Wendy Williams continues expand her TV repertoire.

For, the shock jock turned television maven is maturing her production output by signing on to executive produce Lifetime‘s much-talked  about Aaliyah biopic.

Surprising, right?

Full details below…

The revelation came today on Twitter, where Williams wrote:

The mogul’s addition to the project will only intensify the debate that has engulfed the film. Indeed, not only have the late singer’s family hired a lawyer to prevent her music from being used in the movie, there has been drama surrounding who’ll portray the much-loved star – who died aged 22 in a tragic plane crash thirteen years ago.

In a move that was all sorts of messy, singer Zendaya was formally announced as the actress that snagged the role – press release et al. Yet, days later, she would go on to declare her departure from the project.

*******

Will Williams’ addition bring some much needed order to the already controversial production? Time will tell. What is certain is that she has a tall task ahead of her.

I’m glad an unknown is playing A aliyah. She looks more like her than Zendaya

  3. Molly July 18, 2014

I wish Zendaya still had the role i just feel so bad for her because she was looking foward to playing the role.

First things first I use payola.

  4. yaas July 18, 2014

Yaaaaas this is gonna some messy s***. You know wendell will not leave out the underage f******/marriage with Rkelly… Plus the Jayz/Dame situation, Missy/timb etc..
    Yaaas.

  5. SoGone4Monica July 18, 2014

This is the best thing to happen to the movie. Miss Williams was around in the 90s and knew what went down and she WON’T hold back on anything that she know happened. I’m excited.

The only people who think is bad are people who don’t know Wendy’s history. She was the girl who would call everyone out on their s*** and was almost killed by Miss Jones in the mornings husband for talking smack. She isn’t afraid of anything.

What a messy person. Now we know it won’t be nothing but made up rumors in this film. Wendy is the lowest scum on the Earth.

So some of you are happy now because you expect Wendy to bring out some dirty juicy details in the story? If that’s what attracts you to Aaliyah, you are neither a fan nor someone who has any business trying to produce a biopic.

    • Aaliyah’sAngel July 18, 2014

You call them dirty juicy details. I call it the truth.

      • SMH July 18, 2014

A fan of a disgusting person like this would think that.

  9. MISHKA July 18, 2014

They did my gurl Zendaya wrong but I found on Alexandra Ship that she reps the BeyHive so I can decently bash her. Good luck to ya.

Congrats to Wendy as well! Now I can see this movie happening.

    • MISHKA July 18, 2014

      I *can’t* bash her

  10. Dontdoit July 18, 2014

    Smh my heart is heavy.

We hear all kinds of crazyness about this movie, and nobody involved into it doesn’t tell if they contacted the family or not!! as if like they don’t care about her family…
All I see is money making, not honoring a dead singer…

    • janet1814 July 18, 2014

Her family are the reason she’s dead, so f**k em!

  12. SMH July 18, 2014

The Haughtons will shut this down too. No way in hell will they allow this messy t***** to be involved in telling their daughter’s life.

    • Brian310 July 19, 2014

I’m saying tho….every time people try it always fails and this time should be no different the Haughtons play no games.

This is bad news.. Aaliyah is such a beautiful soul an angel who is loved and remembered for so many great things by her fans , family and friends, now her story is going to be tainted with trashy stories and gossip, I feel so sorry for her , i hope that her family one day get to tell her story the way she would want it to be told

    • pon_de July 18, 2014

lololol no one is checking for the disney channel version of Aaliyah cuz we all knoe there’s some skeletons in the closet. she was beautiful and a great talent but the movie must include the good, bad, and the ugly in order to br authentic.

      • Anne July 18, 2014

I agree. The parents would only try to sugar coat everything and make the movie boring and inauthentic, and not worth watching.

  14. FutureCIARA July 19, 2014

    The Movie will still FLOP!

    Bye

    (I love Aunt Wendy)

  15. Blacksista July 20, 2014

Don’t want Aaliyah legacy to the newer generation to be like that. Wendy does not care about Aaliyah or her music just gossip and rumors. Aaliyah was a very you girl when she died so her parents the who love her have the right to protect their daughter’s legacy. Wendy would be the same way if it were little Kev

  16. Tito July 28, 2014

Alexandria looks nothing like Aaliyah or have Aaliyahs vibe . That alone is why the movie will flop.they should of have kept searching .
