New Video: Toni Braxton Ft. Trey Songz – ‘Yesterday (Remix)’

Chocolate contralto Toni Braxton released the music video for the remix of the first single off her upcoming album, ‘Yesterday‘. The clip was directed by Billie Woodruff and features Braxton’s collaborator on the track, Trey Songz. To date, ‘Yesterday’ has climbed to #49 on the Hip-Hop/R&B charts. Braxton’s new album, ‘Pulse’, hits stores in February 2010.

This video is the typical ‘recession special’ that has come to define the caliber of music videos given the current economy. Either way, there is no denying that Toni is possibly the beautiful woman in the music industry today – beautiful face, body, skin and voice. I am surprised that there wasn’t any more chemistry between her and Trey in the video though, especially given their recent passionate performance at the Soul Train Music Awards. I was really hoping to see more intimacy between the two, rather than having them in completely different shots without any interaction what so ever.

Sidebar: Toni’s wig collection sure got some air time in this video huh?

New Video: Trey Songz – ‘I Invented Sex’ (Warning: Explicit)

The video for R&B star Trey Songz’ latest single ‘I Invented Sex’ premièred a few moments ago (if it sounds like we say that alot, it’s because we’re uber on top of things! LOL). Check it out above (warning: it’s rather explicit).

Yawn. Regardless of the song’s title, it’s quite evident the explicit nature of the video is soley what’s supposed to entice folks into watching it over and over; however, I find it hard to ignore how cheap this looks (recession video anyone?). Like, seriously, it’s as if it was shot on a Sony Handycam and edited on Windows Movie Maker. No, no, no.

Trey’s 3rd album ‘Ready’ is in stores now.

New Song: Mariah Carey – ‘Inseparable (Remix) (ft. Trey Songz)’

mimi trey

As Mariah Carey’s latest effort ‘Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel’ continues to skydive (without a parachute) down the charts, a new remix lifted from her ‘Memoirs’ features/remix LP has surfaced in the form of the Trey Songz-assisted ‘Inseparable’. A decent enough mid-tempo, yet not one I envision many parting with their cash to buy her remix CD for.

Hit or Miss?

Tamia To Release A Live Album

Tamia To Release A Live Album R&B songstress Tamia will be recording her first ever live album, it has been confirmed. Some of you may remember her alluding to toying with the idea, in our interview with her back in May. The recording will take place during her an exclusive show in Washington, DC on August 10th.
Considering Tamia is one of the few artists who sound equally as good, if not better, live, this is one release I’ll really be looking forward to.

Leona Performs ‘Bleeding Love’ At ECHO Awards

UK singing sensation Leona Lewis performed her smash ‘Bleeding Love’ at Germany’s ECHO Awards ceremony last night (February 15th). Not her best performance of the song – a couple of ‘iffy’ moments made for that – but still great all the same. Meanwhile, it’s been confirmed ‘Better With Time’ is Leona’s next single here in the UK.

Cassie – ‘Is It You?’ Video

The video for Cassie’s new single ‘Is It You?’ premiered yesterday. Taken from the soundtrack for the ‘Step Up 2′ movie (OST due February 5th), the song was produced by her mentor Ryan Leslie. Though the clip is pretty much standard-soundtrack video-fare, I’m really liking the song – I can’t even deny it. Is it me or has Cassie stepped up her vocal game (not that that’s saying much, but still)?

What do you think of the song / video?

Trina On The Set Of ‘Single Again’

Trina On The Set Of 'Single Again' Rapper Trina shot the video for her new single ‘Single Again’ this past Friday at a mansion Coconut Grove, Florida . Expect the vid to consist of various scenes; including a wedding, pool and club. It appears there’s truth to the stories of Trina’s new deal with EMI (in partnership with Slip-N-Slide) being worth a lot of money; the vid (and it’s budget) looks to be Trina’s best yet. ‘Single Again’ will be the first single to be lifted from Trina’s forthcoming album ‘Still Da Baddest’ – due February 12th 2008.

Chilli Does The ‘Soulja Boy’

It’s been kind of slow news day today, but this caught my attention. There’s no doubt that Soulja Boy’s ‘Crank That’ song/dance has become pretty big, but it was still funny watching TLC’s Chilli doing the ‘Soulja Boy’…she was getting it! The singer did her thing during a recent stop at Atlanta’s V103 radio station.

Beyonce Update: New Performances & New Track

R&B ‘It-Chick’ Beyonce continued the promotion of her B’Day re-release by performing on The Early Show. The performances were filmed this Monday and were screened yesterday. ‘Irreplaceable’ and ‘Beautiful Liar’ (minus Shakira) were the songs she sang. She did good on both songs, however the audience were kinda dead during the Beautiful Liar performance. I would have preferred her perform something else, as there are stronger cuts on the album that haven’t yet been performed live i.e. ‘Upgrade U’ and ‘Get Me Bodied’. Anyway check out the performances…

Irreplaceable

Beautiful Liar

What did you think?

In more Beyonce news, a new track which is only featured on the European version of the B’Day re-release (due April 23rd) has surfaced. The song, titled ‘If’, is decent. If anything, it reminds me of Rihanna’s ‘Unfaithful’.
