When it was announced that Shonda Rhimes would “own” ABC’s Thursday night prime-time schedule with a whopping three shows (‘Scandal’, new series ‘How To Get Away With Murder’, and ‘Greys Anatomy’), many lauded praise on the TV writer.
And with the first back-to-back run of the shows having aired last night, the accolades looks set to keep rolling in.

‘How To’, a soapy legal murder mystery starring Viola Davis as a tough defense attorney and law professor delivered a whopping 14 million viewers and a 3.8 rating among adults 18-49 at 10 p.m. Murder tied in the adult demo its lead-in—the fourth season return of Rhimes’ hit D.C. soap Scandal (11.9 million, 3.8). In fact, among total viewers, Murderdelivered an even bigger audience than Scandal. While the 11th season premiere of Rhimes’ medical drama Grey’s Anatomy (9.8 million, 3.0) impressively opened the night at 8 p.m. in a time slot that ABC has long struggled to fill. This across-the-board performance is, frankly, pretty incredible.

We caught both shows last night and each delivered the same cutting edge entertainment that makes Shonda’s shows such engrossing watches. What’s more, for a freshman series, ”Murder’ delivered enough angles to ensure itself ample longevity. Here’s hoping the audience stick with it to ensure it realizes that potential.

I watched both and HTGAWM gave me what the pilot of Scandal gave me and I’m hoping Pete utilizes Violas supreme acting skills, unlike Shondas failure to pour any depth or development into KW’s character.
“Queen Betsy (Shondas’ right hand), Queen Bellamy Young (Mellie) and Queen rest of the cast except Viola” – If these white tv critics were to tell it.
Some TV critics have a serious problem with a black lead, championing Tom Mison and the woman who plays his wife above the lead female Nicole Beharie and Mellie (Bellamy Young) over Kerry. I guess these figures show you that people tune in because of the name of the three BLACK women attached to it!!!!

I just finished watching Scandal at my desk a few minutes ago, and have Murder on my DVR. Congratulations to all. I’m hoping they stay around. This also just shows that with the correct time slot and etc., that sitcoms beat out reality shows. 14 million >>>>>>>>>> 2.8 million
I thought Scandal was going to have the highest ratings that night! But then again its Season 4 for Scandal and they are getting their highest ratings ever, I supposed How To Get Away With Murder still slated because it came on at 10 PM EST Time! Crayyyy

HTGAWM is easily becoming my favorite show this Fall season!
The script is well written, The characters are super cute with great acting skills, The story is sooo juicy even on the first episode, And the Sexxx Scenes were HOT, Given what they were allowed by ABC!!

How To Get Away With Murder was so good I completely forgot what took place on Scandal. I literally had to rewatch that episode. Viola Davis is captivating. There was nothing but gut wrenching blows at every corner, fantastic acting & great writing. Side note why is the Queens name swarming on amongst this topic? On The Run was broadcasted through premium cable these shows were transmitted through a network television channel nearly EVERYONE receives. You illogical mules do nothing but reiterate the notion/fact that she is the standard that your incompetent ass favs just can’t simply live up to. Enjoy your weekend.
