Filmmaker Lee Daniels continues to build his television ‘Empire.’

As the creator of the hit FOX show, he has this week unveiled his latest offering ‘STAR.’

Again rooted in the realm of music, the series (which stars Queen Latifah) is set in Atlanta and tells the tale of three talented singers who are desperate for a new start. With ambitions of stardom, the show follows the ladies as they navigate the cut-throat music business on their road to success.

Watch the first look trailer below. Lenny Kravitz and Benjamin Bratt also star.

Hmm.

Looks like it has potential, but it’ll need to avoid the soapy ridiculousness that’s presently ruining ‘Empire’ for us to be full aboard.

Your thoughts?

    Yawn

There’s his weakness. He found success with one music industry inspired show, he’s now going to attempt to recreate the same formula by remixing it.

Less glamorous than Empire… that is good! Will wait to judge. 1 thing; I dont like how Lee Daniels make blacks seem so racist in his work on Fox. Empire is the same way.

Is it another gay agenda pandering piece?

    • TerryB May 17, 2016

Gay agenda? You can’t be that ignorant.

    • The One May 17, 2016

If one has to set and agenda to overcome big

    • KVH May 17, 2016

Of course it will. Lee Daniels and Shondra Rimes have figured out that the only way to ensure shows with black casts work is to pad it with gay bait. Black folks don’t wanna see gay stories, but we DO wanna see black folks in lead roles…so we put up with it. Gay folks don’t wanna see black stories, but they DO wanna see gay characters, so they put up with it. It ain’t about “diversity,” it’s about market manipulation.

Which is terrible because in the end it’s desensitizing and brainwashing black people into going along with the gay agenda. This is why the black church needs to reaffirm itself in the black community.

Who brought out all these g** people? It wasn’t Prince (r.I.p),ciara,nicki minaj, janet, etc. I’m trying to see black people succeed working on their craft. Since, the mainstream voted off a variety of talent in different fields to garner one prospect.

I like the concept of Lee giving the true inspiration and how it is actually conceived following a girls group. Nothing different stands out in which the choreography originally came from:
    Janet
    Paula Abdul
    JLo
    Britney Spears
    Beyonce

He should’ve made it loosely bassed on on TLC

  8. Anti&Lemonade May 17, 2016

    It seems boring

    • Sexyforreal May 17, 2016

Dang, you live a janky life. You must see this every day. I know he is happy but you won’t see bubbles.

  9. What Now May 17, 2016

Absolutely horrible. Lee Daniels swears up and down that’s he the q**** version of Spike Lee when in reality he doesn’t even have the toenail of talent that Spike has. He is s***. The only thing he did well is Precious and that was because it was written by someone else. He is one of the worst things to ever happen to TV.

well d@mn, you must’ve been rejected at auditions

    Looks,a mess. N i guess,amiyah got the axe

  11. 2bad2bme May 17, 2016

    Lee Daniels is sooo pretentious

  12. Dev May 17, 2016

It looks like one of those shows that you watch half eyed.
My main problem is that this is coming out in 2017 and the music already sounds a decade out of date. If there plan is to release (awful) music as they did with Empire then they could’ve done better.
Lee needs to start treating these programmes like the artists are real and get decent writers and producers to make the music good if everything is bad.
This music sounds like original Destiny Child reject songs

  13. BEYSTAN_ SINCE 1997 May 17, 2016

Looks like Precious, Empire, and Dream Girls wrapped in one! Lee needs to dosomething that doesn’t revolve around struggle and over glamorized music industry to prove he is not this one devotional strong teller!

  14. #JACKIE May 17, 2016

I’m sure it’ll be CRAP like Empire
