beauty performed her 2005 smash ‘Hips Don’t Lie’. While her live vocals left a lot to be desired (as usual), I really enjoyed this performance. You know a *star, star* when there is no one that can be compared to them. Good stuff.

Shakira Performs ‘She Wolf’ On Le Grand Journal

Shakira continues to promote her smash ‘She Wolf’ in Europe, recently stopping by popular French show Le Grand Journal to perform it.

While her previous live offerings of the song have been decent, they’ve dually been kinda ‘just there’; however, the Columbian beauty nailed this particular performance. Spurred on, I’m sure, by the uber receptive crowd, this IMO stands as her best live showing of the song to date. Fierce, sassy, and oozing sex appeal, she nailed it. It was also great to see her actually attempt to sing the verses as opposed to lip-synch as she had done so previously (there’s no need to deny she sucks live vocally, but browny points for trying…plus she is one hell of a ‘performer’). Good stuff.

Shakira Performs ‘She Wolf’ On America’s Got Talent

Shakira. last night on the finale of America’s Got Talent, gave the first televised performance of smash hit single ‘She Wolf’. With live vocals not being the Latin star’s strongest feat, I’ve definitely been itching to see this performed live to see if it translates as well.
About the performance; she did the damn thing! Granted she lip-synched/half-sang over the track (which was for just as much her benefit as it was ours LOL), she was getting it with her choreography/free styling. Great performance.

New Song: LeToya – ‘Lazy’

letoya+mike+ruiz New Song: LeToya Lazy

Some the That Grape Juice faithful who visted the site yesterday would have noticed the brief posting about being able to preview LeToya’s new ‘Lady Love’ LP on Amazon. Well it turns out it was a glitch on Amazon’s part, so big that not only were folk able to preview the whole album…they were able to but it too!
Thankfully for LeToya, who we’re big supporters of here at That Grape Juice, the damage seems to be limited with little of anything floating around the net from the record. That said, the full version of ‘Lazy’ did ’surface’. I’m really liking this one, it’s a mid-tempo with that ‘knock’.
Seemingly one of the few who got to preview the album, I’m kinda on the fence. Perhaps due to LeToya’s Destiny’s Child beginning, I have been itching for a bit more variety in terms of her tracks, most of which on this album seem very much to be mid-tempos about very similar topics. With LeToya evidently being able to do her thing on the uptempo tip (See: ‘All Eyes On Me’, ‘Tear The Club Up’, ‘I’m Good’), I’d definitely love to see her go down that route a bit more, for she’s risking being typecast as the soppy mid-tempo balladeer. Nonetheless, I’m still anticipating ‘Lady Love’ (due August 25th via Capitol/EMI).
Hit or Miss?
