The Game Begins Jail Sentence

the+game22 The Game Begins Jail Sentence Rapper The Game, today, began serving his 60 day prison term for weapon possession:
The Game finally showed up to Twin Towers to serve his weapons-possession sentence, and we’ve learned that he’ll be a “keep away” while inside, meaning that he’ll be segregated from the general population while in the joint. {Source}

I’m still waiting for one of these celebs to get a legit sentence and not a slap on the wrist. We all know, had it been a member of the public, the sentence would have been longer.

Snoop Dogg: "I Don’t Need Dr. Dre"

Snoop Dogg recently spoke about his relationship with Dr. Dre on Chicago’s Power 92 radio station on the Kendra G show. Though he maintained that everything is cool with his former collaborator, he had some interesting words about why Dre doesn’t feature on his new record ‘Ego Trippin” (due March 11th). Check it out:

Snoop Performs ‘Sensual Seduction’ on Ellen

Snoop Dogg stopped by the ‘Ellen Degeneres’ show earlier this week to perform his latest single ‘Sensual Seduction’. Though kinda weary of the song at first, I have to give Snoop his props -he came with something ‘different’ this time and it turned out great.

In other Snoop news, his reality show ‘Snoop Dogg’s Father Hood’ premieres this Sunday in the US at 10:30/9:30c on the E! channel.

New Song: Mario – ‘City’ (ft. Akon)

mario21 New Song: Mario   City (ft. Akon)Check out this new track from R&B singer Mario. ‘City’, which features Akon, was recorded for Mario’s forthcoming album ‘Go!’, however ended up being left off the final track listing. Though I like the overall vibe of the song, I can see why it didn’t make the final cut; the album’s material is simply alot stronger than this. Still worth a listen, though. {Our interview with Mario will be up on Monday next week}

John Legend – ‘Another Again’ Video

To be honest I was kinda surprised to see that John is still cranking out singles from his sophomore album ‘Once Again’ ; I thought it was done with. Like the entire album, I’m not really feeling ‘Another Again’ and it’s accompanying video – finding it be pretty much a snooze fest. Whereas John’s debut LP was one of my favourites from 2005, the follow-up was a collection of songs that could easily pass for elevator music. Here’s hoping he delivers with his future efforts.

What do you think of the song / video?

New Song: Snoop Dogg – ‘Sexual Eruption’

snoop New Song: Snoop Dogg Sexual EruptionWith Snoop Dogg set to release his new album ‘Ego Trippin” early nex year, the set’s first single ‘Sexual Eruption’ has surfaced. To be honest, I can’t say I’m liking this one all that much. IMO Snoop has yet to recapture that ‘something’ that made his 2004 effort ‘Rhythm and Gangsta’ such a hit-spawning CD. For the record, it isn’t T-Pain on the song’s hook.

It’s about time! Aside from the fact that its been 5 months since ‘Like This’ came out, ‘Ghetto’ is doing real good on Urban radio so dropping the video soon is a must.

Jay-Z Tops Hip Hop Rich List

jayz2 Jay Z Tops Hip Hop Rich ListAccording to Forbes latest list of Hip Hop’s wealthiest, Jay-Z is the industry’s biggest earner – with an estimated $34 million amassed in 2006. The Def Jam president was followed by 50 Cent and Diddy (who has been slowly dropping down the list each year). Check out the complete list below:

1. Jay-Z $34 million
2. 50 Cent $32 million
3. Diddy $28 million
4. Timbaland $21 million
5. Dr. Dre $20 million
6. Eminem $18 million
7. Snoop Dogg $17 million
8. Kanye West $17 million
9. Pharrell Williams $17 million
10. Scott Storch $17 million

I still see Jay as more of a ‘name president’ than handling anything for real over at Def Jam. With that said, I can’t hate – the man is doing it big. Some of the others are kinda questionable…
