That Grape Juice was fortunate enough to catch up with the Diamond Princess herself, Trina, at the tail end of last year. During the course of our lengthy conversation, the Miami native discussed her latest effort ‘Still Da Baddest’ (out now), as well as a host of other issues including her much-publicised relationship with Lil’ Wayne, her raunchy image, the (female) rap industry, Khia and much much more. A long, yet very revealing interview. Enjoy.

Trina’s great new album ‘Still Da Baddest’ is out now! Do be sure to pick up a copy.

As previously reported, a new Beyonce track surfaced earlier this week, amid confusion about its origins. The Grammy Award winning singer issued the following statement on her official website addressing the situation:Yesterday, ‘Beautiful Nightmare,’ a demo I’ve been working on for possible inclusion on my next album, leaked on some websites. I want to thank all my fans for the positive response to the song, but I want to tell you that this is just a work in progress.
It is not my time to put out new music. If you really want to hear some really great music now, you have to support my girls Kelly, Michelle and my sister Solange. Kelly just re-released her album digitally in the US, so check out Ms. Kelly: Diva Deluxe. Michelle is about to put out the first single, ‘We Break The Dawn,’ from her album and Solange’s single, ‘I Decided,’ is already one of my favorites.”
Granted this does seem a little scripted, I do commend this move, whoever made the call for it. Music World do have other interesting projects in the pipeline and diverting attention back to them is a good look IMO.

Following her mini-concert on Good Morning America earlier today, Janet Jackson performed ‘Feedback’ at MTV’s TRL (boy, does it feel weird, but good to say that). What can I say? Janet killed it. The energy levels had been cranked up from the GMA performance, crowd were hyped, the band were on-point, choreography, everything! Watching this back really has me feeling Janet can really make one of the biggest comebacks in recent times. Awesome.

Though a fact not known by many, R&B songstress Nivea and 2007 breakout star Terius ‘The Dream’ Nash are, indeed, married and have a 2 year old daughter together Navy Talia. Mild rumors about a possible divorce have been mounting for a short while; in a statement to the press, Nivea confirmed them to be true: I am also sorry to have to report the news of our separation. It is however a mutual decision for the both of us. We see this as an attempt to try and maintain the friendship we’ve developed since our marriage and also to allow growth for myself as well as him. Unfortunately I was not prepared for partnership or even real life for that matter. I am completely and truly grateful and thankful to God for sending him into my life and to him for everything that he has done for me and my family and that includes monetarily as well as spiritually and mentally, especially for myself, which was never his responsibility in the first place. None of you are aware of the real me and I plan to make that as clear as possible on this next album. I come from a sad and scary past that I am still in the process of overcoming and growing past, thanks to the man I love and always will. This is truly the only person I’ve ever known or heard of that is incredibly loving, passionate, wise, psychic, wise, creative, genius, and many more things that I could never put into words. I don’t feel it is fair for neither of us, especially him, to continue this never-ending battle of the minds that he and i have continued for long enough. I want nothing more than for him and I to be happy. His happiness is all i want, for I could never repay him for what he has endured by being my friend, partner, and husband.

Def Jam’s Rihanna is currently touring in support of her ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ album. On September 24th, the Bajan star hit Montreal’s Bell Center in Canada for a show and MSN Music was there to tape the event. By clicking the link at the bottom of this post, you can watch the entire concert – which was made available online yesterday .
About the concert, I thought she did ‘ok’. Call me a hater or whatever, but it lacked the energy of a show I would spend my money on. Still, I’m sure there are those who are feeling what she has to offer…

Fresh off Tweet’s appearance on VH1’s Hip Honors event this past week, the singer’s new single has surfaced. ‘My Dear’ is the lead track from Tweet’s third album entitled ‘Love, Tweet’. The track was originally recorded by Ciara, but never released. I kinda have mixed feelings about this one; on the one hand, Tweet’s vocals (and it’s arrangement) flow effortlessly over the mid-tempo production – making for a pretty good track. However, T.I. verse serves no purpose and it feels as if he’s on the song just to sell it. What’s more, I can’t help but feel a little cheated that instead of hitting us with something really new, we get a Ciara re-hash. Still, it’s enough for me simply because this rare talent is back. Here’s hoping the album lives up to the standard of it’s predecessors.Filed Under: Trina
R&B singer J. Holiday recently performed his smash hit ‘Bed’ on Yahoo’s ‘Who’s Next’ series. After initially being kinda wary of the track, I can’t stop listening to it and each of J’s performances seem to be better than the last. This one is definitely one to watch out for.

Rapper Chamillionaire is set to release his sophomore effort ‘Ultimate Victory’ on September 18th. Following the controversy surrounding the use of the ‘N’ word in Hip Hop, Chamillionaire decided to no longer feature profanities in his songs; a concept featured in both of these new vids. The first, ‘Hip Hop Police’ sees the rapper take on the role of an ‘offender’ on the run. In ‘Evening News’, fun is poked at America’s idea of newsworthy news. As well as being pretty funny, I’m liking these because he’s stepped out of the box and gone left-field – something Urban acts don’t do enough.

R&B singer Brandy has broken her silence regarding the various ‘wrongful death’ lawsuits levelled against her. The complaints were made by the family members of a 38 year old woman -Awatef Aboudihaj- who died in a four-car collision on December 30th last year in LA – a collision they claim was caused by the singer. However, in court documents filed this Wednesday, Brandy, though remorseful, ’specifically denies each and every allegation in the wrongful death complaints filed against her’. The ‘Boy Is Mine’ singer is requesting the case be brought before a jury to prove her innocence in the accident.
