Bad new for viewers of ‘The Queen Latifah Show’.

The daytime talker was officially cancelled as of this morning.

Details below…

TMZ reports:

The show is in its 2nd season and we’re told production will be coming to a halt. Our sources say the staff was brought into an office Friday AM and given the news. The honchos weren’t specific but it’s all about ratings and cost.

Writing a letter to her staff on Facebook moments after the announcement, media mogul Latifah said:

“Thank you for your strong work ethic and great effort in getting The Queen Latifah Show off the ground and running.

Your dedication and sacrifice was crucial to the entire team, and in the face of intense challenges, you displayed “True Grit”!

You can also say you have been a blessing to and been blessed by amazing guests and incredible audiences for this show.We truly changed people’s lives for the better.

So… STAY POSITIVE, STAY STRONG, and most importantly, STAY OPEN… There is so much more God has in store!

Lovingly, You!

P.S. This letter is for me, my staff, my crew, and everyone who was by my side for this incredible journey. The most important thing in life is that you wake up every single day and take chances. No matter what the outcome…believe in yourself and continue to fly.”

Unfortunate.

Needless to say, it’s a reminder of how unrelenting the ratings game is. If the numbers don’t don’t up, deletion is often around the corner

Still, we doubt the Queen will be down for long. She has a successful production company in the form of Flavor Unit, which produces shows such as ‘Single Ladies’ and many other projects for VH1.

  2. Beysus November 21, 2014

    Awww… Oh dear…

  3. Sherry November 21, 2014

Love Queen, but it’s not surprising. The show sucked.

  4. 2bad2bme November 21, 2014

no lie the show was good but nothing to rush to the TV for

  5. Tasha November 21, 2014

She had a talk show?… Oh.

  6. Casual-T November 21, 2014

I’m not surprised at all. It was a good show but too safe and non-controversial, b/c Queen Latifah doesn’t do negativity. What tells the tale is not Latifah’s cancellation, but the fact that Messy Wendy’s show is skyrocketing in the ratings.

  7. JOHNVIDAL November 21, 2014

Shame cause she has class while others like Wendy Willow or whatever her name is live from talking s*** and being fake.

  8. Navy Nick November 21, 2014

Sad, I agree with above: Wendy negative fake ass can stay on tv,’while we have a positive beautiful person doing good & it gets cut…, sad.

If anyone was being fake it was Queen Latifah. She was acting like the black Ellen or something it wasn’t genuine at all and the GP did not connect. Wendy has always been messy it’s what she’s known for and it works for her. If Queen woulda been a little more real, then her show would be renewed and not canceled.

I am not surprised. She was classy but boring.
    Now to THE REAL……..

Tamar is funny but she needs to bring it down just a little. She makes the show fun tho.

Loni is ghetto and makes me want to turn the channel when she opens her mouth. She needs to leave the show.

Tamera is classy but … kind of boring. She isnt the only biracial person that gets discrimnated against. Some white people go after J Cole cuz they think he chose his black side.

Adrienne is good but she needs to bring it down a little. Just a little.

Jeanne is OK. She doesnt make or break the show. She can be tolerated.

They need to stop the RATCHET segments. It makes them look tacky. Not good for their brand.

I hope they stay on the air.

The Real will last for at least 3 more seasons. They’re actually beating shows like The Talk, The Chew, Doctor Oz and Meredith Viera in ratings which shocked me lol. They do need to lose the ratchet segments but I think it actually helps the show for some reason, but they need more relevant guests. Ppl like Brandy, Ciara, Kelly Rowland, T.I., Ludacris, cast members from the Real Housewives franschises and major primetime shows on ABC, CBS and Fox would also help drive up the ratings

but they need more relevant guests. Ppl like Brandy, Ciara [NOT RELEVANT], Kelly Rowland {NOT RELEVANT], T.I. [he was on the show already to promo his album so was Tiny], Ludacris [Not relevant but likely will be on for Fast & Furious promo], cast members from the Real Housewives franchises [They’ve had a few and Porsha Williams on Monday] and major primetime shows on ABC [Had a HTGAWM actor yesterday]

So yeah…. Just saying. I think the issue is more toning it down because Tamra and Loni are a bit ghetto at times. Too over the top, and then Adrienne does show her latin roots at times by being a bit loud.

Tamera, Jeannie, and Adrienne, are the best three hosts tho.

damn sorry to hear that, i always love when a sista and women in general is doing there thing, it’s life man you have to take chances sometime syou hit it off sometimes you don’t, you have to just bush your self off and try again even though it’s easier said than done at times but try not to give up.

  12. musicMatters101 November 21, 2014

Not shocked at all… And sadly its because Queen was so fake on her show. You could tell how she was trying to appeal to white America and be the cleaned up Cover Girl Queen La, but not the Hip Hop, Living Single (more manly Queen La). Polished Queen has always came off a bit fake IMO.

So yeah I’m not shocked for cancelation, I guess she made a deal when starting the show that it would get two seasons minimum, LOL talk about knowing it would bomb! ! !

Somebody above had said that it was like Queen was trying to be the black Ellen, thats a perfect summation. It was terribly fake though.

My mom loved it, but it was so scripted and planned out that it didn’t flow. It was a positive show tho.
