Furious 7 Pulls In $1 Billion At The Box Office….In 17 Days

Universal Pictures has never seen any of its movies cross the $1 billion mark at the box office in its 103 year history…until now.

For, the latest addition of the ‘Fast & Furious‘ family, ‘Furious 7′, has done just that this week, pulling in that amount in just 17 days.

‘7’ is now the 20th movie to generate $1 billion at the box office after sweeping in $265.35 million in domestic ticket sales and $735.2 million internationally, joining the likes of ‘Avatar‘ and ‘The Titanic’ to enjoy such groundbreaking success.

NBCUniversal Vice Chairman Ron Meyer shared:

At Universal we have had franchises with strong results at the box office, including JURASSIC PARK, DESPICABLE ME and the BOURNE series, and although we take great pride in these accomplishments, what distinguishes FAST & FURIOUS is that it is an original live action concept with an entirely diverse cast.

When our friend and colleague Paul Walker tragically passed away in the middle of production, our team, led by Jeff Shell and Donna Langley, and the filmmakers along with the cast and crew did what they do best.

tnks To Paul Walker (R.I.P) we all know that must have contributed to at least 50% of the internet in the movie…

  2. Beygency April 19, 2015

    When will home?

    • Tyler Makiveli April 19, 2015

With a budget of $132 mill you think that it would have….but that’s none of my business.

    • JOHNVIDAL April 19, 2015

Home needs to break the 400 million barrier to be considered a hit for Dreamworks, and stil has not made it. It won´t probably do it, or if it does it will mean just avery moderate success fo them. Too much for a few crazy Rihanna fans thinking that the movie was slaying. As if animated movies success or lack of were due to who oices the characters to begin with…

      • Mark111 April 19, 2015

        You’re full of BS.

      • JOHNVIDAL April 19, 2015

It´s the truth. Don´t you like the truth? 🙂
I´m a big fan of films too, not only music. And I´m very aware of how things are going and follow a lot of sites and reviewers. Just yesterday they were talking about those Home numbers I just explained.
That´s why I find it hilarious when a few commentators here in TGJ praise JLo movies as if they weren´t the laughing stocke everywhere. A few people here live in a bubble.

    • Natasha3 April 19, 2015

When will “Home”???……Did” Epic”???!!??! You’re seriously delusional if you were expecting that for both movies!

  3. the real Monster April 19, 2015

Home is still struggling to cross half of that, THE STRUGGLE!!!!

  4. Tyler Makiveli April 19, 2015

Loved this film! John Singleton has quite a few true classics under his belt. From “Boyz in the Hood”; to “Poetic Justice”; to “Higher Learning”; and now the “Fast and Furious” franchise they are all amazing.
The soundtrack great as well. Kudose to Wiz Khalifa on that #RipPaulWalker

    • Kev Kev April 20, 2015

John Singleton didn’t direct Furious 7

  5. WHO ME? WHO YOU, CHILE? HA HA HA! (QUEEN SLAYANNA) April 19, 2015

Oh gosh! What kind of slayage is this? #1 album, #1 song, and #1 movie! Paul’s impact is real!!!!!! It’s so sad he had to die though. That was so nice of Wiz to dedicate his life with that song! it was about time “Uptown Funk” got dethroned from having yet another week at number 1.

    • JOHNVIDAL April 19, 2015

I´m glad that Uptown Funk is not #1 anymore (despite being great and Bruno being one of the few who deserve huge success) beause I don´t wnt it to break the all time record. BUT, stop it, it´s sad a person died but he sti was a mediocre actor and died while doing something illegal. Plus these movies are as basic as they come.

      • WHO ME? WHO YOU, CHILE? HA HA HA! (QUEEN SLAYANNA) April 19, 2015

Yes! Let Mother Lamb hold on to that Hot 100 record for “One Sweet Day”!But why do I have a feeling that “Uptown Funk” might come back and top the chart for another 3 weeks? Mariah, girl, I don’t know! Work your magic and money to make sure that song doesn’t break the record!!

      • JOHNVIDAL April 19, 2015

Yes I hope she keeps the record. I mean, like I said Bruno is one of the best in mainstream and deserves the big success he is living since he debuted. But Uptown Funk is not most successful song on the hot 100 ever material imo (then again, nowadays no song is really).

  6. JOHNVIDAL April 19, 2015

Appalling that such a basic franchise has become so successful. There are sooo many great films out there that should do these numbers instead of this. And not only smaller quality films but also blockbusters with depth (believe it or not they exist lol).
Also it has a long way to go to reach Avatar or Titanic success (well, it obviously won´t make it, not even Avengers, Star Wars or next years Batman v Superman will, probably).

Why is the navi MIA in this post? I haven’t seen a single one!!

  12. Lake Erie April 19, 2015

Wow!!! This is what’s up! I hope Luda takes advantage of this with his album out and all.

  13. Mark111 April 19, 2015

Home has made it budget back in the USA alone with 136M and 251M WW. It’s Dreamworks biggest opening in China and is selling faster than How To Train Your Dragon 2. Haters be pressed.

    • Natasha3 April 19, 2015

Exactly!! How are these idiots trying to compare a movie like “Home” to “Fast& Furious”??? It makes NO sense!

      • Krista April 19, 2015

Home is an animated movie so had even better chances.

      • Natasha3 April 19, 2015

Same chances as “Epic” did!!! “Home” still is within top 5 and was at #2 for two weeks in a roll……Had it been any other, you fools would be dancing a different tune!

      • Krista April 19, 2015

Home had a much bigger budget than Epic.

  14. Mark111 April 19, 2015

It’s more that it’s a successful franchise vs Pual’s death. In thay case, Break Masion would had been a hit.
    .
I enjoyed the film, but there were so many BS moments, it’s not the best nor my favorite of the franchise. The last two and Tokyo Drift were the best.

  15. Centurion April 19, 2015

$1 Billion in 17 days is an amazing feat, and it’s still going strong. I enjoyed the franchise from the 5th installment. They stopped emphasizing more on street racing, and more on their criminal activities.

    • metzo April 19, 2015

That’s why it’s called the “Furious”. They are taking care of unfinished business.

  16. TheElusiveLamb April 19, 2015

Congrats to them. RIP Paul Walker.

  17. #JACKIE April 19, 2015

    #PoorHome 🙁

    • Mark111 April 19, 2015

Poor ciara. Failed single, failed albums (with a S), failed engagement. Lol

      • #JACKIE April 19, 2015

        Poor Rihanna. #RL8 will be shelved. Poor aa…..never mind. :lol;

  18. Centurion April 19, 2015

When will ANY Beyonce film gross over 300M? They obviously hire her illiterate ass for her star power, but she does none of these film studios any justice and real returns. Her movies flop, her music flops, and she’s a fashion flop. 😆

    • Mark111 April 19, 2015

Name a Beyonce film she stared in where she’s not a singer. Bet ya can’t get passed one. Lol

      • Centurion April 19, 2015

Lol. None of her films where she sings have grossed over $200 million. And let’s not forget how ‘Cadillac Records’ was such a freaking astronomical disaster of a flop. 😆

    • metzo April 19, 2015

Beyonce is the first singer with the biggest film début ever with Austin Powers in Goldmember when it grossed $213,307,889 in America alone.
      -)

This is something to be impressed by. Meanwhile American Oxygen is out of the Itunes Top 60.

    • Mark111 April 19, 2015

Meanwhile, Pink Print is still under 600K after a full year of promo.

      • Barb B**** April 19, 2015

And RL8 is no where to be seen after almost a year of teasers. #Scardeyannna #Confusedanna

      • #JACKIE April 19, 2015

        #RL8 #SHELVED

      • Centurion April 19, 2015

Forest Hill Drive is platinum and it was announced under a month before it’s release. Why is Pinkprint flopping with it’s colossal promo? Self-shade much?

      • Barb B**** April 19, 2015

Forest Hill Drive has sold more than any Rihanna album first week and went platinum faster than any Ruhfund album. It will probably slay Rl8 too. You better cling honey. Flawed logic.

  20. #JACKIE April 19, 2015

These last few GAYvys need to jump ship with the rest of their twink sisters. Little Monster teas 😆 😆
